We need to stop their penetration or we are going to be in trouble.
We put them in the 1 and 1 way too early.
Someone should have stopped Taylor!
@DoubleDD Agreed.
@truehawk93 Yes. We need to run some sets for him.
Can't F up a 3 on 1 like that.
Well the first play of the game is telling......blocked shot.
I think the announcers are right....need to get to the line. Take it inside and make em foul us.....of course sometimes kick it out for an open 3....especially when BG is in the game.
Often these things have to do with benefits....but we don't know what it is. Hard to speculate. It could be very minor or nothing at all.
We'll just have to wait.
@lincase I say DVR the game. Watch it later even though you know the outcome. I am a rabid KU fan, but I say go see your grandson.
This just shows the strength of the conference. This should make those of us that have been frustrated by the road losses feel a little better.
Also, I'm glad that we played at Baylor at the beginning of the season.
ISU died by the 3. They are the prime example of why you need to have an inside and an outside game.
@JayHawkFanToo I tend to agree about not losing in AFH, but I am somewhat worried about Texas. They have been playing decently and their height is problematic. Hopefully. the game day excitement will help us even more. I am not worried about WVU. Their pressure will not be quite as effective on the road and we will be out for blood.
I think the odds are we lose at OU and share with ISU. Not the end of the world. But...hopefully we can win out and win it outright.
Of course that bit just reeks of jealousy.
But.......Don't we have to admit that it's pretty good?
@jaybate-1.0 Go Bears! (And I didn't think either Fred or Ethel were that funny)
@KUSTEVE That's a good shot!
Not gonna happen for us.
1. We're not going to be relegated to the NIT anytime soon.
2. If that ever does happen.....we ain't putting the banner up....there's no room with all of the more important banners up there.
I agree that the streak has been a burden. But, I think the conference championships are important. Many say they don't mean anything without success in the post season. I disagree. 4 months of success means a lot. Now....we need postseason success also. Frankly, more than we have had.
But, the 2008 NC and 2012 runner up make up for a lot of the post season failure. But, I agree we need some post season success soon.
@Lulufulu I understand your concerns, but we will only lose a maximum of 9 games.
I am worried about the OU game, but I wouldn't say "no way" we go in there and win. We are capable of playing well enough to win in Norman....I just don't know if we will. But, it wouldn't shock me.
@jaybate-1.0 I don't think ISU will lose to OU at Hilton.
If we don't win in Norman, we have to pin our hopes on KSU beating ISU at home. Which, I think, means we need to win in Norman
I just now say the videos posted on LJW. Pretty bad. The guy went right after Traylor. What an idiot. That could have been really bad. Kudos to Traylor for restraint.
The Townsend thing although confusing looked bad also.
This was close to getting really, really, ugly. People have gotten hurt in the past from court storming.
Has to stop.
@Blown I agree. He has earned a down year or two. We all have been spoiled by his success. His success is also his worst enemy.
Oh....and if this is a down year.....it's a pretty darn good down year.
I don't want to give the team or Self a free pass. Clearly, the points many have made about coaching strategy have some validity. Some players have been inconsistent....like Mason last night. Selden seems to have regressed or not gotten better. Same for Traylor.
But, isn't the biggest reason we have struggled on the road our inexperience? I know.....the freshmen are now sophomores and other teams win with youth....I get it. Yes, the core of Ellis, Selden, Traylor (as a guy off the bench) should bring some stability. But, this is Mason's first year as a consistent contributor that we constantly rely on. He has come up short, no surprise, at times on the road. Clearly, Cliff being slow to adapt has affected us. So has Selden's play.
Look at ISU? A very good sophomore point guard, but the rest of the guys have experience. No surprise they have played well on the road. We don't have the level of experience that they have.
Well..there's the story.....no FG in 9 mins. missed 9 of last 10.
Can't win that way!
We can't stop them. Beating us off the dribble.
Dang those offensive rebounds!
@Kubie Right, he had absolutely no where to go. Frustrating.
They just said what I had been thinking....Just like WVU game. They keep hanging around.
My fear is that Foster gets just hot enough at the end. That's why we need to pull away just a little...but we can't seem to do that.
@Kubie Exactly, they left Devonte hanging out to dry.
Let's see what happens. UP 8 with the ball...they cut to 6...stupid TO. Will the lead disappear again?
@KUSTEVE Oh and once again, even though they missed the layup...we didn't stop the ball
Cliff played defense with his hands. KO should know you can't clear out with your elbows!
@KUSTEVE Yes. It seems like I have been screaming stop ball all night long.
Sorry, I don't feel too good about the 2nd half. It felt like we controlled the game (other than the dumb plays) and we are behind at the half. I felt like we should have a 7-9 pt. lead.
They have more momentum than they should have.
Really bad finish to the first half. Dumb foul. We let them take the lead.
Really bad.
How did Lucas end up switching and guarding Johnson? That hurt us.
too many missed layups!
@cragarhawk Yes....playing sped up and sloppy
Don't get that call on Oubre. The guy ran right over his leg...KO didn't move
That was an awful few trips down the court. Cough up a 6 pt. lead in no time.
Dang that seems familiar!
@Crimsonorblue22 That's good! Agree....they will regret it!
Have to like BG's chance of making the FT! Good to see him run the floor!
Well that wasn't the start we wanted from Cliff. To the bench with 2 fouls
I agree, that, in general, it's not much of a rivalry because its so one sided in basketball and football.
But...this game takes on the same intensity as a heated rivalry. We need to win to continue or quest for 11. They would like nothing more than to potentially keep us from achieving #11.
@icthawkfan316 I agree. We all are guilty of focusing on what we aren't instead of what we are....a top 10 team that controls our destiny in winning #11. We are spoiled from all of the past success.
@BeddieKU23 Not putting 2 good halves together and giving up the leads so quickly have me concerned also. It seems like left the room for a quick second and or 16 pt. lead was at 7. I think the fact that it we never put TCU away at home has us all concerned.
@KUSTEVE I agree with you. I think that Cliff, will, at some point, show us what he is capable of. He has show enough flashes, that I just can't believe that he won't be a valuable part of whatever March run we make.
@wrwlumpy Normally I might agree. But, I didn't see anything great out of Jamari or Lucas that warranted not giving Cliff another chance in the 2nd half. If one or the other were making things happen....Ok, go with the hot player. But, I didn't see that. Quite a few of you other posters are more adept at seeing the small things that keep guys out of the lineup than I am. But, I ask you or anyone else.....would we really have lost that much by putting him back in during the 2nd half? Lucas was inept, I thought. Jamari was OK....attacked the basket a few times.....but nothing special.
No doubt Cliff has made mistakes. But he couldn't have been given a 2nd chance in the 2nd half?
The Cliff thing is puzzling. Shouldn't he have gotten another chance in the 2nd half? It's not like Traylor or Lucas were playing all that great.
I agree that Self was going with the hot hand. Selden will play more than 22 mins. most games.
@Crimsonorblue22 I hope Frank doesn't have a mild concussion.
Where is Cliff?
Letting them get 9 straight was really bad.
