This is the new way. past wild wild west
247's final update:
Mgbako- 10th (looking optimistic here)
Elmarko- 18th but a 4 star (3rd highest 4-star)
Adams- #45th
Johnson- #71 (huge drop and rightfully so)
McDowell- #81
wow
Watched a bunch of Davis this year in his pursuit for the record. Elite level shooter but I think at a higher level he would struggle to be anywhere close to that scoring level playing alongside other good players and playing against them. I didn't see the intangibles outside his scoring ability to predict success at a Power 5 school. He flirted with the portal last year and I think he made the right decision going back to where he was. I thought athletically he would struggle moving up and most certainly defensively.
I think the Cuffe news was more in relation to Mgbako optimism but none the less we have room for both without issue. Bill has gone full savage
Should have been back to back MVP's but glad he was able to win the award this year. Well Deserved.
Joel is an amazing success story
Not like we have the pipeline with Montverde or the connections anyway with the program. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which shoe co's a majority of these guys land at.
This is a rare occurrence where we took a Top 40ish kid early and he didn't develop playing with better players/against better competition and now he looks more like a borderline 4 star/high 3 star type. That's a big difference. Perhaps a blessing to know what they are walking into. It also becomes a topic of whether he's KU level anymore and what should happen there.
Ditto he is awful and fsu fans are not upset he left. He wouldn't have played much if their C didn't get hurt for the yr.
He would never play here so I'm not worried
Morris makes this team better. All I got
I don't support this take for optics alone. Some things should matter. But I know that may not be what others think.
If it proves to be wise to think otherwise I will but until then I don't agree

Yep
Best wing available including the portal
Definitely but freshman don't move the needle if your trying to win championships. If he was the lone guy brought into start then fine but that's not the situation we have. I don't want anymore freshman unless we are replacing Johnson and or McDowell at this point.
Definitely intriguing, his game log was a stat stuffer. Some decent efforts against decent teams (Cincinnati, BYU among them). 7 foot, 215 pounds though which would not fit our traditional body at the 5. He's a lot like Udeh, rim runner, excellent athletic ability (big time lob guy), instinctual shot blocker.

Toledo's RayJ Dennis in the Portal, another big time scorer. MAC player of the year. Avg 19.5pts, 4.3 boards, 5.8 assists on 48% shooting, 36% from 3.
also would take! Plays bigger than he is. All over the court. Rebounds, assists, steals. Guy can play. Has KILLER post game actually lol.
I'd probably prefer Dingle's ability in ISO situations. But I have to say that Rayj sort of fits the "share the ball" attitude good Bill Self teams have.
Loved both of their films. If we are not reaching out with serious intent I don't know anything anymore
Utah Valley's Aziz Bandaogo in the Portal. 7 foot Soph avg 11 and 10 with 2.9 blocks per game

Yes please!

@BeddieKU23 I don't love the film myself tbh.
Looks like an elite shooter, but other than that there is a lot missing.
Yeah I think that's why he's in play, having that elite level shooting skill. Has size, athleticism etc. On the Phog it was mentioned by a very vocal poster there that he had talked with several that were mixed on him. The criticism about him not doing what coaches want him to do was troubling.
Personally I just don't want another freshman on the roster unless we are replacing one of the 4 already on board with him.
Duke didn't seem to fight to keep him at all once Filipowski returned, I'm getting bad vibes.
Yes
There are concerns with him though from scouts. Basically mixed on him. Might have some Joe in him...

you don't want Tyson ?
Sure he's a need at this point in this crap.
Morris, obviously a need as well but I wouldn't support him

Good spot for him, Wake has a good coach and system for him
I have nothing good to say about him as a big fan of FSU Football

KU showing interest in recently decommitted Auburn PG Labaron Phillon. Ranked #37 overall. A shakeup in the Auburn staff has him looking around again.
Just find a coach that wants to take me in, wants me to be a leader and true point guard to their team and community, love around the fanbase walking around the campus and visits is a great thing," he said of what he is looking for
Philon averaged 9.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists a game this past weekend at the Nike EYBL with Team Thad that went 3-1 over the weekend.
"Labaron has been a big contributor to Team Thad's early success," said Norton Hurd IV, the Team Thad head coach and program director. "He is a five-star caliber point guard and easily a top five point guard in that class."
Wonder if he just follows the assistant coach to Ole Miss
Safe bet
Hunter seems like he could do that too.

I'd consider that a waste of a scholarship. This has been as strange as Kyle Cuffe being a stage 5 clinger to the program
I hope this all makes sense in the end.
@kjayhawks said in Anyone listen to these?:
@BeddieKU23 DeSousa and Preston were the 2 biggest mistakes Bill Self has ever made. ESPN is Joke and I only watch the channel when KU plays on it.
And the Preston situation is why De Sousa ended up playing at KU earlier.
Both situations were shady.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Get off my lawn (shaking fist at air) off-season rant:
@BeddieKU23 right? As it turns out nobody wants to live 90 miles from a Target or name your medical specialist
I'm only 50 miles from a target. Guess I'm not far enough away
Jeessh that's cheap. My water bill every quarter is more then that in a rural state with more cows then people.
Guess he's getting his 5 seconds of fame back.
The moral of all of this is Bill Self should have known better.
He knew what was getting when they risked signing him. Kid that bounced schools, his antics were well known on the grass-roots stage. Other big schools at the time stayed away. I believe we missed on other high-profile targets and had to pivot. It is what it is there.
Billy Preston is no victim and his family isn't either. The way Self recruits now is a result of the Preston/Alexander/Diallo/De Sousa days. Again it is what it is. You either learn from mistakes or continue to make them
Bossi definitely made it sound like they wouldn't circle back to someone they basically told to find another place.. He is talented though

@BShark Oh boy. It’s gonna be one of those years huh? Where Bill leans on his security blanket players that don’t mess up while getting killed by athletic teams. Ugg. Hope I’m wrong. DaJuan deserves better.
Dajuan/Elmarko/Timberlake/Ingram/Hunter Bench: KJ/Arterio/Marcus Deeper bench: the rest of the roster
This would be a top 5 team in the country without question. Still a lot to play out.
No Ernest???
Timberlake is a very solid addition. Will be 25 years old so a grown man in the rotation. Sounds like a high character kid from what I've seen written about him and he seems like a great fit for a team like this with so much attrition. We got the most confident and best shooter in the portal, no complaints. Exactly what they needed to replace with Jalen's alpha mentality no longer here
Like any fanbase, optimism about those you may land and pessimistic about those they don't.
It's entirely valid to suggest Cormac with plenty of P5 experience is better then Timberlake jumping up a level but the tape tells a different story.
Old friend Tre White in the portal from USC.
Really happy about this one! I think people sleeping on his game outside being a legit elite shooter
He's still got some time to switcharoo if Bama wants take on his baggage
Not even surprised tbh. But wow
Thursday Roundup, lighter then most
Nahiem Alleyne in after winning a championship with UCONN
Jeremiah Davenport- Cincinnati to Arkansas- Arkansas taking 28 guys again
Jordan Minor- Merrimack to Tony Bennett's put you to sleep team
Daniss Jenkins- Iona to St Johns
