@HighEliteMajor This would be a great opportunity to try the smaller lineup. Only have 1 of Traylor, Mickelson, or Lucas in the game at one time. Try it for the whole game (or most anyway). Mason, Selden (or Graham), Greene (or Svi), Oubre, Traylor (or Lucas or Mickelson).
Would be fun to see huh?
@wissoxfan83 I don't think that works as well on the road. :)
That's hard to answer without knowing more about the severity of the injury.
It would be good to get Graham, Greene, and Svi some more playing time, for sure.
@HighEliteMajor You make a good point about the Final Fours. This year is a prime example. I believe that the statement that the Big 12 is the toughest conference has merit. Very deep with 8 good teams (yes, including KSU and UT). Capable of beating almost anyone. But..... are any of them a legitimate final four contender? I would say not....including us. Several are capable of making it.....but you wouldn't realistically pick one in your bracket. IMO
That stuff is way over the top.
We know that everything you read on twitter and the internet is true, right?
Oh....and I'm a French model......bon jour!
We have come back from bigger deficits.....just don't see if happening tonight, though.
These offensive rebounds for WVU are getting ridiculous
- Can't we break a press?
- Will Lucas ever make another layup?
Didn't like the DB announcer talking about "monumental upset" so early.
@Kip_McSmithers But they, like others, are full (or almost) for us.
Reminds me of a line in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"
"What's wrong with those other guys?"
@drgnslayr You know, I love Wayne. But in December, I was at the Lafayette game. I arrived early and watched early warmups from the bleachers.
Wayne is a really big guy. He is a good defender because he works hard at it. But, seeing how big he is, I can see why he might have a hard time keeping up with quicker 2 or 3 men. Also, why he isn't quite the ballhandler that we maybe thought he was.
But, I am very glad he is a Jayhawk.
@HighEliteMajor I think he has played his way into the conversation. Especially now that it looks like we (hopefully) win the conference. The best player on the best team should get consideration.
I would buy that this team can challenge for a NC if Cliff were to develop like we hoped he would....even before the Issue (whatever it is) it didn't appear that was going to happen. But, HEM, you make good points. We need both some semblance of a threat of an inside game and a good outside game to go all they way (or even challenge).
I think we will beat WVU. Their pressure will not bother us quite as much at home.....it's tougher at their place with the crowd going crazy. As pointed out, the whistles will be more in our favor at home....just like they generally are.
We certainly have the motivation to wrap things up at home.....
By the way, I know I am getting ahead of myself, but it looks like there is a good chance that there could be a 3 way tie for 2nd....with 6 losses.
A quick (maybe accurate, maybe not) look at the tie breakers suggest that Baylor finishes 2, OU 3 and ISU4. In that scenario, we might be looking at Texas, ISU, and then either OU or Baylor. But who knows what will happen.....
@joeloveshawks That's not what the "experts" are saying. And frankly, with 6 losses, I don't think we deserve a 1 seed at this point. You did say remote, and I agree with that....but I think others would have to lose while we look really impressive form here on out.
@ParisHawk Agree. I see the sweet 16 game (vs. probably a 3) as a tossup. If we can win that game, and lose a competitive Elite 8 game.....we are playing to our seed.
He was saying that Mason fouled him. I think you could argue that...you could also argue that Taylor lost his balance and that caused the contact. If the shoe were on the other foot...I would complain, but in the next breath acknowledge that calls go both ways throughout the game and if you are depending on a call to go your way at the end of the game....you didn't take care of business earlier.
That was exactly the way I felt with the Staten call.
I don t think we will slip to a4. 3 at worse. Concerned? Yes. I agree with the law of averages comments, though.
@Blown You are right about that. We would be raising cane about the non-call. But....there were lots of calls during the game that could have been called differently.....both ways.
@wissoxfan83 I thought that Taylor lost his balance and then his leg hit Mason. Would like to see it again, but I thought Taylor losing his balance caused the contact....that's why they didn't call it.
@Blown Thomas....sorry I don't know which play you are talking about.
So there was a play away from the ball that should have been a foul?
I think that with his play of late, if we win the conference on Tuesday, that it will be hard to keep the best player on the conference's best team off of the first team.
@drgnslayr But that doesn't necessarily mean that we vacate any wins. Yes, maybe Cliff sits out for the rest of the year or whatever.
I thought Hunter did some good things today. Blocked a couple of shots, hedged up top and then recovered to go down low...he is pretty quick.
He just doesn't seem to be much of an offensive threat (dating back to previous appearances). Although I agree he didn't have a chance to do anything offensively today.
I know that vacating is our worst fear. But how many times have you heard of someone being held out, or a player doing something they weren't supposed to do? How many times does that result in games vacated?
I would argue not very often.
Let's not get too worked up until we discover information that would suggest that we should.
Great AFH win when we weren't hitting. Except from the line!
dID anyone notice...was that our benefactor Mr. Booth leaning in when they were reviewing the clock?
Bilas pisses me off. There were so many instances of contact in the game where a foul was not called!
This review could be the game!
Horrible possession with Perry fumbling away.
Their 3s are killing us!
Perry has been great. But gosh I wish he could have hit that basket where he stumbled.
4 pt lead.....we have to win this!
Switched back to man....I would throw that zone at em again....seemed to give them problems.
15 points scored more than halfway through the 2nd half will not work.
They better not call a flagrant on the Taylor drive.....
@truehawk93 Yes. We're shying from contact. That will never work . We have to get to the line. They will block the majority of the shots that we take to the rim.
I keep waiting for us to go on a run......I fear it is not coming.
@truehawk93 Never heard of hucking. Sounds fun though.
@truehawk93 I have to ask......what is hucking?
Several instances where they could have called a foul. We still can't stop the penetration.
Surely, we have to shoot decently in the 2nd half now? Right?
(Sorry for calling everyone Shirley)
@DCHawker Yes. A long ways to go, but if we were to lose this game....the last 2 mins. will be a major factor.
Lucky shot to give them the lead....but we blew too many chances
Those were about 4 of the most piss poor possessions I can imagine.
LUcas did not have a good few minutes. 2 shots got blocked. Should not have left his man underneath.
Is it like ground hog day every time Wayne goes to the basket?
Although I think he was fouled.
@BeddieKU23 Yep
@truehawk93 Devonte has 2 fouls....but he doesn't really play enougminutes to worry about fouling out.....right?
OK...Greene is officially cold now....that was a good look.
Nice drive by Frank...keep doing that!
