Self gambled badly on that lineup.

Self buying minutes for harris

Let's face it Baylor without Cryer is an easier team to guard. They are guarding Flagler hard so far and you will see them adjust to get him involved now
Run it up
Ochai
Come on

ESPN just ran a banner that said Baylor is 35-8 against us. In men's basketball.

Nike money you say? We miss @jaybate-1-0

Looks like we will have great small guard depth next year. I wonder what we will do with our one or two remaining scholarships? I'm guessing... fishing in the transfer portal.
Self said as much that HS recruiting was pretty much done and they'd see what the Portal had to offer depending on spots
Bobby had successful surgery and will miss 6 weeks in recovery. Seems like a strategic move to have him ready for a full off-season.
KU involved with #3 ranked 24 prospect Tre Johnson. 6'5 shooting guard from Texas
Kansas: "I have been talking to Jeremy Case. The offer was exciting because they have always had a great school. I like their offense and how their guards have freedom so I really like that offer and having interest from that school."
Arkansas, Kentucky, UCLA also involved this early.
3 for sure, Oregon may have put themselves in or around the bubble for now with the home win against UCLA last night. They will have to get a few more decent wins to have a chance it looks.
Bill Walton last night said the Pac-12 will get 8 teams in the tourney.
Bill, put away the special stuff its not helping you
With Bobby officially out for the season don't be surprised if Remy is at least active Saturday. They kept Bobby active for emergency and Self mentioned that if Harris got into foul trouble perhaps you'd see him out there.
@Jethro said in Bobby Pettiford Done For The Year:
@BeddieKU23 I guess he should've played Zach more...
It sounded like he might have played more if it wasn't for the injury. Self said he practiced twice in 6 weeks before going into a game and making a 3. Really hope he gets some chances with the crazy schedule next week. Seems inevitable he will

Yupp he's been solid for Sunrise. I like him
Sunrise pipeline yes plz
Seems like it was a big offer. Liked Dotson and Garrett and known for his defense. His shooting ability has stuck out to me on the other side of the ball. Hope we land him

Self said Dave aggravated his foot injury early in the game on Tuesday. Also dealing with a knee injury that he suffered weeks ago. Self mentioned that rest could be in the cards for him with 4 games in 8 days coming and the big 12 tournament which could be 3 games in 3 days. Certainly setting up that we may not see Dave out there in some of these upcoming games. Very unsettling
guess were gonna have to run with our other three see how it plays out until the NCAA hopefully Dave be better then - -Plying Zach - -Mitch- -& KJ all we can do
More Zach please

@Crimsonorblue22 Yes - providing there is a real agreement between him and a team(s) that he will get drafted and given guaranteed money.
There is obviously financial incentive to come back if his people felt he could move up in the draft, but it comes with the risk he could go undrafted at all.
A good NIL deal for him is the best of both worlds. I have to imagine that Bill/KU Athletics is on it. Would be amazing to have CB and Wilson back next season.
Cb has a clothing deal that was just released fyi
I think he comes back for all the glory you get as a Sr here. That's unless his stock blows up in March.

Is this a Quentin Grimes style daddy issue?
This goes beyond that. Really good player but I didn't even want KU to go after him once I had all the facts.
This helps explain his weird transfer recruitment. Makes sense now
Tournament pressure is definitely a real thing and wouldn't be surprised if there's a correlation between Self and his players play when the chips are down.

Oh Dad is spicy on twitter about Chris Beard
Neither is getting a Christmas card
Good thing he stayed just long enough to bank a 3 against us on his 5th banked 3 attempt.
Dad went to twitter after the announcement, it's spicy
FYI, latest ESPN mock draft
Ochai #13

Agree, I have similar concerns. We faced some differing styles in the non-con but for the most part the Big-12 has been the same night in and night out in style.
Hanging a hundred will pretty much beat any style.
Personally, I don't think Bill gave a whit about the Kentucky game in the bigger picture. He wants to win conference. That game was during a tough five game stretch, right after a difficult Tech win and right before Iowa St. and Baylor. Bill knew a non-con loss to a team like UK would not hurt us in the grand scheme. Considering we are currently projected as a #1 seed, it appears he was right. We went to ISU and won, then curb-stomped Baylor and almost (should have) stole one at Texas. Worked out pretty well, I think.
If we face UK in the tourney, I think the results would be much, much different.
I don't think he did either and he said as much before and after. I think that game showed what could happen if a team shoots
out of their minds, KU struggles to score and handle length and athletic ability. All 3 of those things happened unfortunately and it felt like a tourney loss tbh.
I do think this team has improved even since the UK game so I would expect a different result

We can't play D like this sat.
Are Baylors guards even that good? Not sure they are...
LJ Cryer shoots 47% from 3 at a pretty high volume and didn't play in the first game.
He may also not play Saturday again. All 3 of Baylor's guards are dealing with injury
@drgnslayr @Kcmatt7 @RockkChalkk
All excellent points about Joe.
Joe's earned Self's trust in the month of February. I was excited when he decided to join KU but seeing his impact the past month I'm even more excited about his future here. Kids a gamer and with March coming up he's already proven the lights are not too bright.
I know there was a lot of talk about our soft non-conference schedule and it was lighter then normal no question there. We don't have a real signature non-con win like some other programs do. Arizona's win at Illinois looks good now since they are ranked (Illinois wasn't ranked when they played). They also beat Michigan (who was #4 when they played) and we've all seen Michigan isn't even an NIT team this year.
It appears the non-conference schedule will not hurt KU when it comes to seeding. KU beat North Texas is 20-4 (1st in Conf USA), Iona is 22-5 (1st in MAAC), Utep 16-11, Stephen F Austin 18-8, & lost to Dayton 19-8 (2nd in Atlantic 10) so there's potentially 2-3 teams from that group that could make the tourney there.
Agree a lot of our strength in resume is due to the Big-12's strength. The 3 leading teams in Quad 1 wins come from the Big-12. KU has benefitted by being in a league that has so many Quad 1 opportunities. It also helps when you don't have half the league with losing records etc.
As for comparing the top half of the Big-12 to other conferences to me that's splitting hairs. The Top 3 teams in the P5 + the Big East normally could take turns beating each other on any given night. Maybe not the ACC this year since its such a down year. Baylor, Tech, Texas were all Top 4 seeds in the mock tournament release last weekend. I'm not surprised we may at best split with those 3 teams in the regular season.
I really have no idea of what to expect when playing other top tier teams with different styles - just not much of a track record this year…
Agree, I have similar concerns. We faced some differing styles in the non-con but for the most part the Big-12 has been the same night in and night out in style. The best offense we played against spanked us at home. That was also their best game of the season. Things happen. The unknown's going into the tourney will have us talkin'
I agree the #2 overall seed is attainable. If KU wins out they will get it imo. Resume is too strong compared to Arizona

13 of Arizona's 24 wins are against Quad 3/4 teams. KU has won more Quad 1 games then Arizona has even played in. Big-12 strength gives them another edge.
