@BeddieKU23 re: Joe Touissant. Everybody needs to be ready for a full-blown flop-a-thon with him. Plays 'tough' and 'hard-nosed' and then falls down with a slight breeze. Just fair warning
Very accurate description of him. Saw him do this in the big 10 tourney and ncaa
Ku offered 5 star Justin Roberts from Philly. Norm watched him all weekend. 6'7 SF. Has visited UK & Tennessee so far
4 star guard Rayvon Griffith cut his list to 5 including KU. The #42 ranked prospect has a final 5 of Alabama, Cincinnati, Kansas, Ohio State, and UCLA. He's from Ohio. Hello!
Kansas: "Bill Self recruits me. They are a big time school and I feel I am a big time player so I like the way the have been recruiting me. They play with a chip on their shoulder every time they go out and play."
When discussing what he is looking for out of a program when visit season arrives, Griffith said, "I am looking for a brotherhood that values winning and has an up and down playing style."
Currently ranked No. 45 nationally in 2023, Midwest Basketball Club wing Rayvon Griffith was pretty impressive on Saturday. Heβs a big wing that can play at the two or as a small forward and he can get hot from deep in a hurry. His athleticism is budding, he plays fast and his game appears to be headed in a very positive direction
He's an athlete for his size but yeah nothing else sticks out about him
Looks like Texas Tech may crush the portal again. Their insider feels they may be the favorite to land C Fardaws Aimaq. They are also likely to get a visit from Indiana St guard Tyreke Key (Tennessee is also involved). Kevin Obanor is also heavily considering returning another year.
Guard Joe Touissant transfer from Iowa has committed to West Virginia
Yeah Miles is really good and we saw how well he played up against KU 3 times. He definitely had to shoulder a large role, I think he's a scoring guard in the mold of Frank Mason. Their games have some similarity. He'd look great in Crimson and Blue
Looks like Mike Miles has left the door open for returning to College/TCU. He does want to stay in the draft but smart to keep options open without guarantee. Will be a big decision for TCU
Big loss for Oklahoma as Elijah Harkless hits the portal.

par for the course with him. Just a clown boy that needs to hang it up. It was so awkward too
Who are we talking about here?
The guy who think he runs the NCAA
par for the course with him. Just a clown boy that needs to hang it up. It was so awkward too
He's really that stupid
Yeah Williams will help there, 53% of his made shots this season from 3. He's 6'5 too so gives them another interchangeable piece
Played for KU one year 2011-12. Didn't play much
Portal will hit 1300 soon.
I'm not sure I could stop watching games but its on the table if that's where this goes. My bigger issue has always been with the NCAA being the single worst organization. I have seen so many unfathomable situations & decisions the NCAA has made over the years that I've become numb to it. This KU case has a lot of ramifications beyond just us. The booster designation being applied to KU's case is significant for every single school.
To answer the last part, nothing KU/Self/Townsend did is illegal. Nothing.
If the recent NCAA changes have any bearing kids currently enrolled shouldn't be impacted. I don't trust that reality but it would perhaps be the best case scenario if the punishments are for individuals and not the team, meaning no postseason ban. I cannot see KU accepting a post-season ban. War at that point. I could be wrong but I do think that is the line KU will not accept.
The lowest hanging fruit I see is taking the Final 4 banner from 2018. Yes the same banner Silvio helped us get, while being eligible and cleared by the NCAA, only to be made ineligible after the fact of the NCAA finding out stuff per the FBI trial, only to have his eligibility reinstated after exhausted expenses and effort were made by KU. Only for him to transfer out after issues on and off the court, only to play in the NCAA tournament this year for another team. Yupp that web of bull-crap.
No idea what becomes of the Preston/Diallo situation.
I also think Self will take this to court if he was suspended a full year etc. Any penalty that does considerable damage to his reputation, ability to coach the team in the future his warning shot he gave the NCAA could be become a real situation.
It would be nice to know what went down in Indy with the IARP/NCAA situation a month or so ago where allegedly there was conflict about a resolution between KU/IARP being discussed and shot down by the NCAA. Rumors that have had no additional details provided so far.
I'm just waiting to see what happens. If KU is forced into severe penalties I will be reevaluating being a fan of College Basketball. I don't see the point in supporting the product anymore if KU is held out to dry in this situation
Flew in from Cali too. Cool to see.
Texas Tech lands Soph. Gardner Webb Sniper D'Maurian Williams. Averaged 14.5 ppg, 4.6 boards while shooting 39% from 3 on 201 attempts. Williams was one of 35 players in the nation to shoot better then 39% from 3 on 200+ attempts. Looks like a big addition.
Oklahoma lands Wofford transfer Sam Goodwin.
Florida lands talented Belmont transfer Will Richard
Brendan Huntley Hatfield in the portal from Tennessee. Former 5 star. Yes please
Duke with another 5 star in the 23 class. puke commence. This time its Mackenzie Mgbako the #3 ranked prospect. Now 5 of the top 30 for 2023
Drame Brothers now in the portal from St Peter's. Makes 5 now. Wonder how many are going to Seton Hall?
Portal approaching 1250. Less then 500 off last years record. Saw something that kids have until May 1st to declare transfer intentions? Anyone see that as well?
Reflecting on the recruiting that got us to this glorious championship. Bill stopped star chasing and brought in the "gems", local "gems". Some of that was influenced by what was going on with the NCAA/FBI case. He gets Ochai from KC, Braun from Kansas then his best buddy Harris who was committed to Missouri St. Dave was highly rated in a down class but he was a hard worker with skill to work with. Jalen would have been a Wolverine if it wasn't for their coach bolting to the NBA. Does Self pursue Remy Martin if he hadn't beaten KU in Allen Fieldhouse off his heroics? Mitch was an unheralded recruit that soaked up every once of the College experience here, redshirting, covid year etc.
Besides Remy Self is directly responsible for the Top 6's development over several years.
3 of the Top 5 recruits for 22, and now 3 of the top 25 for 23.. We'll see what a 34 year old who's never coached a game on his own can do. Personally I only care if Bill eats his lunch in game 1 next year. Send the message quick
I agree they will have a drop off regardless of what they assemble
One of several motivators. You know the 2020 lost tourney is at the top for Self and the Players.
Yeah they will still be solid given Hickman, Salis, Strawther, Watson to return as far as I've seen so that's a solid 4. But they have zero recruits of notice so imagine they are about to go portal heavy to fill in the cracks. Definitely need 1-2 bigs and another shooter to come in
He was dominate on both ends. Played to his size, played with poise, played with toughness and played to every single skill he had. It took 4 years but in one weekend he finally did EVERYTHING fans had praised or criticized him for. It's really remarkable that it happened the way it did
Excellent post by the way. Really enjoyed it
Agree Och won it on his name.
Doesn't mean he didn't contribute to the victory because he did. He started the game with the 3 and his defense was good all night. He also had Leaky Black in foul trouble & because of the attention placed on him it opened up the floor for others to make plays which they did. It wasn't an MOP performance in the Finals but he did put up the big game in the Final 4 making 6 3's so perhaps that weighed just as heavy with voters. There's no question Dave won the game for us late and was just as good against Villanova so he did deserve the award. I kinda wish they could have just made the 7 guys who played 99% of the minutes co MOP's because really every single player laid it all out on the line to get that Championship. Does KU win without Remy's 3's or that block on Caleb Love with 50 seconds? Does KU win without Braun's driving to the basket in the early 2nd half that set the tone + his defense on the last shot forced an airball. Does KU win without Harris's pesky on ball defense going over screens and forcing their guards into turnovers or disruptive sets? Does KU win without Jalen Wilson's 2nd half play where he had two And 1 drives to the basket? And it seems like the list keeps going until its really just every player earned MOP.
Glad it all worked out!
Duke just got their 3rd 5 star guard to commit to their 2023 class & 4th overall already. Sickening.
Some others of importance Tyty Washington leaving UK & Kennedy Chandler leaving Tennessee after 1 year.
Not Big-12 or KU but relevant as Drew Timme is finally going pro.
Arkansas has been busy. Got the Makhi & Makhel Mitchell bro's from Rhode Island (previously at Maryland) & Jalen Graham from Arizona St. Arkansas has 9 new guys coming in.
Alabama gets Ohio PG Mark Sears. Avg 19.6ppg as a Soph. Big time get for them.
Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe in the portal from Oklahoma St
A few sparingly used Oklahoma players in the portal. Ashton Mason & Akol Mawein
Seems like some off the court concerns plus the injuries. He's dropped in the ranks some probably because of the latter
Bust potential tbh
FSU'S Bagman followed Gates to Methzu
And they lost by 15. Even better!
yes that was blatantly missed.
Just watched the condensed game again. Wow I'm pumped now. The intensity in that game, unmatched.
Hopefully they both return like your predicting. It's the difference between reloading vs a transition type season
4-Star PF Bryce Hopkins in the portal from Kentucky. Former top 40 recruit didn't get a lot of run this past season. Unofficial'd to KU before.
He's really good. Legit scorer. Had 28 in their first round loss to Oklahoma in the NIT
I've rewatched the first part of the first half twice, stopped watching when we hit 18 points since I knew that was the most painful section of the game. I do want to go back and analyze some things like physicality being allowed on certain plays that ended up in non-foul calls and led to that run they went on. I recall several what the heck plays so I want to confirm what I saw live.
I've watched the 2nd half at least 5 times. When I imagined at halftime how we'd win this game down 15 I still cannot imagine what actually happened. Those guys made themselves champions.
