Jarred Allen looks like a 60's throwback...
Keep in mind that Texas is a pressing team as well...Shaka's trademark...
So, who should they have fouled? Of the 4 OSU players that went to the line 3 shot 100%...just sayin'
KU is playing with 7 players so they have been trying not to foul, only 6 players had double digit minutes. OSU played 10 players an 8 had double digit minutes and Hammond had 9 and only because of foul trouble.
No favorable refereeing that I saw, OSU fouled like there was no tomorrow.
JJ to save the day...
Make the effin FTs...
Running out of hair to pull...
Davonte!!!
We need a run...
FT are killing us....
You mean Carroll?
Carroll having a career day...a KU tradition...
JJ, Svi and Lucas with 3 fouls. Hammond with 4
Should have been...
Another tricky tack foul...
Interesting observation from the Duke-Louisville game. When Pitino called a time out because of mistakes, he would yell at his players as they headed to the huddle. When Capel did the same thing he would tell at the refs, just like rat face does.
KU is the 500 pound gorilla in college basketball; Zenger needs to get his balls back from TWC and demand that ESPN uses a neutral announcer and not one that obviously dislikes KU.
Can we start a petition to have Fran banned from doing KU games? His bias is sickening.
We all got the same thing...F ESPN...
The smurf on steroids has always been a pain in the arse...
Sounds to me like he wants to attend a KU game where he can make the announcement...I like it...
Womance ↗...also "girl crush" or perhaps the better known BFF...
Kidding? KIDDING? What is this kidding stuff? This is a serious sports forum with no room for kidding..
Of course...I am kidding...
No way Coach Self does that. If he announces at the game, best bet is he does it like Selby did, he tells a court side reporter at half time .
Pretty good list except for Melo Trimble; I believe he's way overrated. I have seen him play several times and the Big 12 alone has 3-4 better PGs.
I will guess they drive Friday...this is what I would do. They could fly to Topeka on Saturday but I am not sure that airport is setup to deal with ice; Lawrence certainly isn't. KCI would be a better option but they still have the drive to Lawrence.
Once it is posted on the Internet it never goes away...ever. Probably saved in millions of computers all over.
Every good player that comes along is labeled the next Jordan or the next Magic or the next Bird...and none have gotten there yet. Both Wiggins and Embiid are very young and they have the bulk of their careers ahead, so their greatness is yet to be defined. They both have the potential to be super stars but Embiid has yet to show that the injuries that kept him off the game for 2 full season will not come back. Way too earl;y to have this talk.
The OSU game is on ESPN2 so it is not the feature game. The ISU game next Monday is on the main ESPN channel so it s the featured game.
If you look at the phantom foul call, KSU had the right to be upset because it was a BS call. Refs should not use animosity against a coach to unfairly penalize the team. Coacg rate face wield a lot of power and influence and is never penalized for his contant and very demonstrative
There is an old expression that says children should be seen and not heard; it should also apply to referees. It look like this season there has been an increase in the incident where the refs are taking over games and becoming the center of attention instead of letting players play. To me, the best refereed game is when no one talks about the refs after the game; however, when the talk is about the refs and calls they made or missed, it was likely a poorly refereed game.
I have watched the last couple of minutes of that game and looks like KSU was at the wrong end of bad and critical calls. Did you see the phantom foul call? As far as the "T" it did not look that squeaky is doing any thing out of the ordinary and nothing that coaches don't routinely do and then suddenly there is the call. I am not saying that he did not say something to the ref but I see coaches yelling at the ref all the time and they don't get t'd, if they did, Coach rat face would be gone by the first TV timeout.
I get the impression that Bragg's body has developed faster than his mental ability to handle it. He is still playing like he is 25 pounds lighter and a couple of inches shorter and trying to be a finesse type player. He needs to put his newly developed body to good use by banging inside.
Wake Forest within 3 of UNC with minute and a half left...
He posted a long explanation absolving Allen, but it feels disingenuous..
The press giveth and the Huggy taketh away...
The squid has come out of the box, into the court and pushed a player into position and did not get a T. My question would be...how often do coaches get T'ed for coming out of the box at that stage of the game? Did the refs over reacted?
Nick Collison was at the game with the Thunders's Coach...
He had a clear path to the basket and missed the layup that would have won it for KSU. I am not sure what squeaky did to merit a T, it is not clear from the video.
The first half of the first half was pretty good, KU was ahead by 9 with 9 minutes left. Now, the second half of the first half...not so good; KU scored 6 points in the last 9 minutes.
I remember the big picture and I use search engines for the minutia. Only so much space in my memory...and it keeps getting smaller.
GIYF...
It is obvious we are never prepared when we make that trip, though it requires a great deal of preparation to handle that pressure.
I am sure Coach Self disagrees with you; sometimes it is not how well you prepare of how good the game plan is but how well the players execute them at game time.
The problem with practicing against 7 or 8 players is that it does not allow you to practice to exploit the weakness of the full court press with double or triple teaming the ball carriers. When a team double or triple teams one player, it follows that 1 or 2 players are left wide open and a good team will exploit the weakness by getting the ball to them for easy baskets; this is not possible when you are practicing against 7 or 8 players since you can double or triple team the ball carrier without leaving other players open.
Remember the game against UAB in the NCAA Tournament? UAB had just beat overall #1 UK and played a style similar to VWU. Aaron Miles had a masterful game routinely beating the press and feeding to Simien who parked himself by the basket and had a career day and KU won 100-76. Having said that, I recall the team playing against 7-8 players during practices leading to that game...goes to show how much I know.
Brooks has played 14 of Oregon's 17 games, He averages 20.7 mpg and 13.8 ppg...Good player? Yes. The reason why Oregon is ranked high? No; Oregon has several other very capable players. You are making way too much of Brooks.
Oregon was ranked #4 at the time and yes, they dropped quite a bit but they never fell off the top 25. How about Louisville and Xavier, both legit teams? Should we say that KU's win over #1 Duke is tainted because they had former McDonald’s All-Americans Jayson Tatum, Marques Bolden and Harry Giles in street clothes?
You don't beat teams like Oregon, Louisville and Xavier by being bad. Baylor is a legit and talented team but coaching is definitely below average...but we knew that already...however, WVU can be a match up nightmare for just about every team and that was in full display against Baylor.
WVU lead the NCAA in forcing turnover with 24.63 per game. in comparison, the number 2 team is Fordham that plays in a much weaker conference and has not played the schedule WVU has played and it forces 19.31 per game. Think about it, they force almost 5 more turnover per game than the next team while playing a much tougher schedule. Baylor had 29 turnovers last game. KU averages 12.5 turnovers per game.
Teams play defense in different ways. Some guard the inside, some guard the outside, some will use a zone, some like to give you poor looks and some will go man to man and most will play a combination of the above. WVU is unique in so far that the bulk of its defensive scheme is to cause turnovers, they thrive on it and they are good at it. They will press full court and press in the half court and constantly try to cause turnovers and if you don't take care of the ball, they will dominate you.
Teams with weak back courts are particularly susceptible since they have trouble bringing the ball up court and setting up their half court game and turnovers often result in easy basket at the other end. The system does have a weakness. Since it overloads the back court with the full court press, teams with competent back courts that can quickly bring the ball up will often find unguarded players for easy baskets. I believe that with several payers capable of handling and bringing the ball up, KU will be less affected this time around and hopefully will result in easy baskets...I guess we will find out in 13 days.
The conference has proven once again why you cannot take a game off. It is still the top ranked conference and the difference between the top and bottom teams is considerably smaller than that in other power conferences and the margin of error very small.
Not really a big deal since the bottom of the post shows who edited it and when it was done.
I have fixed posts, links and such for other posters before, but only when requested or after getting permission...just the way I roll...
