Tre Mitchell the first WVU domino to hit the portal. No surprise it was him either

Shocked how far Cam Whitmore fell, but happy he's a Rocket!
They alluded to interviews not going well. Made me wonder how Darrell Arthurs interviews went, out of curiosity. They always blamed his drop on health concerns but it seemed crazy to me that the correct info didnt right the ship and i never before considered how the interviews might have gone.
Also mentioned medical for Cam and his lackluster effort at Villanova and in the draft process (workouts)

He's bacccckk. Enrolled in classes
Never left, reportedly.
Extremely odd
This is one of the weirdest one's I've seen.
I would like to know whether the redshirt is because of the sort-of-transfer rule applying to him now or some plan for Zach after this year.
If it's the former, ha, wow. If it's the latter, so much changes in a year. Hard to imagine he won't be recruited over again next year.
Perhaps he will have the last laugh here. I've been on his bandwagon since Sunrise and besides a few flashes we haven't seen the best of him. I'm not sure KU or this level is his best fit though from what we have seen. Seems like his transition to College Ball has been a lot harder then perhaps expected. Zach was a good HS player that played top notch competition and held his own while showing his skillset. We have seen very little consistency from him here.
We shall see what happens

Having said that, West Virginia does have some dudes we'd want. Huggy tried in recruiting for once and assembled a posse of dudes. But can't imagine they will stay whole now and we have a need to get better.
Unfortunate ending for a heck of a coach. I wonder how much these two issues will weigh on his legacy.
I've tried an awful lot to forget Juwan Staten exists (the player you mentioned that scored without a dribble). Those games in that era were something else.
Ultimately think this is best for everyone. Perhaps he will get help he needs
Another black eye for the program.
Moving the game to Mexico City is straight bullcrap
UNC signee Simeon Wilcher has asked for his release from his NLI. 4 star guard had a KU offer.. I don't know anything about him or why he's leaving. Just posting in case this one gets a look
Yeah looks like UConn still has Clingan, Newton & Karaban from the title team so 3 important pieces. The freshman Castle will play a lot and is highly touted not only for College but the NBA as well. They need more pieces and perhaps they are still recruiting the portal. Still don't look like a team on paper that could beat KU at this time..

Olivier Nkamoua picking between WVU and Baylor. KSU out.
The KSU roster did not shape up nearly as well as I was expecting. Swung for the fences in the portal and really only landed Tylor Perry.
Perry is very good but yeah agree.
All these guys we've talked about going to other Big-12 schools. Has become a theme
Salty lineup, especially the Maui field. The marquee names though are in rebuild mode (UK, Indiana, UConn) so perhaps fortunate.
Kentucky- Down from last year, 7 scholarship players right now.
Indiana- Replaces 4/5 starting lineup including both stars Jackson-Davis & Hood-Schifino. Road games are never easy though in non-conference.
UConn- Star big Sonago gone, Jackson gone, Hawkins gone, some bench pieces moved on. Still have talented pieces but not nearly the juggernaut they became in March.
Yeah in the end it wasn't going to be the best fit for him. Strange commitment from the beginning based on his lack of mental maturity at this stage
Happy he's gone. Not happy he'll be teaching others his ways
Think Self has what he wants more or less. Star big and a bunch of guys that are capable of big games on any given night. The system has always facilitated that style
Bringing the facts! Finally something that felt good about this offseason. Kev bleeds KU
What quality 5 is going to come here and play less then 10 minutes a game?
Fran's already saying McCullaaahh
Woot Woot! This is awesome.
Huge culture win right here with all the new faces. Kev will be leading the bus
Standards are high there. In any case we don't need him going there only to make Duke better.
Spencer 94th % tile at catch and shoot
A tale as old as time

Wonder if Timberlake and Morris would decommitt if we get another guard.
Anything is possible now.
Cam Spencer from Rutgers in the portal. Shall we?
13ppg and that golden ticket 40%+ from 3.

Marked safe from a former Duke commit. It's a blessing in disguise
Lotta people were lied to, goat rodeo.
My stance from the beginning is I didn't want him so it's fitting.
This new recruiting world is unsustainable

I hate this crap. And if Hunter goes down with an injury at some point we're basically screwed. We've become Kentucky with a bunch of unknowns/sort of knowns.
ya we are left with Hunter - -no depth at the 5 now - -and yet I don't blame Udeh or Zuby a bit
We have 6'6 KJ still.
I believe I've bought all the merch I'll be buying for the forseeable future with this. I got Och/Dave/CB and then Juan, Wilson & KJ. I'm done.
@approxinfinity said in Bye Bye Ernest:
Im assuming we will hear Zuby is coming back. :crossed_fingers_medium_skin_tone:
I don't think so, rumor is Zuby/Udeh were told they would be playing behind KJ.
Even crazier is there was a good deal of optimism Udeh was returning as of last night and now he's gone.

agree. World we livin in now. Most of P5 going through the same. I definitely feel as though this year has broken something that will never return.

Canβt say I saw this coming. Jalen Wilson might be the last legacy player we see at KU.
Juan will be the last..
Another casualty to the portal. No use anymore getting attached to kids
Agree. I fully get the debate about position etc. He's a unique case, he really doesn't have a position at KU and probably most schools and yet 2 years in he's found a way to be valuable and relied upon. Whatever he does in year 3 I have the same expectation.
I don't see the fit. Figures to be a commodity given his stats and timing of entering the portal.
don't care where KJ plays, I just know he will play.
Not someone KU likely goes after but Marshall's SG Andrew Taylor enters the portal. Averaged 20ppg (crazy that was 2nd on the team in scoring) off 41% FG, 36% from 3, 4.7 boards & assists. Stat stuffer
Cal loading up to win 9 games this year:beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Over/under on 1 incoming freshman coming back after next yr. Not really a point in getting to know them or care at this point.
So which incoming freshman do we think could return after a year?
Certainly rumor, could be true. He knew his worth and knew what attention he would get doing this. Watching the bigs that got paid this past season to stay then having the portal become even more crazy this yr led to a perfect storm for him. In the end we had the resources in place to win. It's free agency with no rules

Pure insanity at this point

Seems like I should like our chances here. I'm just out here winging it
