Where are you going with in regards to that?
If Sexton's dad accepted money he has to be ineligible right? How is this any different then Cliff Alexander.
The funny thing is the state of Alabama probably just found out yesterday they have a basketball program.
The NCAA must be really pissed, they have a lot more work to do now lol
BShark said:
@Kcmatt7 @KUSTEVE @BeddieKU23 Ok so Collin Sexton took 25k from Bama. I'm feeling better about KU slowly here. If KU was dirty, no way Sexton gets away that cheap right?
Is it confirmed he got the money..
What I was reading is his father met with Michel who wanted to steer him to someone for the NBA? They facilitated money for that. But you have to think there had to be $ involved before hand too.
But yes so far nothing that points to KU doing anything dirty.. Maryland fans on page 60 something still claiming KU is
ESPN saying someone like Tom Crean or Thad Matta. Both need a job..
The NCAA is going to have to move swiftly to decide on the current roster impact. They should have the right to seek another situation in light of this. It is completely unfair to them caught in the crossfire especially with practice about to start soon.
Yup. Langford also set up his official visit for Oct 27th
I'll be interested in seeing what the NCAA does to the current players. They should have the ability to find a new future without restriction. I can't imagine any of their 2018 class will stick. They were loading up on talent once again.
ESPN reporting Both Pitino and AD have been fired
There is a lot of good stuff going on everywhere. Louisville fans are pissed at their mod for wanting the program to start over fresh. Some of them want their AD to keep his job, you know the same one that's been there for now a 3rd scandal involving the basketball program alone. So even the schools directly in the mud have the delusional types coming out of the woodworks to say otherwise.
I couldn't make my way to UK's board if I was given a bribe. Funny, I know.
Presently it doesn't seem like Kentucky has much to worry about, which is the same boat I put KU in. Them pointing fingers at us is just a childish mental decision.
The FBI caught who they caught for now, if they uncover more as the fallout continues then maybe some of the bigger programs such as KU, UK, Duke etc will have something to worry about. Then the little guys can have something to cry about.
Of the Elite's, Arizona is definitely going to see some fallout. Sean Miller was interviewed by the FBI this week. Pitino is going to be fired and from everything he's put Louisville through, its long overdue.
I'll be interested in seeing what people have to say in a few weeks when this starts to fade from people's thoughts. This will be a very slow process I think

@BeddieKU23 Maryland fans should be more worried about how they came up with this so called fab 5 recruiting class
Don't worry their long standing history of landing top recruits sets them apart from any of the mess. They are completely clean, free to roam about the landscape.
PAGE 37 of a maryland thread about this and Bill Self is still dirty and they are snap-shotting what should be a live look at Self's home when the FBI comes calling. sad world
KU has nothing to worry about right now. Everyone lawyered up, nobody is going to jail for an eternity here. If some of these people talk to plea down then we'll see what happens.
The 2 most important factors to KU's future I believe are the director of Adidas, what does he say when he's being charged? The other being the EYBL guy Code. Obviously those guys have the opportunity to open another can of worms about a lot of programs.
The Grimes/Langford duo is a game changer at KU if it happens. Langford has some things he needs to clean up effort wise and defensively. Lots of stuff out there that the game is just so easy for him at this point and he's bored. Self would definitely change that quickly.
I've long maintained Self needs to land these type of guys to compete next year. Some combination of Dotson, Grimes, Langford at guard to go with the transfers and 2 big men we have on board is a dynamite reload
I'm sure there is more that will come out from this.
Merl Code the EYBL guy I'm sure is a brain full of coaches, names, handlers, advisors, runners etc that could be a mile long list.
Will be interesting to see what other information leaks out. Now is the best time if they want the biggest audience.
I only mentioned that KU was involved in recruiting them. It's reassuring that we didn't wave the biggest check around for any of these guys as we cast a wide net in recruiting and so far nothing that is known that implicates KU doing anything wrong.
But if your Delusional Jeff at Maryland's board all you care about is KU getting tied to this so that he can run some more articles to his subscribers. We might as well make him a We Hate Kansas t-shirt, sweatshirt, coffee mug as a nice starter kit. Sad.
I'm sure Kansas along with every single major Power 5 program is in some sort of damage control. At the least they are holding meetings to discuss if there is anything they need to get ahead of. The big bad wolf is here, not the teacher's pet (NCAA) who might scold and slap you on the wrist. The fallout of this could be catostrophic accross the board or this is the warning shot and things slowly go back to normal. You'd hope if the FBI has more to provide that they continue to drop the hammers because otherwise people will still continue to do business.
Some players either confirmed or speculated to be involved in this whole thing.
Brian "Tugs" Bowen- recieved 100k from Adidas to land at Louisville. Louisville coaches involved. Jordan Fair the assistant in question is also responsible for UL's top recruit in 2018 to date Anfernee Simons. hmmm
Nasir Little - Top 25 2018 recruit. Had KU on his list, long rumored to be going to Arizona.. His AAU coach was arrested. Might have been paid 150k to land at Miami which didn't happen? The last part of that involving Miami's involvement. Little, after hearing of the report reportedly re-opened his recruitment (having not been officially committed anywhere to begin with) then deleted the post. Little was supposed to visit Miami this weekend. Can't imagine he'll be playing College Ball.
DeAndre Ayton. Rumored ASM which was also listed in this whole ordeal funneled 500k to the Ayton family to land at Zona. That would explain the last second ditching of KU...The big CHECK cleared. We'll see how this progresses.
Two other Arizona players are listed but haven't seen which one's yet. Rawle Alkins and Trier would be 2 guesses but we'll see. Maybe Kobe Simmons as well. I'm pretty sure the assistant fired "book" Richardson was directly involved in their recruitments.
Balsa Koprivica- Top 10 2019 recruit KU has been after.
Jahvon Quinerly- Top 30 2018 recruit signed to Arizona.. allegedly paid at least 15k? Was supposed to visit KU before canceling and committing to Miller.
http://www.kentucky.com/sports/college/kentucky-sports/uk-basketball-men/article175583296.html ↗
DeAthony Melton & Charles O'Bannon of USC. Melton a Soph and O'Bannon the son of Charles O'Bannon. KU was after O'Bannon for a bit.
Hearing the South Carolina players in question could be PJ Dozier & Thornwell, 2 kids largely responsible for their Final 4 run.
As for Auburn, well we already know Pearl was tainted but his assistant is probably tied to them getting any recruit that was highly rated. Wouldn't be surprised to see Heron, Purifoy, Wiley, and incoming freshman Mitchell, Okeke involved in some way.. No way that many Top 100 kids land at Auburn "freely".
wowzers that moved fast

This is two visits within a week. Wonder if we are trying to close here.
would be greeeattt ( frosted flakes voice)
Option 3 sounds likely to happen but the FBI definitely just opened a bunch of eyes (millions) to this so hopefully if they actually plan to do something here they will keep the pedal down and push through.
I would be shocked if this has any widespread impact unless there is more coming down the pipeline.
Singling out just 4 coaches among the 100's and advisors, agents etc among the thousands is not stopping business as usual tomm. Maybe it has a short-term effect but the AAU season is over, and doesn't start back up for a bit. Time will pass and unless Federal oversight keeps its foot down peeps will go back to doing what they always do
Maryland has a full schedule of course.
Yeah maybe we should print those 10-0 shirts early..
Going to need that badminton league going to fill the gaps.. That last game in January is going to leave both the players and fans a little rusty
Somehow, Somewhere, Someone will read that article and make a Dollar Bill reference
According to ESPN we only have 4 games this year, must have been in response to the Fab Five coming to Maryland.
Hopefully we are tournament ready..

boy this is interesting. I thought this type of stuff would stay hush hush forever. Guess not

Welp read from the Maryland site about if they get Dotson the fab five - -So it's a done deal guys, just mail the NC to Maryland lmao - -anyone up for a game of Badminton lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
What about pin the tail on the donkey?
Not sure its free but its the Maryland board on 247.
Trimble was a very good College PG. If they thought he was the 2nd coming of something they just had unrealistic expectations. Even KU is guilty of that.
Honestly I don't know who goes and I wouldn't want to make that decision but Townsend/Roberts are not getting any younger.
I feel there is value to Howard that he's starting to find that he relates to this younger generation (Newman, McCormack among others).
I just view it was as unacceptable if we can't close on the guy who's got so many things pointing in KU's direction.
Bugs me too.
That's why I said whatever water they are drinking, I politely decline.
FYI Johnson visits Maryland this weekend..
I'm certainly not saying its likely given Lightfoot's love for the KU program but at some point he'll have to figure out what he wants from his basketball career. If that's fighting for minutes as Self brings in bigger/taller/more athletic bigs then I give him all the credit in the world for sticking it out. I'm just so used to seeing kids choose "easy street" that you forget there are even kids that want to compete anymore. The rule change for transfers (immediately eligble) could change everything..
We'll see what he can give us this season and what his role might be going forward, this is his opportunity to surprise a lot of people if can bring consistent effort, production to the table off the bench.

Can we cut the Lawsons?
It's probably not out of the possibility that De-Sousa/McCormack are insurance in case the Lawson's don't work out for some reason.
Self has essentially recruited over Lightfoot which could be his calling card to look elsewhere. That seems unlikely but today's kids do the unthinkable.
He's already recruited for Preston & Doke leaving as well. Gone are the days these recruits are the backups
BShark said:
I just want Grimes. This is where I'm at with it. Then find some random guard to fill the roster.
Agreed, the more this process has played out Grimes is the real cornerstone to the class. If we miss on him, its time for some shakeup in the assistant ranks
Some of them are talking a "fab five" and recruiting on a Kentucky level, but better yet better then Kentucky level.
Whatever is in their water, I'm going to decline a glass

Devon Dotson will visit Maryland this weekend.
Welp, as expected this one is dragging on now.
I warn everyone and do themselves a favor and don't visit Maryland's board. I thought it was the just the whack job insider that was delusional but apparently if you read them speak its a disease that has spread throughout.
He's visiting them this weekend, it's his last visit and the staff apparently has a good relationship with him. Im not surprised some are reading the tea leaves with that one.
Florida wants 2 guards and they have tried to sell multiple guys on that philosphy. They even brought in Dotson and Elijah Weaver together which could have hurt them. No info to back that up but I'm sure it was on both minds as they hosted them together.
If they land him well that would seem to be positive for KU... this Maryland thing needs to be cleared up

@JayHawkFanToo I might be happier about S Carolina, close to him and off of a F4 year.
@BeddieKU23 Sometimes maybe the Mom wants to keep her baby in check. Of course, as with Cliff, once in a while, it would be best if the athlete could keep Mom in check!
Too funny, has there ever been a situation other then the Ball family where an athlete wished their parent(s), had guidance to stop them from bad decisions!
Yup I realized my brain freeze after. Hard to believe they are not in the ACC anymore
FarmerJayhawk said:
@BeddieKU23 I’ve heard that too. Sometimes guys just have an off day. The in-home was better from what I’ve heard.
This has been a tough recruitment to trust any info on especially lately. Was a relatively quiet one then all of sudden we have insiders and sources coming out of the woodworks and posting on MB's about him. Its conceivable nobody knows anything.
I wish Slater hadn't dropped any information regarding an all but wrapped up commitment to KU during the summer as now we have no commitment and no idea what's going on. If he wasn't sold after an unofficial on his own dime, an official and 2 in-home visits its hard to be positive he ends up here.
That TBD official to Maryland could be the game changer in this. His friend and fellow Terp commit working him, UA making their pitch, staying closer to home in the Big-10.. Just seems to convenient at this stage

At the end of the day, Zion can go to KU if that's the right spot for him. Mom may not be super thrilled about him being far away, but every KU game is on TV and that's a pretty easy flight if they want to come out for a game or two. If not here, I really hope he stays in-state so he's not at a rival school. Someone may have said it earlier, but Self is amazing with parents, so he should be able to assure Mom that they'll take the best care of Zion.
Interesting, there has been some chatter Self didn't win over the Dotson family during his recruitment/during his visit. Who knows how truthful that is but generally I've always though Self was good with the families of kids.
If he lands at Kentucky, its still the SEC where SC is and he'll play a lot of games in the general area of his family including South Carolina at least once a year. Duke, same thing would play Clemson and others within shouting distance. If he stays in-state then you have to think the family had some influence there and if distance from home is a deciding factor we know KU won't be a serious option. We'll see, I'm not surprised by this development if its significant. We are used to fighting a real uphill battle for out of state recruits
Agreed, I think there is something like 30 or so Top 100 kids left on the board. Many of them seem to be set to go somewhere by November. We may see only a handful waiting until spring which kind of goes against what has been Self's penchant for closing in the spring. I'm sure we'll see yet again a ton of de-commits, kids getting out of LOI's etc after the year plays by. That trend is going no where. Nice to see 2 Top rated bigs committed early. Definitely a refreshing take from the norm

General news tangentially related to KU: after news leaked about McCormack and KU, Ian Steere decommitted from Creighton and got some crystal ball picks for NC State. Brutal for Creighton.
I saw that and thought the same thing. Steere is a quality big, not surprised he might end up in-state after all
Nice one!
Huge pick up for KU's future. Things changed rapidly with this one. We've talked this one up for a while and its nice to see one end up with the good guys. David seems like a really bright individual driven to succeed and has put in a ton of work to facilitate that.
Agreed, I guess I wasn't trying to dismiss the importance family should have in their child's life and decision making.
We've seen what happens when guidance is absent (Mitchell Robinson).
Zion has a tight nit family from everything we've seen reported. Most parents do want their child close to home. It's natural.
I know I faced the same dilemma when I was going to College, my parents didn't support me going out of state even as a non-athlete. I ended up staying closer to home, things worked out. But when your young you have these dreams. We can all forget that these kids are young and even with a known name doesn't take away from the fact he's still a kid that's going to make an important decision for his future, regardless if the decision is likely a formality to bigger things in the near future.
My gripe was, we seem to be getting into some high profile recruitment's and hearing the distance from home theme stressed by the parents. Usually that ends up being a sign (for KU) they don't stray far from the nest. We all know Self and KU face a ton of obstacles to land top tier talent and having a lack of elite prospects in their backyard every year to recruit only adds to those obstacles.
We all know his one year in College is meaningless in the bigger picture for Zion. He's a perfect example of someone who would go to the NBA out of HS. It's his brand, his following, his star potential that would be advantageous to KU for his one year.
If mom is not on board of him leaving the state we all know what happens..
I knew the Zion to KU thing would fade out. At one point it looked promising especially with him being the face of Adidas. But when your going up against parents saying they want their kid home, we all know how that works.
FYI Zion didn't make it to Kentucky for his visit due to personal reasons. Makes you wonder whether he'll be at Late Night..
Slater posting some stuff about Zion.
Talking about Zion's mother not wanting him to be far away from home. What is it lately and KU recruits being negatively recruited by their mothers. Good lord let your son do what he wants!
Welcome Big Dave!
Important signing for Howard, kudos for the close.
We are going to love seeing this one develop. With the way he's changed his body up Hudy will be very excited to keep working with this one.
Imagine Doke and Dave next year? Unlikely it seems but we can all wish.
Time for Self to get those guards..
The o-line is a disastrous, just a ton of wrong. Blackman played well but Jimbo had really let this team down
