Jesus. There is no link between vaccines and autism. The original study was fraught with awful and avoidable errors and the doctor lost his medical license for incompetence and fraud.

There's no study that specifically evaluates the claim "no link between vaccines in autism" because you can't exactly run an RCT with the MMR vaccine or something similar. That would defeat the entire purpose of the vaccination. The group that filed the lawsuit is essentially asking for studies that would've violated about every IRB rule on the planet and never could actually be performed. The best approach we have are case control, which is imperfect. This takes about 3 minutes of googling to figure out. Top result was a meta-analysis with over 1 million subjects and found absolutely zero association between vaccinations and autism. Spreading bullshit rumors and pseudo-science is very bad during a public health event.

Not convenient?

They're at a weird time of day and only one flight. Just United has a handful of different non-stop fights to Houston every day. Just checked SW again, it's tripled in price since Scott's tweet and there's only one non-stop flight to Indy. Relative to getting to Houston, Indy isn't convenient.

@Crimsonorblue22 said in South vs Midwest Region:

@FarmerJayhawk I think Scott came back and said there were direct flights?

I checked Priceline today and there weren't any direct. It looks like there's 1 per day from MCI to IND through Southwest but it's definitely not as convenient.

Is Silvio finito? • Mar 09, 2020 07:04 PM

@chriz said in Is Silvio finito?:

My thing is I never feel safe with the NCAA, especially when they're still determining the NOA penalties. You gotta think they could still keep this 2019-2020 season in mind with DeSousa playing. Heck, they originally cleared him and then reneged on that later. Who's to say they wouldn't do it again?

Especially since, as mentioned above, he's not contributing much and it could be argued that we're better without him (unless Dok or McCormack get injured).

So do we risk it?

He’s free and clear. Served his suspension and we’ve all moved on. There’s zero risk to playing him.

@approxinfinity said in Bernie vs. Biden:

@FarmerJayhawk there is still the possibility that Bernie murders Biden in the debate March 15th.

True. The math makes it VERY hard. There are about 2500 delegates left and Bernie has to win almost 60% of them to get to 1991, and that’ll only go up significantly when Biden wins almost everything. Biden needs about 53% of those left, and it’ll be well under 50 tomorrow. I’m not finding states left on the board with big hauls that would go for Bernie. Florida? Not a chance. Can’t say nice things about Castro and do well. New York? Heavily black and Jewish. Not Bernie voters. Illinois, again, heavily black and Obama’s home state.

South vs Midwest Region • Mar 09, 2020 04:51 PM

South makes more sense to me. Easier to fly to for our fans (nothing direct from MCI to IND), we avoid most of the Big Ten, Louisville, and UK in their back yard. And we ship Baylor East.

I don’t think he leaves, but he may want to test the pro waters.

If someone like Silvio leaves, don’t be surprised if we circle back to JT Thor. That’s an.. ummm... interesting recruitment. Okie Lite is all but out.

Next year’s group is going to be a lot of fun. Self has a boatload of interchangeable pieces, all of whom play really hard. I have no idea who’s going to start at the 4. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Enaruna, Wilson, Braun, or TGF at that spot.

Braun at the 4 potentially? I don't see that at all. I really wouldn't be surprised if Mitch wins the starting 4 spot next year because of his intangibles.

The advantage Enaruna and TGF have in the battle for minutes is they can both play the 3 and stretch 4 spots. I think Jalen is exclusively a 4 due to his lack of athleticism to guard on the perimeter. I don't see Braun playing any 4 because he's too small to guard post players. I think he can play 1-3 with the off ball guard spot being his natural position.

I agree about the versatility of the roster next season. Other than Dave and Silvio, everyone else who will be in the mix for rotation level minutes can play multiple positions which will give Self a bunch of flexibility to adjust to specific match ups. We could genuinely see an 8 or 9 man rotation next season even when Self trims it.

If Braun won the job I’d think Ochai would move to the 4. Fewer teams are running with 2 posts now so we could get away with playing 4 smalls like we did a couple years ago.

Agree 100% otherwise.

I just don't see Self voluntarily going that small next season with Mitch, Jalen, Tristan, and TGF on the roster. None of those 4 are low post oriented players, they're all perimeter/face up guys so I think our offense will look much more like it did from about 2011-2016 when our 4 spot was manned by a stretch 4 like Marcus, KY, and Perry. Dave and Silvio will have plenty of space to operate in the paint.

Size wise, next year should look a lot like 2011-2013 when KU was on of the biggest teams in the country. Next year's starting line up and rotation for that matter should not feature anyone under 6-5.

We’ll see! A lot will be determined by defense since we won’t have a force of nature on the interior. Love Dave, Silvio, and Mitch but they aren’t Doke.

The Lawson’s were fine. Not choir boys but not a Vick type cancer either. Last year’s team needed someone who could crack skulls and get everyone on the same page. We were just way too young at key spots. Put this year’s Garrett on that team and things are way different.

Would be pretty gross if that happened. And funny at the same time that when some people are thinking things are cleaned up that they will get even dirtier.

I’m fine with it. Ideally they’d wait a year to give everyone more time to prepare. I don’t want a bum rush in August with 1000 dudes entering the portal.

Transfer insurance. We’re covering a bunch of bases in case free agency happens effective next season. Nice player when healthy, but there’s no spot as of today.

@FarmerJayhawk We don't need a guard or likely anyone but Bryce Aiken will grad transfer. Good player, injury prone.

Heck of a shooter. Would be a great bench piece if we get a spot. Would like another big (rim protector ideally) if we go the transfer route.

I'd rather just roll with what we have but I could see Tristan or Silvio transferring.

I'm just wondering if Silvio doesn't make SOME kind of move after this year

Hope not. He’s got a big role next year.

I think he will definitely be a factor for us. More than the raw stats his athleticism pops out when you see him.

Totally agree. Going to be a valuable Swiss Army knife. That athleticism and 7 foot wingspan doesn’t come around that often.
