I picked against KU here last year and seemed to never hear the end of it from some folks.
I loathe the bracket for it is a series of decisions where I use emotion over logic every time and has worked out for me less than 7% of the time.
North Carolina has 5 teams dancing.
UNC, DUKE, Wake Forest, UNC Wilmington, and NC Central,.
firsf four fly to Dayton. Play. Fly next day. Play. Tough deal for them.

I'm happy with the season. It's been a fun ride already.
But, as far as post season goes, anything less than a FF will be disappointment to me. This team has the parts to do it, and the coach to manage it. And they have decent bracket this year.
Everything I saw shows Duke favored, and then Kansas, UNC, and Kentucky all sharing the same odds.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm starting to agree. We got the easiest 2 seed of all.
Lookint at MSt Record and see no good wins. They may not even make it past Miami.
If they make it to the Elite 8, I Like the chances of getting to the FF
@KUSTEVE they also just blew out TCU...and easily handled WVU. They have been on an uptick the last month. I would have preferred to see any of the other 5 seeds in our bracket.

If we run into Duke as a 2 seed, or any other two seed outside of our Region, we will have a fine season by reaching the final four.
They will probably place Duke in the east, though.
And Zona as the 2 west.

@HighEliteMajor if JJ would have been suspended the Star would not have this case for discrimination between treatment of male vs female student athletes. Then likely not as much of a threatening position. I thought Keegan ( who totally lost his cool on the show yesterday also had some good points re: strike one and strike 2 as it pertained to the players discipline.

No, I do not think any loss to any cellar dweller, regardless of the size of the conference, would have taken Kansas off of the # 1 seed line as long as all other variables are consistent.
If the Big 12 was ranked 5th or 6th conference in the country, that would impact it.
If Gonzagas conference was the top ranked conference in the country, that would have impacted it. With changes such as these, then yes, losing to a cellar dweller would likely move the needle.

And so it is when the the committee selects the seeding for the NCAA tournament. They do try to use a formulaic approach, the best that they can.
My interpretation of your questions suggest that I ask you to not look at this in the vacuum of selection based on conference out come coupled with performance vs the lowest performer in your conference tourney bracket. That is only a part of the decision making process; and probably a very small part.
1 seeds are awarded to the teams who create the best masterpiece of a season. BPI, RPI to some extent, Sagarin, Pomeroy, Strength of Schedule, Conference Strength and Ranking, Road and Neutral Site Records, records against other tournament teams are all part of the imperfect formula for which you search.
Kansas has an outstanding Road record.
They have an outstanding neutral site record.
They won the second toughest conference in the country by 4 games.
Some of these other elements must carry more weight than simply analyzing the two variables: Did they win their conference and how did do agains the low performers in their conference tournament.
My take, and hope I explained my thoughts clearly.

I am one who believes they needed the rest more than they needed B12 Tourney Success. This will be as rested as they have been since December.
The premise of the original post and thread was to demonstrate how a simple series of unfortunate events that it takes for a team, which walks a thin line between greatness and average, can result in us coming up on the wrong side of the outcome.
For balance, see my next comment, 2 posts down, where I said this team is good enough to win the national championship. Is that not complimentary?
@JayHawkFanToo I've been posting for nearly decade with many of these same people, and was one of the first to come over to buckets. If you think I'm not a balanced poster, you have serious comprehension or memory issues. I am positive when I choose to be. I challenge the status quo when I chose to.
