@KUSTEVE wondering when that video was cut, at end mentioned Cunliffe still there
Not that I don't enjoy a good honest give and take on politics and culture or even religion. Maybe we'll leave sex out of the mix if you Lefties will let us. π
I will say will be more fun hanging out with my buds here when we can be arguing over the starting five of a National Championship season!
@approxinfinity and neither did Kavanaugh. Do you have a means of seeing the past like Harry Potter?
@Crimsonorblue22 are we prosecuting for HS now....and some of us on this board are willing to forgive our basketball players the benefit of the doubt for their college behavior. Just saying.
And so there is finally this...only time will tell, but might be interesting to see if he aligns with Thomas after this ordeal and create an even more solid originalist foundation for Constitutional jurisprudence.
Some interesting analysis is out there that shows that Thomas has been moving the court to a more literalist interpretation than even Scalia had over the last decade or so.
@approxinfinity if all of this crap is a lie (as I do, and many others) and you look at all the real evidence about his life and character,M then yes, he's a good man.
Maybe not as good a man as Sen Booker's friend T-Bone, but he's right there!
@BShark don't you have to believe the woman?
@approxinfinity she's not credible. None of her details add up or have remained consistent.
@justanotherfan Kavanaugh is probably more a centrist or barely center-right. You'll gonna love it when Amy Barrett is nominated to take Notorious RBG's spot when she finally slips off into that final sleep. What's the over-under on days until that, and will it occur while sitting in session?
@BShark yawn
@approxinfinity barely watch it since I don't have cable or satellite.
@Woodrow I heard a neighbor from his childhood would testify that he pulled a girls hair when he was 6. But only would come forward if there was an FBI investigation.
@DoubleDD it's not even "He said, she said". It's "She said" and he wasn't even there.
@approxinfinity the issue isn't ignoring the meat of the issue. It's having seen the accusations, we're left asking, "Where's the beef?" - Wendy
@approxinfinity so Keith Ellison, vice-Chair of the DNC and Minnesota AG candidate should quit that race?
@approxinfinity well you are partly right, last second unsubstantiated character assassination and smearing is below standard Senatorial behavior.
@DoubleDD yeah, I didn't see many complain about Obama's smoking pot. That at least was an illegal substance - despite recent trends in lawmaking to the contrary.
@approxinfinity hey, bring a blue dress with a stain on it and we'll listen to you on this.
@approxinfinity I might, but I find it inconsequential to even consider it. As will all fair-minded Americans.
Two things only:
1) Polygraph - why won't they share the notes and video of the polygraph? Indications are that there were only 2 questions, something along the lines of "Do you believe your statement is true". But let's see the facts about it.
2) As to witnesses asking for an investigation and your extensive background with that.
How many of those cases took place in a highly charged political climate with balance of Supreme Court in the balance and a midterm election pending that had implications on said SCOTUS "advise and consent" power of the Senate?
I'm gonna to presume to take a wild guess at this having no knowledge beyond what you provided here on KU Buckets about your background and experience, and answer ZERO.
Therefore, your circumstantial evidence kinda falls into all the other supporting arguments like "most women who..."
Zero relevance to the facts at hand which all add up, when including circumstantial and "hard" ( since there weren't any) facts to also ZERO.
The glove does not fit, you must acquit! πΌπ
Love your basketball takes, but your politics are delusional. CNN is dragged kicking and screaming to calling a spade a spade. I've quit distinguishing Democrats from the Left or even the far left because they've become one and the same.
You want proof, just look at the Dem Senators behavior, the lefty kooks storming through screaming and yelling and crying in the halls of Congress and the violent street activity of the fascist "Antifa" brownshirts.
All one and the same with barely a sliver of difference. ( If you think I go too far see Maxine Waters and others encouraging violent, loud opposition everywhere and a Bernie bro tried to assassinate Congressional Republicans almost killing Rep Steve Scalise).
Avenatti, the porn lawyer, is talking about a run for the White House in 2020 as a Democrat. His stupidity and over the top contributions to the current political circus have some wondering if he isn't a Trump plant.
But really, Democratic behavior is actually making Trump look like the epitome of decorum and fair-mindedness. Even I find that almost unbelievable, but it's true...so true that Trump-hating CNN is even recognizing it and having to speak truth to their Democratic Masters.
I've never seen so much bullshit pawned off as truth in my life as I've seen in this thread. There's a completely uncorroborated accusation against a good man for political reasons. I don't believe her and NOTHING has been presented to substantiate her claims.
As a matter of FACT there is plenty to show she is lying at least as far as Kavanaugh is concerned.
So now Dems are moving the goalposts to now unfit. More BS for sure. I've seen how people react on here and that is just cause someone disagreed with your opinion. I think Kavanaugh took it too easy on Judiciary Dems. They all make Trump look like he displays more than a modicum of civility and tact.
@Gorilla72 I may have hit an ad accidentally. Haven't seen it again.
@JayHawkFanToo for general news I agree. And I suppose the story that presents the facts is necessary. But for sports, if you watched the game, the real interest is insight behind or beyond what we all saw.
@BShark my perspective is that they pretty much give the facts without adding insight.
Then Jesse began doing sidebar work that got into analysis, which they were still doing to some extent.
Not sure on the new format where that content is.
They aren't cutting edge - at least since Jesse Newell left. But good for the everyday goings on.
Basing this on a subscription ad that I couldn't seem to navigate past on my phone. Didn't happen on the iPad so far. Hmmmm
Looks like LJW is going to a paid subscription online model just in time for Basketball season to start.
That's gonna suck. Anyone got inside scoop?
Looking for a lifeline.
I think your dualistic assumption gets it exactly wrong, based on a false narrative. Republicans have never been about doing well for just themselves. And when you look at the policy results, shorn of the rhetoric, it proves it.
Case in point, the Democratic rhetoric of Trump's deregulation and tax cut policies say that it is for the rich and the corporations. The RESULTS though show the truth of the Republican pov - unemployment is at record lows, and perhaps even more critical is to emphasize that Black unemployment is at historic lows...if only to give lie to the "we care, and Republicans hate minorities" rhetoric.
And finally, you're spitting in the fan if you think you're going to be successful talking Democrats out of their identity politics philosophical culdesac. That's a circular shooting gallery that has a ways to play out yet.
That's a real test of robotics. Many robots work well in manufacturing plants but even in an environment like a large retailer distribution center, robotics struggle with the variety of packaging size, shape, and weights that they come across.
Doing this picking effectively would be a huge step forward.
Good read for sure
Another thing I like about him, and the various discussions he has, they typically (when it's not an outright hostile interview) are very open discussions often around very different conceptions and it is characterized as understanding that they want to get the best arguments against their position, so they can be strengthened and or learn where they haven't properly considered an angle.
That has been at times a strength of this board, until some folks take it too personally and it degenerates. Bring on healthy arguments and let's learn and improve all our knowledge of bball.
He is fascinating. Keeps a calm about him and refuses to get boxed in to mischaracterizations of his PoV.
College Basketball Deep State! :-)
Hear! Hear!
I'm more confused about where the term "Alt-Right" came from. Never heard it until the last presidential cycle and I follow politics pretty closely.
I'll give a shot at answering your question. Often, the Left was called "Liberal". For a growing segment of folks, there has been an attempt to grab back the mantle as a means of re-establishing the traditional political point of view of the Founders. The writers of the Constitution were considered liberals for their views of what constituted the best in human social and political arrangements. This is sometimes called "Classical Liberalism". That's one element. I lay out another element below.
So a question. With the Democratic Party moving further to the Left (realize this may be a controversial point, but believe it to be incontrovertible by the facts), how should that movement be described? How should those on the edges of that movement be called? "Leftist", "Alt-Left", or the more exacting label: socialist? As the Democrats consolidate around that pole of political thought, (again, I think this is incontrovertible with recent polling showing that outright socialism now has a majority positive view among Dems), how should we describe that leftward movement? One other "fact" in that this movement has accelerated in the last couple decades, Bill Clinton is no longer politically viable in Democratic Party - to the extent it's true, he was part off the Conservative element of the Dem party formerly called "the Blue Dog Democrats - and now that is an extinct species. Hillary was made to basically renounce some of her husbands policies from the 90's. One might argue that he slapped his name (i.e. Signed the bills) on Republican legislation, but he also then took credit for it - like welfare reform. That's not possible in Democrat politics now.
@jaybate-1.0 No. Overrated.
Next.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I live in AR now, they think they are the top school in everything...certainly the FB record was unacceptable by any measure, but that doesn't change the fact that AR expectations are over the top.
I agree with @KUSTEVE - good analysis and great to see it. Only caveat, I have no idea if any of it is close to right (fault being on me). I do know, I'm excited for the season.
@Crimsonorblue22 LeBron wants a chance to ruin another team. Guess it couldn't happen to a better franchise.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I donβt know....ESPN canβt even judge talent between Big10 and other conferences except their nose is so far up the rear of the SEC.
@HighEliteMajor could Bill Self hold him in the palm of his hand and choose to crush him?
Yawn
I'm happy. Him leaving was strange the way it went down. We're loaded.
@jaybate-1.0 pessimistic much? Or does Self take this mess and polish it into wins?
@HighEliteMajor hope @drgnslayr has it right. Sure be interesting to get a full, inside view from all perspectives on this. I agree, comments by all parties - Self & Vick's mom - were laden with back story.
We want commitment from players to our program, would like to see that same commitment by program to the players.
From my years in the athletic dept, I'm not so naive to know that many of these relationships are "business". Know that there were situations where certain players were subject to pressure to leave to open up scholarships where program didn't want to do cut them openly.
@drgnslayr hope so.
Start of the Bill Self development program for one young but talented Q. Grimes!
