Wilson played in the G-League Combine but wasn't one of the invites to the main combine. Should be back to KU

ESPN updated their Draft big board again. Ochai outside the Top 60 now after the combine.
Not surprising considering how he scrimmaged. I still think his decision will be tied to whether or not he has assurances of signing a two-way deal after the draft.
From what I saw posted somewhere else, he didn't have such deal in place last week

Hmm. Obviously we can't turn down Top 100 type talent but what position is he going to play at KU? Note I could probably say Jalen Wilson's role after he leaves..
Think any of this stems from the Kobe King fiasco? @wissox
Duke seems to be in a good spot for Whitehead as well. FSU was the presumed early leader. He'll swoosh at the end of the day if he steps foot on a campus
yep, late January date it looks
KU will play Kentucky in Allen this year~!!
If Gard gets canned in the next year or so this will definitely be the source

I'm a huge fan of this guy; he's absolutely blown the F up recently. Unfortunately I don't think we're in on him at all. https://247sports.com/Player/Anthony-Black-46094020/ β
Yep Duke on him now. Baylor slow played him and now others have come in
Once I noticed his recruitment going in certain directions I got the feeling it wasn't on the up and up. Slaterbomb confirmed it though
Duke offered Mark Mitchell. Enough said
KU was recruiting Smith at one point, not surprised he's going this route
Expecting Moser's defense to follow him, believe Loyola had the #2 ranked D last year per Kenpom. Going to be a much different OU team then we are used to seeing from a scheme standpoint. Certainly seems like a good fit for the league. Recruiting probably is the biggest unknown with him.
Texas still bag dropping landing the best transfer left on the market in forward Tre Mitchell.
Bryson Williams, that dude from UTEP that lit us up at the end of the season has transferred to Texas Tech. Guess he really wanted to play against us again. SMH
I'm rolling with them both returning.
I think the education aspect ultimately is a reason Ochai comes back since he can get his degree which I was under the impression was important to him and his parents.
Wilson coming back is the best move for his basketball career.
Just about a month until they have to decide.. What does everyone think?
@FarmerJayhawk said in So- with all these players coming and going, what is next years team gonna look like?:
Roster posted! https://kuathletics.com/sports/mbball/roster/ β
Couple notes: Harris added 10 pounds. Which is good. Pettiford taking the legendary #0. Curry still listed lol. Big Dave isnβt so big, down to 250. Clemence needs to be with Doc Ramsey like 24/7. 221 aint gonna do it in this league night in and night out.
Zach is playing the 4 right? 221 isn't enough to be Dave's backup for instance but if he's primarily a 4 then its not too bad. Regardless your right he needs Ramsey in the worst way. Going to be a few years I think til you see him in peak physical condition.
Just think we can give the new guy his first loss
Wow
Taz Sherman of West Virginia has pulled out of the draft and will return to school. Could be a 1st/2nd team All Conference player this season
Sign of the times. No loyalty to programs anymore when you have a free transfer year now
Bet that a bunch will transfer if they have to redshirt
Making room for Ochai
Sydney Curry gone. I fully expected this
What a difference a week makes when you get a top 15 college player and a specialist transfer
Bossi thinks KU is the early favorite here. Makes sense on data available
Player retention has passed its peak, its now just a revolving door of coming and going. Expect 1-2 transfers from the 4 HS kids signed after this upcoming year. We have 4 one year rentals & I would fully expect this is McCormack & Wilson's last season in Lawrence.
Expect 6-8 graduations/transfers/early departures. The new norm
The glaring weakness for this team will be athleticism. Hopefully the pieces fit enough to compensate
KU is now super senior nation
Bill traded Enaruna for Coleman. I'd say we won that one
Great shooter. Must mean ochai is gonzo. He's Moss 2.0. A microwave shooter
This starting 5 averaged 70.2 pts per game last year - Martin, Yesufu, Agbaji, Wilson, McCormack. KU averaged 73 as a team last year.
Add Braun, Mitch, Harris- 85.7 ppg.
No excuse for this team not being Top 5 on offense
The revolving door that is the College Basketball transfer portal has now reached 1600
Yeah he's got a bit of an unorthodox shot, probably contributes to his average shooting splits but man can the kid hit tough shots and big shots when needed. Kid's a gamer
That commitment lasted long..
Agree on that Starting 5, its good enough to compete for everything. Hopefully all the pieces come back. The addition of Martin is just big in so many ways. A total face lift to where things seemed to be headed lately.
Certainly takes the pressure off Pettiford to be an impact player.
Agree. It will be very interesting to see if Adams or Clemence are more ready then we may think. Each has something to give that the other doesn't. Curry physically and athletically will hold up. Probably will be important to see what Self says about him as they get going. I have no idea what we are getting in Martin. I'm just going to hope one of them can play big and do the basic stuff we need from a backup
Certainly raised the ceiling of this team a good bit even if both Jalen or Ochai do not return. If all 3 return then Self just added the cherry on top.
At minimum its a Proven P5 player that was All Conference twice, has experience playing KU (beat us twice and hit big shots), he's a shotmaker/playmaker and can score at all 3 levels.
In a dream scenario Self has 3 guys (Martin/Ochai/McCormack) give you consistent scoring and are go-to players. Not many programs will have that. If Jalen returns that's 4 legit scorers. Everyone else is filling a role at that point. It's potentially a very good problem to have
Remy makes big shots, game winners, whatever you want
Ginormous get.
Martin, Yesufu, Agbaji, Wilson, McCormack ideally.
Harris, Braun, Martin, Pettiford.
The bench is a mess and Bill will need a 4th big to emerge in the battle between Mitch/Zach/KJ & Curry so that will be interesting to see.
Wow wow wow
True but it seems to be the only solution without resolution to the bigger issue.
At some point Self is going to have to get assistant coaches that can recruit in this new era..
Believe Hickman wanted to play closer to home and given the year Gonzaga had this year I don't blame any kid that wants to join that culture. They are 'the' school right now.
Nolan entered the i don't ever wanna hear your name again bank
Talk about trolling a program for an entire recruiting cycle. I can't stand this class
