Oh look at that. Video of the game that never happened. Boy these people on the internet sure can make them boys look real these days. That trophy looks awful real too. Any idea how they did that video? Very impressive stuff

Thankfully this is over and we get the resolution we have hemmed and hawed over for years. Finally put to rest. But I'll end by saying the NCAA can find the door and kick themselves out

IARP update • Oct 10, 2023 06:08 PM

haha lifetime KU hater drops the news too. Forde has been marinating his life for this moment.

The future of sports broadcasting? • Oct 04, 2023 02:05 PM

@wissox

It's certainly trending that way. We trailblazed it with the Big-12 on ESPN + so we know the pain.

I do have a solution for free. Labtop, HDMI cord and TV or phone and mirror to TV. There are tons of free sites that stream every game.

I was going to sign up for the 9.99 extra for Redzone for NFL on my tv package until I realized you can find it for free with a click of a few buttons on the interwebs. Let me know if you would like the free options.

@Gorilla72

That's going to play out again.

Juan, Kev, Hunter, KJ are going to play the most.

Elmarko, Nick, Braun, Furphy the next 4. Mari sprinkled in as needed.

The next 4 has zero collective minutes played at KU. There will be growing pains and a likely drop off to the bench.

@dylans

I'm here to see how it all plays out. I tend to be critical in the preseason and identify what I think are the biggest things that can hold KU back. I know Self will mold them into a very good regular season team but the schedule is difficult, and we really have to bank on some injury luck at certain positions.

I agree that the roster churn and transfers this past year really zapped my enthusiasm for the sport. Games can't start soon enough imo

@dylans

I don't believe my actual meaning is PG enough for here coming from a Northeasterner.

He’s a major ACC/Duke Homer if that leads you towards the conclusion you thought. I found your response humorous.

Medcalf is a Duke chode

@dylans

I feel the margin for error especially in the backcourt is basically banking on no injuries occurring which is fool's gold. One of the biggest things that has plagued Harris in his time here is playing too many minutes over the years. They brought in Morris and now he's gone, and it ends up being a really stupid move now. Hopefully Elmarko is as good as they say because if he can't handle some of the ball handling duties what is KU going to do? I can't imagine Timberlake is an option for ball handling.

Going into the season we have 9 scholarship players (if Zach stays with red-shirt), 3 of them are freshman & two of the transfers are taking significant leaps up in competition. This offseason was a mess imo.

Arterio has royally screwed this team over. Still didn't have great depth even if he was here. I will never understand this past offseason from a roster management standpoint.

2024 Recruiting • Oct 03, 2023 10:28 AM

Haha, knew ratface would come through! As I said, there was nothing out there to believe they were serious about KU. Still would have been nice to see him on campus for the publicity.

2024 Recruiting • Oct 02, 2023 04:42 PM

@approxinfinity

He still has his claws in that program. Probably will be there when Flagg appears on campus for his visit.

2024 Recruiting • Oct 02, 2023 02:57 PM

@dylans said in 2024 Recruiting:

Sounds like KU has a decent chance at Flagg and is in less than optimal position with McNeeley. Any chance they want to continue to play together?

Hopefully the Duke claws aren't so deep since that's his dreamy school. My worry is that he's entertained KU enough to get us excited but secretly already knowing where he's going and just enjoying the visits as every kid should. KU will put on a great visit for him this weekend and roll out the red carpet. I hear our NIL is very enticing and robust here as well.

He visits Duke after the KU visit which is the biggest worry even if KU knocks this out of the park. We'll see how it plays out I guess. Would be the biggest recruiting victory in some time if Self and co can close.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 29, 2023 08:12 PM

Not only did he cancel his visit to Arkansas, he will visit KU next week. Swain on 247 put in a CB for him to land at KU. Big time move here

Morris Dismissed • Sep 29, 2023 05:31 PM

I disagree wholeheartedly that this was handled by Bill and KU well. To each their own opinion though.

He was brought into the school and into basketball program before his previous case had resolved. A day after everyone got lucky the case was dropped, he was suspended from the program for the Rape Allegation and is now charged with such.

There is no way you can convince me this was handled correctly. Try explaining to the victim and the family that any of this is okay.

Morris Dismissed • Sep 29, 2023 04:23 PM

Officially charged with Rape.

Officially off the team.

Sad situation from many angles.

Sorry everyone, I knew better and did it anyways lol. When’s the season start?

Don't worry soon enough we'll be back to the sky is falling, Harris can't shoot, Hunter isn't worth the money, Elmarko was really a 5 star recruit?, KJ should play the 3, Bill can't coach, Kevin is Kevin, Timberlake is supposed to be the greatest shooter since the beginning of time and can't piss in the ocean, why can't the Aussie play more, Mcdowell is too small, Zach shouldn't redshirt and why did all the talent go to Christian and not rub off on Parker. Sound about right?:beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Schedule Discussion • Sep 27, 2023 10:10 AM

Pretty brutal schedule and I do worry about depth with the Morris bullcrap.

Non-Conference- Kentucky, UConn, Maui (which is loaded), Methzu, road game vs Indiana.

Conference-new Road Foe's; UCF and Houston (to end season). New Home Foe's; Cincinnati, BYU, Houston.

Play home/away- Kansas St, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Baylor, Houston.

Play only once on the road- West Virginia, Texas Tech, Iowa St.

Play only once at home- TCU, Texas, Cincinnati, BYU.

Play Baylor twice in 3 weeks with the road game a Noon tipoff, that's awful scheduling.

Big Monday- 3 games, home vs Natti, on the road against K-St, Tech. ESPN loves to put us on the road on Big Monday due to Self's dominance.

Schedule Discussion • Sep 26, 2023 06:01 PM

The new Big-12 yippeeee

2024 Recruiting • Sep 26, 2023 10:12 AM

Film is nice, perimeter shot is a weakness it looks that needs improvement. Great size for the backcourt, will be interesting to see how this one develops. Looks like an ideal 2 way player that Bill covets.

Very surprised he popped after the visit but good job by the staff to pivot fast after the Bethea mess.

Swing for Flagg and if you get lucky there you landed the biggest fish in HS recruiting in many years.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 22, 2023 04:31 PM

@Kcmatt7

No doubt it's a business-like deal here. I don't blame Udeh at all, the rules allow him to do what he did, but it doesn't stop me from being disappointed in the outcome even if Hunter makes us a better team this year. My disappointment probably is an emotional attachment to watching guys grow and develop at KU, rooting them along through the years (and that's really becoming an extinct thing to look forward to), only to see them leave at the speed of light when something didn't go their way. It's hard to adjust sometimes to the new way when your fandom is partly centered upon the kids themselves.

It's not like KU didn't need one of Udeh/Zuby still but it is what it is.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2023 08:56 PM

@dylans

Agree about Udeh. Think he has a handler that made this difficult to overcome when it came to the Hunter situation. It's rampant across the nation as far as running from adversity goes and the rules allow you a 1 time free run. I find it difficult myself to root for him now that he went to a conference foe and we may play against him 2 plus times over the next several years. Same for Bryce Thompson who left for Oklahoma St it's just weird. I wish them the best but that's about it.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 11, 2023 04:38 PM

2024 Recruiting • Sep 11, 2023 04:35 PM

Vernon saying he committed to Miami on the visit.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 08, 2023 07:35 PM

@wissox

Like Dylans mentioned I was excited for the Udeh, Zuby development. Hunter probably makes us a better team so how can i complain too much? It still makes me mad though.

I'm very interested to see if Hunter lives up to it.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 07, 2023 04:49 PM

@wissox

Yeah there is that risk but look at this past years KU team for why it doesn't matter anymore.

7 players left for the Portal, almost 8 before Zach came back.
Everything is now 1 and done regardless of star attached to name.

I don't like it but it's the current reality..

2024 Recruiting • Sep 05, 2023 11:44 AM

@rcjhdraft

I like the strategy Bill is using in this class given how down it is. Get 2/3 high end talents and then you can portal for more needs.

I also see the other big Stephen that's visiting as an intriguing option as a development piece. Not sure with his recent offers from Baylor/Michigan/Arizona whether he'd be okay being the 2nd big in a class..

I'm optimistic here and think he's a bigger need then Flory. I still think Miami is a factor relationship wise, but their NIL is going belly up so wonder the impact there. Cuse surprises as a contender. Just don't see a top recruit going to a place where a legend retires and you have no clue what future your walking into (rebuild). Hoping Bill again is the deciding factor in the recruitment

Marcus Adams • Aug 27, 2023 11:08 PM

Boy that was quick. Bill upgraded from his departure.

@BShark said in Off-season starting lineup ever changing thread:

Prediction

Juan/Terio/Kev/KJ/Hunter

Bench minutes most to least
Marko/Timberlake/Furph/Parker

Furph could end up a little higher really depends how he acclimates.

Think this is how it will play out to a T. Marko being your 6th man but good enough to start. Timberlake your microwave Moss/JCL guy off the bench when you need him. Furphy is the guy that changes your ceiling based on how quickly he acclimates. Parker will be an important piece even as the 9th guy. Guys get into foul trouble especially Hunter and that's the next guy up. Hoping he's capable of being our Prison Mitch.

A lot can change in a year..

KU Welcomes Flory Bidunga • Aug 14, 2023 09:45 PM

@wissox

I was curious so I looked it up and would agree, top 10-20ish bigs do leave a majority of the time. Last year gives me some hope, as Filipowski and Ke'el Ware both were top 10 guys and returned or transferred to a new school. Adem Bona also returned to UCLA #17 and I think Flory compares to him a bit. NIL is a factor now at least and has impacted some decisions. Having dived into it I would certainly agree it's unlikely we will get to know Flory that long

KU Welcomes Flory Bidunga • Aug 14, 2023 04:40 PM

@wissox

NIL is a game changer for bigs like Flory sticking around and developing. We don't get Hunter otherwise imo. We'll see if Flory decides to unpack the bags but I would say it's more of a possibility then it used to be.

I see no way Flory leaves for the NBA without a bunch of development & expanding his skillset. Could be 1-2 years or potentially a situation you get 3-4 years out of him. He's unlikely to be desirable if he's a 6'8 College Center at the next level. Will be interesting to see when there are official measurements for him because those will be important. If he's 6'10 with the 7+ wingspan then that does change things potentially on his timeline here.

2024 Recruiting • Aug 14, 2023 10:15 AM

@approxinfinity said in 2024 Recruiting:

How does Flory compare to Zuby and Udeh?

Around same height as Zuby but longer wingspan and more athletic/bouncy. Some of the same traits as Udeh, rim runner etc. His development on offense will be key for him.

The Udeh/Zuby situation angers me still from both sides.
