New Stadium questions • Aug 05, 2025 12:00 AM

@SlimShaddy54 it’ll be like 10-15 rows. Keeping somewhat of a view from the hill is a huge priority for donors and the university. The administration really, really wants to keep the walking down the hill for graduation tradition going

@nuleafjhawk park downtown and take the shuttle to and from Memorial. It’s $1 each way plus you can hang out on Mass before and after. Also if you get to the game early enough street parking in the neighborhood north of the stadium is free. Anywhere below 9th and between Missouri and Mississippi Streets are your best bet. I also believe there’s a shuttle that runs from the lot across from Allen. People also sell parking passes on the secondary market. So lots of options.

Edit: lots of good info here https://parking.ku.edu/football-game-day ↗

New Stadium questions • Aug 04, 2025 05:12 AM

The west and north sides look awesome in person. There won’t be much going on the south side (honestly the video board is the main improvement over there) so it’s really 2/3 done. The east side will likely look like lower deck, a party deck, upper deck.

To hell with the summer • Aug 02, 2025 01:56 PM

@dylans ah well pretty much none of that applies to me so on we go. When you’re in a drought only so much water is available (sometimes it’s none). It just depends on the year and rotations, but our big crops are wheat, beans, corn, and milo. Most years fall crop is our main season. We start planting in late spring and finish harvesting sometimes late fall. Winter is all about placing orders and keeping the books in order, which is real work for us. It’s pretty involved running the day to day stuff for what would I consider to be a very successful business.

And it was quite an experience growing up laying gated pipe and going twice a day to open and close gates then go to the other fields to run siphon tubes. Good memories.

To hell with the summer • Aug 01, 2025 05:45 PM

@dylans then it kills your proven yield baseline so a couple bad years can really screw you.

It’s a stressful job for about anyone, at least from the people I’ve known over the years. Not sure what my degree has to do with it (econ really emphasizes decision making under uncertainty and providing a range of outcomes) but I know business majors who have been really successful at it. I’m still involved in the management side of things since my grandpa retired so I’m still in it, but you won’t find me in a cab anytime soon. The renters would be very confused lol

Phase 1 is done (except for a few small things KUAD will do)! ?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ

To hell with the summer • Jul 31, 2025 05:53 PM

@dylans farmers have a time honored tradition of complaining about the weather. It’s a skill honed over many generations of Kansas farming communities. I just talked to my grandpa the other day and he was upset about the heat burning up our fall crop. This cold front is much needed. It’s not a nice day in Kansas when a storm destroys your income for the season.

To hell with the summer • Jul 31, 2025 03:40 AM

The nice thing about Kansas is not only do the summers suck, the winters also suck.

To hell with the summer • Jul 31, 2025 03:35 AM

@dylans grew up farming, which made me realize working from my home office is much more pleasant. I remember my dad and grandpa saying go to college so you don’t have to do this.

To hell with the summer • Jul 30, 2025 03:23 AM

Just got back from a walk. It’s 88 at 10:30 in LFK. Feels like 97

Bill Self back in the hospital 😳 • Jul 25, 2025 07:47 AM

@rockchalkjayhawk it was several years ago. Blockages develop over time. We don’t know how often Self goes to a cardiologist to get checked. For all we know last time he went everything was fine.

Bill Self back in the hospital 😳 • Jul 25, 2025 02:51 AM

I hope Coach is healthy enough to coach however he wants. I am concerned about the number of fans who just want to hand Jacque the keys and not do a real search.

Bill Self back in the hospital 😳 • Jul 24, 2025 11:56 PM

He was out golfing at least according to local gossip

Wow the crazy world of expansion • Jul 22, 2025 12:20 AM

No way. Bad academics, basketball is on probation, small market.

New Stadium questions • Jul 17, 2025 01:00 AM

It’s crunch time. 2 weeks until contractors hand it over to KUAD for finishing touches.

2025 Recruiting • Jul 11, 2025 02:25 AM

@approxinfinity yeah he went 11th, not sure what got lost in translation there

2025 Recruiting • Jul 11, 2025 01:35 AM

@approxinfinity he absolutely killed the combine, both in athletic testing and shooting.

Revshare • Jul 10, 2025 11:31 PM

KU keeps things close to the vest on NIL. They’re going to hit the revshare cap easily and Goff said yesterday they’re adding scholarships. On the Big East thing, fine they’ll have more RevShare for basketball but none of them are good on NIL. Any school like KU can easily compete in terms of a total financial package. On UConn, they’re going to spend a lot more than most on women’s basketball as well. KU is well positioned to compete, though being in the Big 12 vs. the P2 is still a significant disadvantage. It would be a heck of a lot easier to hit the revshare cap with an additional $40m in tv revenue.

2026 recruits • Jul 01, 2025 03:29 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 he went from a good kid who loves throwing bales to work out to an entitled diva overnight

@rockchalkjayhawk post-House there is a hard cap we have in terms of RevShare. That money is spent. Now, if there are donors willing to pony up for NIL for a guy (subject to getting through Deloitte’s clearinghouse) that’s a different deal but KUAD is tapped.

Ahh, gotcha. So RevShare is that $20 million cap that schools have for all sports?

Yes. All power conference schools have the same lid in terms of revshare

Also there remains no better closer than Billy Eugene Self.

The portal. • Jun 26, 2025 03:31 AM

Yeah any other additions would be walk on types. Revshare is tapped.

New Stadium questions • Jun 24, 2025 02:32 AM

@SlimShaddy54 yeah it’s mostly there. It’s a full go to tear down right after the season.

New Stadium questions • Jun 24, 2025 02:06 AM

Latest update I have is the east side plans aren’t totally finalized yet but the most likely outcome is no suites, but does have a club level (think Arrowhead). The contractors are done 8/1 then KUAD does the finishing touches.

House vs. NCAA case resolved • Jun 07, 2025 02:29 AM

Also $2.8 billion in backpay for athletes dating back to 2016.

The portal. • Jun 06, 2025 03:31 AM

Yeah it’s just transcript issues with Dessert. My sister was responsible for transcript evals when she was in athletics and always said international SAs were pains in the ass to get cleared.

KU Roster for 25-26 • Jun 05, 2025 05:53 AM

When the House settlement finally happens all the collectives will RIP. NIL deals will be run through Delloite’s clearinghouse and AD contributions will be capped.

The portal. • May 15, 2025 04:15 AM

@dylans yes, but it’s not done yet

The portal. • May 15, 2025 02:32 AM

Let’s Boogie

Swain says KU likes its chances still. There’s a ways to go yet.

2026 recruits • May 08, 2025 11:21 PM

JJ is good with KU

Norm Roberts Retires • May 07, 2025 11:40 PM

I don’t think there’s anything to the HCIW thing

Norm Roberts Retires • May 05, 2025 09:10 PM

@approxinfinity the Spurs already hired Pop’s replacement so yeah 0%

@Texas-Hawk-10 20-21 was the Covid year so it doesn’t count either

So in theory he has 2 more year of eligibility?

I still think just one because he’s played 3 years of D1 ball that count:
20-21 - Covid, doesn’t count
21-22 - JuCo, doesn’t count(?)
22-23: WVU
23-24: WVU
24-25: OSU

So he’d need the JuCo year to not count too. Weird situation.

The JuCo seasons no longer counting towards eligibility is why Diggy is playing at Maryland next season instead of being out of eligibility which should mean Suemnick still has two more seasons of eligibility then.

There’s no world where he has two left. He’s already played 3 D1 seasons that count.

@dylans I think they’d win that one, I don’t see the antitrust violation there. The rest of the suits seem pretty open and shut Sherman violations.

The portal. • May 05, 2025 12:22 AM

It would take the NCAA changing rules. Right now if you stay in the draft your eligibility is over.

That’s a bummer. Those 12 personnel sets would’ve feasted.
