@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah, but he is so fricking weak.....
NBA continuation on that one...
@BeddieKU23 He's able to play like this because its Northeastern. Against athletic guys as big or bigger, it won't come so easily....
@wissox We might be OU then....
4 TOs all first half - 3 bad ones already this half. Zero energy or focus right now...
Sterling start to the second half....
effing ESPN box score has SDS in the game credited with an assist...lol....
Our perimeter guys are 0-8 from deep -- make anything - not that they should shoot anymore -- and we could be up 20
Dot needs to realize he can get closer to the bucket than that with his speed...
@BeddieKU23 He has our only two 3s...
We should be able to score 80+ easily on these guys...
@BeddieKU23 Banking 3s may be the only way they go in....
@BeddieKU23 yeah, the last shot went in, but it was anything but a good shot....
Is this a CBI tournament game?????
We are damn lucky they aren't making many shots...
KJ taking over.....or something
I cannot fathom how we ended up making 35% on 3s over the course of the year. Almost any HS team in America can make shots better than we do...
@wissox You know the answer to that....
@DanR With good reason - none of their shots look like they have a chance of going in...
@wissox Well, wasn't intending to sing hosannahs - perhaps more damning with faint praise.... ;)
@wissox Vital, no - but to be fair, the roundball Cornhuskers were very solid and competitive for a fairly long stretch - from the latter end of Slippery Cip's tenure (before he passed), through Moe Iba, and especially under Nee. They did make the NCAA or NIT 14 out of 17 years during that time. Collier was a big disappointment as the coach following Nee, Doc was okay, and Miles has been a disappointment (particularly relative to expectations).
Is NU basketball ever going to be vital? Maybe not, but with their facilities, the right coach, e.g., a Hoiberg, could certainly make them relevant in the B10.
Dedric, Ochai, Grimes and Garret are a combined 4-26.....
@dylans Well, our FT % is dramatically better than our 3 pt %....
ISU is 64th in defensive efficiency per Kenpom. Roaring up the charts now.....
That's a pretty remarkable stat - no points outside the paint.....
I guess I never appreciated that ISU was such a defensive dynamo....
Lawson now 2-10...
@kjayhawks He does have 8 rebounds....
0-5 from 3 and 1-6 on FTs - revert to the mean and would be in good shape...
Well, at least we have a balanced "attack" - 4 players with 4 pts
18-10 RB advantage, but 5-21 from the field and 0-5 from 3....
5 - 18 ---- just throwing balls in the general direction of the rim....
Dominating the glass, but shots aren't close to going in. 30% shooting not going to win many games. Sped up????
@wissox Not quite a yawn. Could be the difference between 3 and 4 seed. Also, win means not having a double digit loss season. Not to mention at least B12 tourney champs, even if not regular season title...
FWIW - with Purdue's loss, looks like a path for KU to slide into a 3 seed IF they win the next two.
@KUSTEVE We are spoiled rotten by consistent success over a very long term. And, while the highest of expectations, i.e., national championships, with the rarest of 20 year exceptions, are dashed, we are assuaged at least in part by conference championships, NCAA POY candidates and fan favorites, and frequent deep NCAA tourney runs (we can argue about living up to seedings).
Relative to those perhaps inflated expectations, this season has been more than disappointing and disconcerting. We were ranked #1 preseason (at least in the top 3-4). This was expected to be, by far, the deepest team Self has had in years. The B12 had supposedly lost most of its top talent and was going to be down. Recall many of the early posts - talk of undefeated season or at least in the conference.
So, to not only not come close to the heightened expectations, but to have the conference championship streak end (and to KSU!), with likely a 10 loss season facing us, as well as the potential for an early tournament exit, well, the hand-wringing, angst and utter despair is somewhat understandable.
On the other hand, looked through another prism, this might be one of the best coaching jobs of Self's career. Doke for only 9 games. No Silvio at all. Head case LaGerald. A lot of external distractions. Starting 4 freshman for much of the back half of the season, one of whom wasn't expected to play at all this year, and another who seemingly didn't come to play too many nights. A team with, as it turns out, has very little NBA talent.
Given that, if we end up with 25+ wins, and maybe a Sweet 16, and with everything that can wrong does, well, you are right...that's a helluva "down" year.....
OU did score 92 their last game against a depleted WVU, but other than that they haven't scored more than 74 pts in a B12 game this year - but we are making them look an offensive powerhouse...
@BShark We're now 2-13 from 3pt and one of those was a lucky bank shot...
Now I get it - HCBS is doing Kruger a solid - knows the conference streak is over and is handing OU a win that's necessary for them to make the tourney...
First bucket in about 8 minutes...
This feels like an OU - KU football game...
@BeddieKU23 6 turnovers already...
Our 3 pt attempts aren't anywhere closing to going in...
Hard to watch this right now...
Yet another Grimes weak-ass drive - falls away and throws up a prayer rather than trying to draw contact...
Well, Self said that 13-5 or 14-4 would win the league. We thought we might rue the meltdown and 1 point loss to WVU and that may well turn out to be the case.
WTF - Ochai - got effing lucky there....
Gonna have to make both FTs - and they would still only be down 3
@Bwag He did jump - he was an inch off the floor...
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, could have been 5 on Devon...
