@wissoxfan83 Agreed about the FT%. It has to over 75% as a team. Would be awesome to be at 80%.
Low FT% will cost us a game down the road. Especially a close game on the road.
Our bigs really need to work on this all of them Perry was terrible from the line in the first half.
But it's the team % so everyone contributes.
@ralster I hope he can go lotto or first round.
But that could leave a hole at 3 if Svi gets his call up to the league as well as a lot are predicting.
I know Vick is there but not much depth with experience at the 3.
@ralster Not sure what game it was but KU ran a 4 man weave with Perry and one line post. Perry got a dribble drive to score and opened up either Wayne or Frank for an open look outside.
Now if he could dish back out when he drives from the 3pt line as he drags someone else's man with him cause he's burned his man that would really open up the offense. Diallos man won't be able to help.
I might have jumped off my couch as high as TRob got on his block at the end of the last AFH mizzu game.
Pretty sure my neighbors heard me scream too.

Also am reading that the Mets biggest target this off season is Ben Zobrist on abt a 4-5 yr deal. He's abt 35 now so that's not very damn smart either IMO.
Uh you are talking about the Met's who historically have not made smart moves with money trying to match their cross town rivals.
Then again throwing money at players hasn't paid off lately for the Yankees either.
I think Gordo stays, he's somewhat local, growing up in Lincoln and playing college ball there too. Maybe he will be loyal to his roots and stick around, sign that contract that won't break the bank for others to resign in the coming years as well.
A lot of these guys came up together through Omaha and have a bond, I'd like to see them all stick around another three or 4 years if possible.
I really enjoyed seeing Diallo's fire last night (can't use energy because that has been deemed non-acceptable by some here for a basketball player to have). Not only was it fire, but then he smiled and laughed a few times, maybe because he was having fun?
The bench smiled and laughed, even before Frank got blocked by the rim or Tyler's "BANK" shot.
Now forget about who showed us the most fire or smiled the biggest last night. Let's talk about the two from last night that never show any emotions.
Perry and Hunter, I'd add Landon, but since he wasn't able to play I won't kick him when he's down. Neither gets pumped up after a dunk or a block or a great play. By themselves or a team mate. I'd pay into Bill Self's charity of I once just saw Perry make a fist as he ran down the court after he made a shot. Hunter aside from the red hair always has that "what me worry" look on his face (please tell me I'm not the only one growing up that read MAD Magazine).
The game of basketball is fun to play, and when you are having fun, you should show emotion, be it smile and laugh when your PG gets blocked by the rim on a dunk and lands on his face, or when you get a dunk to let out a primal scream or pump your fist, or when you are losing to get a scowl on your face and show that you are pissed off your team is losing.
MJ and Kobe played with great intensity and elegance, but yet they showed emotion after big plays or bad plays. Why can't Perry, Hunter and Landon do the same??

My problem with letting Traylor play and taking minutes from Cheick is that its quite possible Cheick falls out of the NBA lotto and makes it nearly impossible to recruit talented BIGS.
Let's not forget it was one game. The first game Diallo was available to play. It was a non conference at that.
Why show your cards at this point of the season?
Let Baylor and to some extent Kentucky guess what the line up will be, who will start who will play and how? Sometimes you just keep those things close to the vest as a coach.
If Diallo plays 20-28 mins throughout conference play and can duplicate last nights play for that time frame he will be a lotto pick.
If he fouls a lot and hurts his own minutes that's not on Self or Traylor but I'm sure they will get the blame for it due to their love affair.
@Statmachine and let's not forget those fouls came against smaller less talented Layola players and not guys from Baylor, Oklahoma Texas or West Virginia who will all get two shots at him.
Once he's scouted and played against I think his numbers will temper off. Hopefully not but the reality of it all says that's usually the turn it takes.
Plus in thinking after seeing his emotion of fist pumping and looks after dead balls he will get at least one T this year.
Now let me ask everyone who has read this far, was his block steal coast to coast posing dunk an all around better play that the quick outlet by Devonte to Frank one dribble bounce pass to Wayne for a quick dribble and dunk was?
If he gets all of Jamari's min then he fouls out last night.
I was impressed by his ability to dunk the ball when he was close to the rim since our other bugs do not!
He too like all our other bigs does not know how to pass out of the post.
His shot blocking was impressive as was his active hands.
Most impressed by his ability to block, keep active get the steal and then dribble coast to coast for the dunk.
Am I being a Debbie downer? No just a realist. He's good. He going to be real good. But let's let sell out the rest of the team for his stardom.
If you watch the game the whole team played with more energy last night in the second half (except Frank on his blocked by the rim dunk). If Disllo brings energy to the team "gasp" then good they need it.
@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn I know he had at least two rebounds in the first half per ESPN and saw him get another with a huge out back dunk late in the first half.
As much as maligned as Jamari is on this site if you actually watched him in a positive light instead of s negative one you would have noticed how well he played last night. Probably one of his better games in the Uni.
He looked more relaxed and played real well.
But hey believe what you want in your minds don't let your eyes tell you differently.
@DanR I think Jamari played better tonight than he has all year. He knew he could go 100mph and Diallo would be there to have his back and take over.
The pressure is off the 5 by committee guys watch them all play more free and relaxed.

@Crimsonorblue22 Who was the last guy to wear that? Any clue? Just curious...
Jeff Boche wore 13 I'm pretty sure
I'll say it now that Diallo gets T'd up this year.
I thought there was a barber chair in the new apartments?
Team barber maybe?

I predict 9 blocks!
That would probably match what the whole team has on the season.
@KUSTEVE espn3 working on my appletv fine tonight. Probably a few seconds behind the live feed but oh well. Better than the constant buffering on the roku
Still not passing the ball. If anything it's a two man game.
Would like to see it swing from side to side and open things up. Easy to guard your man when they just stand there watching the game with you.
Hunter is going to find the bench if he doesn't learn to throw it back outwit all out post guys are black hole
@Crimsonorblue22 I agree. Dribble dribble shoot is not an offense unless you are in the NBA.
Defense they all need to be benched!! Talk about slow to close out. Slow feet.
What the crowd gets into the game when a dunk is made?
Who knew??
@Lulufulu KU 104-65
Diallo 18 mins 3 pfs 8pts 5rbs 2blks 0ast 3tos. 1 standing ovation when he Cheicks into the game
That will stop the guessing and who thinks they know.
Got my battery replaced yesterday. Got my roku and appletv boxes ready for espn3. Now just to score the good streaming device for the game so I don't have to buffer all night.
@jaybate-1.0 over/under on the number of dunks made by KU tonight.
I'll settle line at 1.5
What side will you take?
@nuleafjhawk Do you know how we can find out who will occipital our game with Kentucky? Will it be Big12 guys or SEC guys? Perhaps Nike guys?
@sfbahawk I guess you could say the 3 point shot is out of most of their range, but more and more 5's are leaving the paint and settling on shooting outside.
I consider rim to 5feet to be an inside game.
5-10 still inside but bouncing outside.
10-15 mid range
and 15 and beyond as out side or deep game.
Everyone can view it as they want I guess. Working with a few bigs this past summer we forced them to be on the block and lonely to move outside of that 7 foot range from the rim when setting picks or inbounds plays or when we needed a clear out. They wanted to shoot outside of that 15 foot mark, but didn't have the skill set to do so. That was their home work though, shoot shoot shoot, keep shooting, it's the only way it gets better.
I know a lot of guys who don't like playing on the block due to the physicality of it and they don't want to be sore for three days or until the next game just to go right back at it. Therefore they tend to float towards that mid to outside range.
A lot of kids growing up in the States, learn either the inside or outside game depending on their height by the time they are in the 6th grade. You must remember Anthony Davis was a low ranked jump shooter his junior year, but grew a ton his senior year and his ability to dribble really has helped his game. In a lot of European youth leagues, everyone learns to play all 5 spots. Just look at how Dirk has done, he can dribble, shoot, and back a guy down on the block and score. His size causes mismatches, but his skills are what propels him.
@drgnslayr There aren't any big men in the NBA that don't have an outside game under the age of 35.
Duncan is the last back to basket true scorer.
Dwight Howard should be able to post anyone up. He used to but after a few back injuries he'd rather try and take his man off the dribble or getting a screen.
Bosh is afraid of the paint and likes to stand out beyond the arc. I think Curry has more points in the paint this year than Bosh.
So the more kids at younger ages see big men shooting 3s the more they think they can do it too.
If I was the parent of a big man I would teach him every post move from Russell and Chaberlain to David Robinson and Shaq with some Dream and Mchale mixed in. He would dominate the game because he would be alone in what he could do.
Would there be a large sense or irony if the Layola Maryland Greyhounds ran the Promceton offense?
@drgnslayr I agree about Selden too. His dribbling looks better as does Greenes.
My mention about big Wayne was for Simien. I guess I should have differentiated. Lol. Sorry about that confusion. I think Simien would be a great help for our bigs.
@drgnslayr yes and is overseas playing will not only help with recruiting but gives him morenimsight on the game and how it's played and coached.
I'm surprised big Wayne hasn't been put in this role? Maybe he has been asked and turned it down to stay his course, but his coaching bugs would be a great asset as well.
@drgnslayr renewable? As in KU doesn't rebuild it reloads.
Hopefully it's both renewable and substainable.
For many many years.
Whites stat line from Saturdsys loss.
6-10 fg 0-0ft. 4 RB 5pf 0ast 26mims 15pts. He scored all 25 in second half before fouling out. Second leading scorer.
Per a friend at the game said "he couldn't guard his man who was quicker and constantly got caught standing flat footed. His rebounds came from missed layups after getting burned on D. Missed a lot of open post players and either took his own shot or passed around the wing. Never to the post. Has a nice shot when he's night forcing it." He added later "Miles will have to hide his (White) D by playing a zone cause he will get burned on the wing a lot by anyone that can dribble off the wing."
This isn't any basketball fan but a HS coach at a large school in Omaha that knows the game.
@Crimsonorblue22 But you have to look what the Final Four does for those kids on the edge of going or staying. Or just having that National stage to go from relative unknown to lottery pick.
Sam Dekker got a lift due to his performance against Kentucky. A few of those Kentucky players got a boost from their tournament run and a few others may have slipped.
Making the final four gives a kid a national stage that he didn't have before. Sure if he's considered a OAD before the season he doesn't need much more to get drafted as long as he plays well and stays healthy (even then they get drafted) but a FF run can boost their pick and paycheck.
I'm guessing here but I'd venture that non of the kids in this years team. Be it Ellis Traylor, Masan or any of them want to be on that team that broke the streak.
There is no reason you can't have both.
If KU makes the FF what guarantee is there they get a win? Look at undefeated Kentucky last year.
Where would KU finish in the conference? Second a game back? That would sting.
Winning your regular season title gives you a good record. A good record gives you a better seed in the Dance. A better seed gives you a better road to the Final 4.
Again what player wants to be on that team especially the juniors and seniors who let the streak stop??
@jayhawk-007 like all the positives and a great analyses as well.
Looking forward to the ride this season that's for sure.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I like that sight. It seems to be unbiased one way or another.
It's just fact based.
@DoubleDD in my opinion I think the reason Self and KU don't get a lot of early signees is that he's honest with them. He doesn't guarantee them a thing.
As to why kids transfer, Andrew and Conner played the same position. Add Greene and Selden, that's 4 guys one spot on the floor. Egos get in the way of earning your time and out working the guy ahead of you. Everyone wants to play.
Is it troublesome? In some ways, but to me and again just my opinion, not major ones. Getting pre madonnas in the locker room causes issues and can splinter a team.
Get the guys who fit your system and style of play and who want to work for it. Find guys who are teammates and not me me me guys.
I could be wrong on all points. I might be right in some cases. Again just my opinions and thoughts shared with you all.
@DoubleDD let me clarify the above post. It's not directed directly at you or anyone else for that matter
I just don't understand why people can't embrace and enjoy the team we do have?
I don't care about the recruits we didn't get. I don't care about the recruits we haven't signed yet.
I care about the young men that are suited up for this years Jayhawk squad.
The season is young, very very young and yet everyone is talking about blowing it in March. Or who would help us that is no long on the roster or who coulda been on the roster.
They aren't so why stress and worry.? If you are married and are always concerned what your ex is doing is that fair to your spouse? No it's not.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a very merry Christmas.
Life is what it is. Can't hypothesis on what coulda been.
This team is gonna be fun to watch just the way it is.
Not sure why everyone wants to keep changing it with having this player or that player.
What if Embid was healthy and wearing a KU uniform in his junior year?
What if Ben Mclemore was a senior?
@Crimsonorblue22 all edited now. Lol

@RockkChalkk not adidas shoes😱Nope those were Jumpmans from Nike.
@RockkChalkk that's a good statement from the young man. Especially about the rumors.
I Liked the way he called people out for believing what they want cause they don't have nothing but time to criticize.
Sure I was down on the kid but, not for long and this helps see him in a different light.
@Crimsonorblue22 That is the home of it all. They never once said anything about this prepaid phone or calling card he received from who was about to become his guardian.
They played the old misdirection ploy if they were holding this in ther back pocket the whole time and stating it was his class work.
It was not until Kansas, Zenger and Self called them out publicly on their handlings of the whole situation.
@jayballer54 Well said.
@wissoxfan83 That's a great read. Glad this writer talked about other instances of this wrong doing by the ncaa.
Hopefully more people speak out about what the NCAA is doing wrong to these kids.
Ts time to clean house in the big offices of the blue circle organization and get it set on the right track before some of the major schools decide to break away and start their own new organization.
Who knows what will happen then all around the country.

@DCHawker Agree. I couldn't t believe when I saw that Selden played all 40 mins. Surely he could get the guys a little more rest.
I was unable to watch the game last night but reading post here and other article about the game I'm afraid of Wayme sat any at all that 7 or outcome might have been different.
1). He's young. Quick recovery.
2). He had last night to recover, what are they 7-8 hours behind us I. Central time??
3. He was in Hawaii.
4. He has that long flight to rest his legs.
5 Mext game is Tuesday.
He'll be ok.
@cragarhawk I posted this over on another post "Diallo cleared" and I will cut/paste it here.
Let’s not think he will step in next week and be a 20 minute guy right off the bat.
I’m as happy as everyone else that he is cleared to play. Don’t get me wrong there!!!
Just saying he is in no way shape or form in game shape. 8-12 the first two games. Unless he is completely highly better than advertised.
He will probably get most of Lucas’s minutes and Hunters too. Then Traylor’s as the season goes on.
Let’s not forget that Embid took a bit to get his feet under him in the college game. Black was in front of him in the rotation. Once Joel got his lungs and legs and proved how good he was in a game, then he played until injury.
Nobody needs to get bent out of shape next week when he’s not starting game 1 or playing 20-25 minutes.
Give home time. Let him get adjusted to game speed and his teammates get used to him as well.
Just sayin.
I will add this to it as well. He needs to get timing down on offense with his teammates. Build trust in a game with them. Can they trust him on defense to make the right reads and covers?
It's one thing to do it in practice and another to do it all in a game without coach stopping a play half way through and starting over.
The speed of the game will be a huge factor is in his progression.
So saying conference play or February is setting the bar at a reasonable and obtainable goal. If Self game out and said wait til Christmas and he was fumbling all over the place this board would be blowing up about the over hype.
As KU fans we take a lot for granted and yet we have so much to be thankful for.
Be it Dr Naismith, Coach Allen, Wilt or Bill Self and everyone who has come and gone between.
This year besides this site and ALLthe posters that come with it. Yes even those I argue with and don't agree with I'm still thankful for you input balance is good.
Speaking of balance, I am very thankful that this years team has great balance and chemistry
Be it Wayne the leader one night or Perry the next. Or be it Frank charging forward or Devonte playing solid D. This team doesn't need one guy to take over a game. Heck we could have Svi or Bragg come off the bench and lead the way for a night, and nobody on this TEAM is going to get their jocks in a knot.
This is what I'm thankful for this season. TEAM!
