Holy crap Rawls
@kjayhawks yep, done for the day
Iāll take that half. Not ideal but up 17 is good.
Also I switched from Deschutes to Free State before that last series so youāre welcome everyone
Oh that was a sexy play design. All set up by good special teams. Seems Lance REALLY made that a priority this offseason.
The OL play so far this year is concerning
Defense keeps eating
Toss him. Thatās a bad hit.
Better. Give JD some easy ones, get in rhythm.
Our inability to line up and run the ball is concerning
Whew that was lucky
DK throwing out a bunch of different looks to start the game. Everything from 5-2 to 3-3
@nuleafjhawk said in Beat the Hillbillies:
I know I'm in the minority but I LOVE the black uniforms.
I also dig them. Especially with the 41 Hawk
Also what a start holy cow
They at least won. Chryst got fired when things went south.
Fickell is toast. Same results with both Longo (who was really good at UNC and Ole Miss) and now Grimes. The Badger faithful wonāt tolerate that.
Tech really took it to Utah in the 4th. Them and TCU look for real.
Gundy is so getting fired
@kjayhawks āCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the pressā¦ā
No, I oppose cancel culture and wrote at the time how the Biden administration jawboning social media companies was dangerous.
This is also very different from those instances because the FCC has threatened ABCās license. At least for me, violating the First Amendment is much worse than a private company doing something dumb.
@kjayhawks it didnāt stop the MAGA crowd from blaming āthe leftā before Kirkās blood was dry and we had literally no idea who did it, let alone why.
@MR11 this is basically true. The problem is voters are like toddlers. Just like toddlers want to believe you can eat ice cream for every meal and never have to go to daycare, voters want to hear (and many believe) you can fix all our countryās issues by cutting waste, fraud, abuse, and foreign aid. And that Social Security would be totally fine if them darn politicians didnāt rob it!! Which of course is nonsense but thatās what they believe.
Also just going to drop this in here. Coase was right 65 years ago, we donāt need a FCC. https://web.stanford.edu/~dntse/papers/coase.pdf ā
@dylans well that and the company that owns a bunch of ABC affiliates has a major acquisition in front of the administration for approval and this administration is clear that if you want to do business you have to kiss the ass of Trump
@bskeet Murthy was decided over a year ago.
The last two administrations have been downright awful on speech. The Biden administration went after the social media giants, threatening antitrust actions and other regulatory measures for them not having administration approved moderation policies. Then obviously the FCC has taken that attitude a step further. Iām a big supporter of the organization FIRE and their mission. Iāve written in the past about important Supreme Court cases in this area like Bantam Books, NRA vs. Vullo, and Murthy v. Missouri. The key point is government attempting to coerce private actors into suppressing speech is clearly a violation of the First Amendment and we ought to condemn them no matter which political side youāre on.
We should cover. Lance is a wizard off byes and weāll be healthier than weāve been all season.
KSU might just be bad
I didnāt love the late punt but honestly it probably didnāt matter at all. The analytics say itās about a wash either way. We also shouldāve never been in that situation. The Henderson drop was brutal. We get that first and are cooking with gas.
Big picture, weāre fine. To me we look like a 8-9 win team. With a few lucky bounces we can play in Arlington. Not because weāre elite (weāre clearly not) but the rest of the league looks very mediocre. 7-2 gets us there and is doable.
Now that weāve seen us for 3 straight weeks itās the perfect time for a bye. Get healthy, especially at LB. You can almost do a mini fall camp and do some extra fundamental work. Lanceās teams always come out of byes very strong and we have 3 straight very winnable games coming up. Thereās a good chance weāre sitting here in 4 weeks 5-1 and headed into our second bye 8-2 or 7-3.
They never finish the sentence, states right to what?
This Chapel Bill thing didnāt hit me as real until tonight. What a wild visual.
Pour one out for Bangally Kamara. Sounds like heās done for the year, knee injury.
Is that the all ESPN package? That includes Plus, ESPN2, ESPNU, and big ESPN if memory serves. I think thereās still a Plus only option.
Eh, thatās probably exaggerated in terms of penalties. Under Leipold weāve ranked 3rd, 44th, 67th (the bowl game probably dropped us like 20 spots lol) and 16th in terms of penalties per game. It could be better sure but not usually a major concern.
That half was fun as hell. Iām a big fan of Coach Z and Coach Lubick. DL absolutely ate late in the half.
@stoptheflop 1B to Hishawās 1A. Heās one of the best backups in the league.
I donāt think Fresno will be all that good. Theyāre a run heavy offense and our strength will be the front 6. I donāt love our OL but have some faith itāll come together.
Iāve heard that KUAD has had many calls from donors pledging 7-8 figures following Boothās example. This thing is a snowball.
Also itās just so cool that Kansans like Goff, Booth, Anschutz, Dana Anderson, and Paul DeBruce have contributed so much to KU. This state is badass.
Some more details. $75m with a KU and city/state match to finish phase 2. The rest to Revshare, paying down some debt, and possibly baseball.
This more or less wraps up stadium financing when factoring in whatās already been raised plus incentives. Memorial 2.0 will be 100% done for 2027. Mostly done for 26 but construction will likely continue through the season, but weāll play in Memorial.
We good. š¦ View Tweet?s=42
Hmmm just a guess⦠Scot Pollard?
Skinner did have a heck of a grab today for the Jets so that was cool
Some good news on the Billy Eugene front š¦ View Tweet?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ
There will be two big scheme changes that are JD (and most QBs) friendly under Z/Lubick. First, attacking the middle of the field more. There was a stark contrast in Kotelnicki vs. Grimes in how they called the passing game. Also having a better receiving TE in Hanika will help. Next is the option game. JD can be lethal in the option game as we saw in 22. Lots of that was Lubickās brainchild. Grimes barely called any (and sometimes forgot #4 existed). So those changes will be big, along with a more talented WR corps. The old trio were great, but Grimm was really the only guy that could consistently get separation. Henderson and Pickett both have burst and suddenness to win 1 on 1 and turn a slant into 6.
Bill has taken a similarly talented group to a natty appearance so just my view, but itās too early to say.
Calderon is going to look good in unstructured scrimmages from just being crazy athletic but he was downright bad in OTE ball.
The whole is going to be better than the sum of its parts IMO. Early reports are the young guys look really good. I think itās going to be hard to keep Rosario out of the starting lineup come league play.
@bskeet parenting done right!
@nuleafjhawk sure thing! As a general recommendation for everyone, give a stop downtown on game days. The fine local establishments will appreciate your business for KUās return to Lawrence. A place thatās a little off the beaten path that has very good food (best wings in town) hit up R Bar on Florida between 6th and 7th, right around the corner from Louiseās West, another of Lawrenceās finest watering holes and a game day staple.
I think I agree entirely with @wissox except for Arizona. They seem to be in a bad spot. 10 wins is attainable which would put us in contention for a trip to Arlington.
