@BigBad A lack of a post presence did not cause rebounds to go off KU and into Oregons hands. It did not cause DG to air ball a shot right in front of the basket. Having a post presence definitely would've helped but you make it sound like they had no chance at all in winning last night. Down 6 Brooks bricks a 3 and actually securing the rebound and scoring on the next possession and then what all the sudden its a 1 possession game? Instead, JJ blocks the rebound from FM, and Brooks promptly swishes a 3. I saw that coming. That was the end right there.
You may be happy with Final Four appearances, but at the end of the day, people only remember who won the national championship. And how many has Cal won so far at UK? Had Self made it past 1 more round but always got stuck at the Final Four, would you be ok with Self as coach then?
I"m never satisfied with the tournament results unless KU wins the National Championship, but I also realize how hard statistically it is to win 6 games in a row and when you have 64 teams trying to do it, your odds aren't too great.
@Texas-Hawk-10 So if Calipari happened to be available, would you rather have him than Self?
Id rather be bounced in the first round in the actual tournament, than getting bounced in the first round of the NIT.
So next year coming seeding time, the committee should just say, hey remember KU plays in a terrible conference, lets knock them down a seed or 2 from what they think they should deserve. All the while giving Gonzaga a number 1 seed. Got it.
IMO only FM, LL and JJ are leaving.
We get to watch DG and co in the summer in Italy!
What did everyone say when Udoka went down with the injury? That the E8 or F4 was their ceiling. Having him throughout the season would have been huge. Just perspective.
I'm really more sad that I won't get to watch FM and JJ, than losing in the E8 to be honest.
I bet if you asked the players, they would take sole responsibility for the loss, and the last person they would blame is Self.
DG airballing that shot right in front of the basket represents KU's mindset the whole game.
Not saying Oregon is the better team because they are not, but they played a better game and won, could be as simple as that. We are not entitled to the final four.
lost 3 rebounds due to poor communication, thats not flat. That's letting emotion get the best of you.
63 teams go home sad. I had a wonderful time watching the Jayhawks this year. I hope to see DG and Svi back next year!
This is not on Self, he did not miss those 3s. He did not cause JJ's 2 fouls which made him ineffective for half a game.
a number 1 seed, pretty much home games until final four, an upperclassmen team with a stud freshman, and still can't get it done. Not sure what else you can ask for really.
KU beat themselves.
DG needs to wake up.
Gotta make those if KU wants to make a comeback...
I'll start worrying if we have to start fouling to extend the game.
JJ should not have passed it there to FM
Banked 3s, offensive rebounds directly back to them, luck all their way.
I bet it is like a Friday Night Lights moment in the locker room right now.
This deficit is nothing compared to what the Jayhawks had to deal with this season.
I still have faith.
Meltdown.
Uninspired basketball. This should change at halftime.
Lets get to the half at least tied.
BIFM's back is gonna break from carrying this team.
@Hawk8086 I think well see JJ under 4 min.
There it is.
@Blown His 2nd definitely was.
@HawkChamp Because this is how KU has started games all tournament long.
About as bad of a start as you can have and only down 4...
KU thrives when the media disrespects them. Keep em coming.
@Bwag We have the zone buster in JJ so hopefully no.
@DoubleDD The BIFM rap song.
@HawkChamp Self is encouraging his players to play and not think, and he will support them regardless of what style they are playing in. I think Self is loose as can be.
Wearing my crimson shaded glasses, my prediction for tonights game is 120-75 good guys.
Taking off my glasses, my prediction for tonights game is 120-75 good guys.
Never too early during March Madness!
@Blown Dok trending upwards was right around the time LL was struggling with his game. He had some nagging injuries at the time but I'm still convinced that his struggles were mental. LL was thinking too much about performing his senior year, with his lack of production and the rise of Dok, It was around the time when the players vouched for LL getting the starting job, where his level of play went up dramatically last season. When Dok went down with the injury, and solidified LL's starting position, we saw LL elevate his game again to how he ended last season.
He is almost Mr. Reliable now with his baby hook, do you think had Dok not gotten injured and taken over the starting position, would LL be playing at this high of a level?
@JayhawksandChill B*tch I'm Frank Mason
@approxinfinity BIFM too busy dishing dimes to the 3 headed monster.
@KUSTEVE Old Ball should quiet down when he realizes his other 2 Balls aren't big enough for the NBA and BBB.
@JayHawkFanToo It was almost like Self purposely suspended JJ and purposely lost against TCU to rest up and work on defense. Removing tinfoil hat now.
Just heard Altman just called us the Chickenhawks during his presser?
Same name, same coach, different styles.
2012 had a top tier defense with a tree in the middle, but the offense was pretty mediocre.
2017 has an incredible offense with 4 guards and excellent perimeter shooting but defense overall wasn't so great.
Which do you prefer?
Great defense, bad offense or great offense, bad defense?
I personally think it is more enjoyable to watch a great offense.
@JayHawkFanToo After the lottery, I think it is definitely more of a needs pick vs potential, it just feels like our players are always getting drafted several spots below what they were projected in mock drafts.
Isn't that what we all thought about Mario Chalmers? Maybe it isn't the best comparison, but I thought for sure Mario would go first round and he ends up going 2nd.
Do you guys think DG is a better PG than Ball, Monk, Fox, Evans, Morris? Not even considering any international prospects, DG would have to jump some of them to sneak into the 1st round.
@drgnslayr To be fair, KU is statistically better rebounding team than Purdue. The margin is very slim, but stats are stats.
Do you really think being MOP of the tournament is going to somehow get DG into the 1st round this year? At best, I think he can go in the 2nd round this year regardless of his play in the tourney. Of course there is always the chance for injury and derailing your opportunity at the NBA, but more risk, more reward, and I think DG is smart enough to know this.
