Yeah.. I don't expect we will see both on the team at the same time. A lot can happen between now and next summer.
Didn't expect it. Hope he sticks around to develop and learn from the best.
Self recruiting him personally had to make a difference here plus whatever big stick NIL we have.. good times
Looking like Auburn brought the right amount to the table. Pearl is a strong recruiter and apparently has a strong NIL backing his efforts.
Personally I think we dodge a bullet if we miss here. It is noteworthy how much Bill recruited him, I would guess he's put in more time with Flory then a majority of players he's went after in recent years. If Flory doesn't want to be coached by Self, I think I have my answers
Better now then later I say. Hopefully it's nothing that impacts his season, we certainly need him
Says he has a sprained MCL. Hopefully nothing that lingers into fall/start of camp.
From what I observed it will be very beneficial if he can redshirt this season. Does look like he's on the redemption road at least.

@BeddieKU23 soccer scratches the itch, just sayin.
Lovely sport, grew up playing and was a big fan but it just doesn't scratch the itch for me.
Coming soon are games in Arizona that don't start til 11pm eastern time which for me on a work day is ridiculous. I know others it won't be so bad or will be beneficial even but for me this is a major put off.
The arms race for money will continue to erode whatever organic beauty college sports provided.
RIP to a normal conference. This is so messed up. College sports will never be the same!
Perhaps I'm alone but my Fandom for college sports continues to decline

@kuballin10 the point is that Bill has to
Settle vs getting who he wants.Makes the margin for error a bit more slim. Duke gets to bring 1st round picks off the bench lol
And those first round picks win them nothing in college. It's comical really.
I agree with your point but when you look at the end result, these kids that are going to Duke as 5 star type talent are there a blur and gone. They have a model that works for them that doesn't work here

It’ll be interesting to see who comes back next year.
Theoretically should have Juan, KJ, Dickinson and one of Jackson/Morris back. McDowell and Clemence back on the bench.
Really only room for one starter and one real bench piece right?
Elmarko is on a lot of 2024 mock drafts as a mid to late first rounder. Decent chance he won't be back next year.
Yeah bleacher report had him 5th in their super early mock.. Definitely getting attention and imo rightfully so
That's the extreme high end. I'm not aware of anywhere else projecting him as a top 10 pick. But with as many mocks as there are out there that have Jackson as a 2024 1st rounder, that means he's on NBA radars already and they will be coming to see how he stacks up and how good his playmaking abilities really are because that's what has NBA scouts excited about Jackson the most.
I agree it's high just pointing out the attention he's getting this early and I'm not surprised in the least bit he's on their radar. It sounds as if he's been as advertised in the summer so far

4 star guard Jared Harris from Texas has set an official visit to KU for September 1st. #98 ranked player overall. Visiting same weekend as top guard target Jalil Bethea. Says he hears from the Jayhawks, LSU & Mississippi St the most.
*One of the more talented seniors at the two-guard spot, Jared Harris shined this past weekend at The Stage showcasing his athleticism and range from behind the three-point line. A 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Silsbee (Texas) High, Harris played with a huge chip on his shoulder throughout Saturday which resulted in him being one of the top performers on the weekend.
"I felt I have been slept on," Harris said. "I am trying to go for the No. 1 spot in the nation. I know I have to keep grinding."
Kansas: "They have been showing a lot of interest. They put people in the league and that is where I am trying to go."
Harris says a top eight list cut will not be announced until he completes his next official visit. He added that he plans on committing some time in November.*
I don't think it's possible Duke gets hurt in recruiting like other schools would in similar situations. Just seems to be the way it is.
That's how I see it too. He just wasn't a fit and it didn't work out for him. Some don't realize the opportunity until it's gone
@approxinfinity said in Mid summer boredom post…what’s your favorite KU dunk?:
I thought that said “favorite drunk”. I’m on the wrong thread.
So saw this too. Your not alone you lush
@Bosthawk said in Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.!:
I wish some poster here who are connected and in the know would please enlighten us as to what the hell is going on ..
This is the weirdest year for KU B-ball ever.
It's the wild wild west and not just here, it's everywhere. We just focus on our own crazy more then others. It is the weirdest year. Self is just trying to adjust to the changing times.
Both were suspect takes for maturity alone. They didn't work out.
@approxinfinity said in Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.!:
What exactly happened?
He has left the team couldn't handle it
Yes definitely a joke but not unexpected given what was known of him.

Ngongba is the best big in the class imo
Potential wise? Seems far behind the skill of Flury or Queen right now. Probably the biggest of the 3 and that's never a bad thing for a KU Big. Interested to see what happens here. His top 8 was a doozy
Flury's recruitment sounds fun. LOL
Hmm been waiting to see if they made a move on Queen. He's really good too.
Former KU target Chandler Jackson suspended indefinitely at FSU
I just watched them. Still a beast around the rim
Och up to 15 3's in 4 games.
Just highlights. Jalen looked happy playing in an up/down style of play. Gradey looked like he'll need some time to figure out his spots. He'll be fine if they care about him.
Ochai had 12 3's (the most) in the first Summer League games
Jalen had 17 and 6
Gradey had 10 couple 3's
Self certainly has made the effort here. I'm not convinced he even goes college route tbh. The recent offer of Ngongba would seem to indicate some backup planning when he picks Duke
New offer

KU working to get into this and get a visit. Film, very raw but the size 6'11 235 is something to work with. Stock riser so far this summer. Wondering if the success of Big Dave will have an impact as fellow Virginia natives
Hope your appointment goes well

Wow, great stuff to read here. I am actually recovering from prostate cancer surgery this morning coming out of my fog or should I say PHOG I’m gonna be fine the doctor says.
Wow glad your surgery went good. I hope your recovery is speedy

Yes that definitely happened

@BeddieKU23 if you get down to Lawrence hit me up! Would be happy to show you guys around.
Waiting to see what the Big-12 schedule looks like before planning something. Will be keeping that in mind. Plan is for me, the wife (not KU fan but supports my crazy fandom) and my son who's getting into basketball. Thanks!
@wissox said in Best KU game you've been to.:
@BeddieKU23 How did you become a KU fan? I assume you don't live in Kansas?
Yes I don't live in Kansas, from the northeast (Vermont). When I was a kid the only game you got on TV was usually the regional one so that meant Uconn or Syracuse. My father is a UCLA fan so I wasn't born into some local team to root for. I was just getting into playing basketball and the local game happened to be UConn vs Kansas. That UConn team had Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie, Donny Marshall. Believe they were #2 in the country at the time they played. KU beat them pretty good that day and Jacque Vaughn was the KU player that I liked the most. A few weeks later I went to our local mall and they had a sports store, they just so happened to have a Jacque Vaughn jersey (his number) and I begged my mother to buy it (which she did). Still have the jersey hanging up in my KU themed Man Cave now even though I wore that thing thousands of times growing up. From there I just became a fan and learned about all the history of the game and realized how big KU's part played in all of it. Just seemed to further my fandom at the time and by the time I was a teenager I was beyond hooked into this life of a KU fan.

Well since I've only been able to see one game live that's all I got. In that game though David McCormack had 28 points.
I'd have guessed you've been to many games as one of our most knowledgable fans!
Hoping to see my first game in Allen this year or next. Certainly a dream of mine since I was a kid. I have been waiting for my son to get old enough to remember the experience and think he's getting to that point so it's time to get there. Always envious of those that have seen epic games in person over the years

I think Morris is capable of being a very important part of the team this year but his status is certainly far from certain with his legal issues. Johnson wasn't going to play meaningful minutes so it's sort of a wash if neither plays here. Although I'd have a lot of hard questions for why we hitched a ride on that Morris drama
@Kcmatt7 said in 2023 Transfer Portal:
@BeddieKU23 So glad we missed on him in '18
agree. hard to believe he's still in school/eligible
Only if the one we got in return can actually play. We probably still won even if he can't tbh now that I think of it.
Jahvon Quinerly leaving Bama.
Brutal for UCF joining the conference. Their leading returning scorer SG Ithiel Horton is transferring. Avg 12 and 3 boards last season starting every game
Krissa now will stay with WVU.
Toussaint will visit k state and tech now. Weird how a bunch of these just juggle in conference

Another important piece gone for WVU in Joe Toussaint.
Also Texas Tech gets PITA Devan Cambridge. Was committed to Oregon previously

Best part is Christian being at the draft to support Jalen. Incredible
tbh I'm surprised it took him that long to hit the portal and already pick his school. Figured he woulda had all this done before the Huggy news even got cold. smh
