That’s tough, a middle screen right into unblocked pressure right up the middle

UNC Game Thread • Nov 09, 2024 07:22 AM

Was out with friends for dinner and watched at the restaurant so was distracted. But after a rewatch!

-Juan makes this whole thing go. Everything just runs better with him in. Stoked to see him under 30, you could tell his consistency and intensity were better.

-Hunt was out of shape, that’ll come. But will be a monster in league play. Also for the Bill Self suggestion box, play some more drop coverage.

-Love Diggy but he just doesn’t have the physical gifts to be a starter. Microwave role is perfect.

-Zeke was for the most part terrific. Hope he starts Tuesday but also needs to be in better shape.

-KJ was all world in the first but clearly wasn’t the same guy down the stretch. Very strong glue guy

-The bulb is flickering with Storr. He did some great things but also doesn’t know what to do yet. The drive into 3 dudes was something.

-Rylan kind of has the same thing. The midrange jumper was killer. Needs to embrace a 3 and D role. Just doesn’t have the skill to be a primary scorer (yet). Very impressed with his work on RJ

-Flory also has no idea what he’s doing, but he’s going to be special once he learns to dribble and rebound.

-This team thrives in transition. Dickinson is a terrific outlet passer and these guys can GO. Should be a major weapon.

-Defensive intensity comes and goes. Which is par for the course in early November. And partly was due to some… interesting calls. We couldn’t be as aggressive as we wanted. And missed a few assignments. Good teaching tape against some really good guards. Stoked we get Shak soon.

-Rebounding is going to be an issue all year. Hunt’s great but boy it gets bare after that.

-The only thing that kept this from a blowout was UNC shooting the piss out of FTs. 28/31 is legitimately absurd.

-Bill still rules in end of game situations, Hubert continues to be bad.

-KU and UNC should play every year. It’s too fun not to.

@approxinfinity I encourage it with the caveats that it’s both very expensive and very miserable walking doors 6 days a week for months

Well… Trump talking about how proud Melania’s parents would be to see him win a second presidency certainly had no vindictive undertones, may they rest in … somewhere.

Her dad is still around! He’s about the same age as his son in law… so

All of a Sudden • Nov 08, 2024 03:54 AM

@kjayhawks yeah Biden’s an egomaniac who absolutely believes to his core he would’ve won (he’s wrong). The backstory behind the Biden/Obama feud is Michelle and Hunter Biden’s ex are really close. Then Hunter cheated on her with his sister in law and a stripper

All of a Sudden • Nov 08, 2024 03:06 AM

Fun way to troll Trump. Biden resigns so Kamala would actually be #47 so all the merch would be wrong.

Will never happen because Biden, Obama, and Harris all hate each other buuuut would be fun anyhow

All of a Sudden • Nov 07, 2024 06:47 AM

@kjayhawks well yeah we didn’t have supply chains reacting after a global pandemic and let’s not forget Trump wanted $2,000 checks before the 2020 election. I firmly believe inflation wouldn’t have been much different had Trump gotten reelected. These things don’t happen instantly. Policy decisions months before affect inflation today.

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 11:35 PM

@kjayhawks his tariffs last time cost me thousands per year because we started tariffing Canadian steel for some reason. This would be so, so much worse. The worst part is Congress has given the President the authority to do almost whatever he wants with tariffs. He was on Rogan saying tariff is his favorite word and the Chinese won’t retaliate if we tariff their products (they did and farmers got a government bailout because the Chinese basically banned imported soybeans from the U.S.)

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 11:26 PM

@kjayhawks it’s very very bad https://fortune.com/2024/11/06/trump-tariffs-trade-taxes-economy/ ↗

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 10:41 PM

@kjayhawks unless he gets his 20% national sales tax. That would be super super bad

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 09:28 PM

Yeah, they had to make a positive, affirmative case and promptly face planted. It was very bad juju for her to do interviews and say, actually I agree with everything Biden has done over the last 4 years, wouldn't change a thing given the right track/wrong track number was like 70% wrong track. It was basically more of the same but with different branding and boy that was a mistake

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 09:07 PM

Digging into the numbers more today, literally every demographic group except college educated women moved toward the GOP. And maybe most interestingly, the income curve inverted. Kamala carried voters that make over $100k, Trump everyone else below. That hasn’t happened maybe ever? And that's with D's far outspending R's in almost every single swing state. Seems just an organic ass kicking.

All of a Sudden • Nov 06, 2024 05:43 PM

As I said probably a year ago, a good candidate on either side wins 40 states. Harris is the same candidate that couldn’t make it to Iowa 5 years ago and Trump is Trump. Voters don’t really know what they want, I guess they want a lot of new government and fewer taxes but no inflation? That doesn’t work. They want less illegal immigration but also reduce the number of legal entrants? Boy that’s a mess. Just a ton of yuck all around. They want cheaper goods but keep our foreign imports (or make them more expensive)? Ooof. Nobody’s going to learn the lessons they need to and around and around we go.

@Texas-Hawk-10 no, Jalon is worse than Montell Cozart, Lance couldn’t beat Montell Cozart, this team would lose to Rhode Island. I guess? Things are worse than they’ve ever been, the country is lost, the sun will swallow the earth by Wednesday

AFH • Oct 30, 2024 04:25 PM

@drgnslayr most of them aren't super public facing. They moved a lot of the mechanical stuff from the concourses to the gym, hence the new boards in the corners and reduced capacity. The new donor spaces are... fine? Good news is they close during the game. The biggest differences people will see and hear are the new scoreboard and court. All in all, lots of stuff that probably needed to get done but the experience will largely be the same.

@kuballin10 yeah weird how Tharpe was better than Frank all year and Bill played him. I loved Frank from the jump but he needed time to develop. Props for moving the goalposts through, hope you didn’t strain your shoulder.

Unfortunately there is a reason most don't stay in the field. I was in the last "small" class before they expanded and out of all the classmates I still talk to, I'm one of the few that are still trucking.

The hours are awful but at least the pay is… wait a second… also not great

Dang gonna call up my pharmacist friend and get a bulk order of Xanax in here

Yeah when I was a student at KU from 10-16 things were… bleak. Some games had tens of students there. I think by the end of one big blowout against Baylor it was literally just my friend group and the band on the east side. Probably why I’m so quick to give grace to this group, from almost day 1 things seemed different, culminating in that win in Austin. We’ve come from looking like Hays against KSU to being the better team two years in a row. Nobody asks if I’m wearing KU football gear ironically anymore.

@kjayhawks TBD. I hope so. The last couple games he’s shown a lot of good things. Q catches one perfect ball and we’re having a different chat

This is a conundrum. I think it’s hard to bring him back after this season because it feels like it’s time to turn the page.

Talent-wise I get the argument for keeping him. But I genuinely wonder if a year from now he’s the best QB on the roster.

Devil you know vs the devil you don’t…

Yeah I guess it depends how much faith you have in Zeke. Love Ballard but he’s a break glass kind of guy. And do we want to fish in the portal? Maybe… if a new OC wants to bring in his guy then you definitely consider it. I think JD and Lubick would be a great combo but idk if that’s found to happen.

A doinked XP and 29 stepping out of bounds. Man.

Oooo that’s close

Ok defense, asking for one more big stop
