I’m now sold on having a real pure shooter. Clearly is need come tourney time. Obviously a shooter who can be coached to play good D, otherwise he won’t see the floor under Self.

I honestly haven’t been able to sit thru most KU games for the last 15 years… I always watch the first part of the season, but come divisional games, I can’t watch, because I get too worked up… heart pounding, yelling at the tv… my wife (KU alum during the Danny years) actually told me to stop watching them live because she didn’t like seeing me get so wired up and I was ruining her expereince of watching (and she didn’t want to tell the kids “your dad had a heart attack watching KU basketball.”) so I tape them … I have a routine where I check the score 2 hours and 15 minutes after tip-off. Last nite, I checked the score at halftime (15 down??. Wtf?? Ahhhhh ;( then I checked at 11:30 and they were up 3 and I ran to the tv room to watch the end 😀😀😀

If you don’t mind me asking, how old were you when you saw the 1952 game?

Now this makes the interminable wait for next season a whole lot easier… always kinda hated this part of the year, watching someone else win and realizing we got 7 MONTHS to wait til the start of next season …
I’ve already watched the game twice … maybe a few more, or 3 or 10?

Yes it could be easily argued that BD hit the two most important buckets of the game, plus great D in the clutch. Plus that CONFIDENCE he had to be the guy!! I SWORE he was gonna pass it out to the perimeter, instead he went up against two NC bigs and made the shot. MASSIVE.

And… we don’t win this tourney without Remy. Period. When he picked Kansas last year, this is exactly the Remy that we were all hoping he would bring. Fearless shooting.

Yes I admit that watching the tourney games live makes my blood pressure go thru the roof and my heat pound like cartoon rabbit. Hard!

I’ve half a mind to do a search in this site about all the posts that went like “Self is stuck in hi-lo mode,
Can’t adapt, is stubborn, can’t recruit, can’t coach in later tourney rounds, etc, etc..” “McCormack isn’t good enough, he is limited, Self plays him way too much, etc etc…”. “Mitch is a favorite and plays too much for his limited skills, Dejuan also a fav and should play less over other players etc etc.”

This is why we aren’t coaches in D1.

Tonite so far another reminder that the tourney is all about who plays well at that particular moment. This is also why I personally don’t put too much stock in measuring a teams total success on how they do in the big Dance.
Now if each matchup, past say, the first weekend, was a best of 3 games, then the ostensibly better teams would prevail more often. But it’s one game, and you better play well plus have some luck on your side.

We always like to think that the crucible of B12 conf play makes us battle tested and tough… rather than just wearing us out come tourney time

So how good is Zach gonna be? Is he projected to be a top tier big?

The tourney is just nuts. Always has been. Somewhere on a Kentucky site right now a poster is calling for Calamari’s head… he can’t recruit the right players, he doesn’t know how to coach tight games, etc etc. etc.

The tourney is downright scary. This is absolutely no guarantee that better teams will advance. It is very hard to judge a program on ncaa results alone

I love watching underdogs beat blue bloods in the tourney… but then I don’t wanna jinx our blublood team
