Sorry guys but I am having problem with the name...I can't stand Tarantino..
Sounds l;ike your Christmas was a blast... :)
I watch Kimmel; I don't care for Colbert who seems to have copied all the Conan O'Brien moves and has the same annoying liberal diatribe as Letterman did...boring.
@JayHawkFanToo Of course, you didn’t answer my questions about Traylor.
Regarding Diallo and Bragg, yes, I think we win at SDSU without either of them. In fact, I think we could go 25-10 or 27-9 and lose in the first weekend of the NCAA tourney without them, as well.
You missed my point. You could leave just about any KU player at home and still win (or lose) most games, so zeroing on Traylor when the same can be said about any other players was disingenuous, wouldn't you agree?
Against Sam Houston he had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 fouls in 17 minutes. Sam Houston's tallest players are Sands and Fortin at 6'-8" and 6'-9" who combined for 8 minutes and 2 points and had a total of 4 fouls between the 2 of them...in other words, they played a really short line up and were able to foul out the big fella. On the other hand...they lost the game.
The starting 5 for KU, OU, ISU and maybe even WVU and Baylor are fairly comparable, the big difference is the bench. ISU will play only 7 and OU 8 and the bench payers for both contribute very little other than to spell the starters; the 5 starters for both teams are averaging over 30 MPG. KU, on the other hand can go 10-11 deep and not miss a beat...well, may be a little beat.,
Vick was not originally a target recruit and he was more of stocking stuffer as it were. I am sure he knows he is not a OAD or even TAD, so hopefully he has the patience to learn from two outstanding players and take over in his junior year.
Merry Christmas and a great New Year to the entire Jayhawk Nation, particularly to the members of this forum.
May the new year bring a Brand New National Championship and fill our hearts with Joy!!!
FWIW, Ken Pomeroy ↗ now has Oklahoma and KU ranked #1 and #2...OU will be tough but KU has superior depth. Against Hawaii, OU played 8 players, the 3 non-starters combined for 40 minutes and 10 points, 2 rebounds and 5 fouls.. Like ISU, OU has 5 good starters and then the quality drops quite a bit.
Two ways to neutralize him...first, deny him the ball and second, drive to him every play, he may block a few times but he will soon tire and start fouling and he will foul out..we have 5 bigs and can go at him all game long... or start bombing from outside, not much he can do there and if he comes to guard outside he leaves the inside unprotected. I am sure Coach Self will have a much better plan.
Good thing you are not a Michigan State Fan the #1 ranked team...they barely beat Oakland in OT...you would have had a heart attack... :)
OK @HighEliteMajor...do you think we lose last night if Diallo and Bragg missed the flight to SD and didn’t make the trip? We are all very interested.

Maker has improved dramatically over the summer and since the last all-star game when he did not look ready at all. He could be a very good one-year player but I have hunch that getting him past the NCAA process would be like Dialllo part-deux.
Ford and Drew have squandered more talent than just about any other coach I can think of.; Ford is certainly in the hot seat considering how much he makes and the lack of success he has had recently. I did not care for Shaka Smart at VCU and I care even less for him at Texas. Weber is a pretty decent coach, but he cannot recruit or keep players; he has KSU playing well above where anyone expected them to be given their losses in the off season. Huggy is a superior coach that has over overachieved and has won everywhere he has coached.
This is what this forum is for...right? We disagree, try to make our case, agree to disagree and move on...
I am a lot more impressed with the 2-ball drills...dude is unbelievable...
Viejas Arena is consistently listed as one of the top 10 toughest arenas in college basketball. You could hear when San Diego had its run how the place went crazy and the KU silence it wit h run of its own.
Say what you want about Traylor but there is no question that he brought the team back with his energy and hustle and timely rebounds and dives for the ball. The bigs are slowly developing, Mickelson still gets caught out of position more often than he should and the foul on the 3 point attempt was something he really should know better. Bragg and Diallo are still learning the game, and they are not yet strong enough to hold their position with sheer size and get pushed around quite a bit; actually, it is more a question of technique than strength and they are not there yet. Lucas is pretty much ...now you see me and now you don't. he brings rebounding and bulk but very limited offense. Until such time where Mickelson, Lucas, Diallo and Bragg can play more consistently smart, I am glad we have Jamari to fill the void.
In the context that you present it I agree. If UK would have another player than can play the SG close to Murray, I would not hesitate playing Murray at the point instead of Ulis; I really believe Murray is a better .and taller PG than Ulis...not that Ulis is not good, he definitely is, but Murray is better.
Again read my post....
If you watch UK play, you would know that Ulis and Murray are, much like Mason and Graham, pretty interchangeable at the PG and both can distribute the ball equally well. Again, the point was made about Ulis being the better PG and I don't agree with that. Calipari wants to have both players on the court since they are both very good; however, Ulis cannot play SG while Murray can play both positions and, in my opinion, he is better at both, but in order to have both players on the court Murray plays the 2 but has no problem playing PG when needed. Murray played PG for the Canada National Team and he will play PG in the NBA, Ulis at 5'-9", probably will not. It is really that simple...and yes, I do understand.
At the game if he is taking notes for the post-game story, the chat transcript would be as good as any set of notes; not all that different than having the chat hosted by his newspaper. If he does not travel and he is watching the game at home on his own time, he can do whatever he wants.
They are favorites to win their conference and they are still a very good team...when fully healed and provide they don't get any key injuries.; their margin of error is very small
He can always join the chat here... :)
I respectfully disagree. Did you watch Murray at the Pan American Games when he played for Canada or any recent UK games? He is a much better player than Ulis and he is now in all the recent draft projections as a Lottery pick where Ulis is not even listed. Murray is the real deal and he is the player I fear the most when UK comes to AFH. Just my opinion.
Make sure that you look at the date when you look at the NBA draft projections, many sites have not upgraded since the summer and they will not start upgrading until this coming January. Some teams have very soft non-con schedules that makes it hard to evaluate players. Once conference play start the drafty order will change dramatically.
In all fairness, there is no question that WSU was grossly under seeded last season. They were ranked in top 15-20 in every poll at the end of the season and top 10 throughout the season; the lowest the should have been ranked was 4-5. They do have a tough non-con schedule and since VanVleet is back they have wins over UNLV, Utah and St Louis and a OT loss at Seton Hall a good Big East Team.
Yes, he coaches GC ...he was really good and smart player in the NBA.
Wayne Simien is another example of a superior college player that was not meant to be great in the NBA. NBA scouts saw his NBA potential or lack thereof and he was drafted way below where his college number would indicate. In all fairness, maybe his heart just was not in the NBA and he had a higher calling...
Don't let the score of the Louisville game fool you, Grand Canyon is a pretty decent team. Keep in mind that the Louisville game was at Louisville right after they let the game against Michigan State slip away and were looking for blood...remember that after losing to MSU, KU beat Chaminade by 51 points. GC is 10-2 and the only other loss was to Nebraska-Omaha in OT and their record includes a win over Houston and just about all their wins have been by double digits. Not a great team but definitely not as bad as the Louisville score would appear to indicate.
Read my post, please. I was not bitching about tomorrow's game since...for a change, I do have CBS Sport as I mentioned...I wish all blacked out games were on CBS Sports...
Florida's loses have been to Michigan State, Purdue and Miami, the first two are top 10 teams and Miami a top 20 team.
Huge variations between sites and most are pretty dated with projections from last Summer. The real predictions will not happen until conference play is well under way...sometime around February of next year. Until then it really does not matter.
Luckily I do have CBS sports as part of the extended sport tier..
Every KSU, MU and UK game has been available for me to watch, every Big 10, every ACC, every SEC game...KU? not so much.
I sill hate %&$%*&^ Zenger...I am afraid things will only get worse next season...:(
UK has Jamal Murray that is probably better than Ulis...just sayin'
Spot on. A great college player does not necessarily translate to a good NBA player...Morrison comes to mind...he was the next Larry Bird and yet he did not last long in the NBA and now I believe he is an assistant at Gonzaga.
Our guards would have a field day against a 7'-2" PG...think about it...every time he puts the ball on the ground our PGs would steal it; PGs love to guard very tall player dribbling the ball. :)
Let's face it, if their bigs were any good they would be playing for an elite program and not UC Irvine. I can only hope they go with that super tall lineup, KU would literally run circles around them.
Perry does have problems against quality bigs but these guys just ain't it. Perry will have a fine day.
No current spouse to worry about...but I kind of like my life very uncomplicated like it is now...:)
I would not count the win against California as a big win, they were grossly over-ranked at the start of the season based on potential and they have not come close to living up to it.
I love the Del Coronado...it is claimed that there are ghost there...
OU plays 11 players but outside the starters the bench is not that productive; the starting 5 is right up there with KU. OSU surprised me, they lost by 2 points to a good Florida team. KSU is doing surprisingly well and the only two loses are to UNC and Texas A&M, both ranked teams. Baylor was a huge disappointment and I expected a close game against A&M and got spanked instead...the main problem is Drew, nothing new there.
Things change quickly. I personally don't think Diallo is a lottery pick right now and his weaknesses are being exposed big time. He is not alone; Labissiere is also playing very poorly (see my other post) and he is playing himself out of the lottery. The center from Utah Poeltl is playing great , much better than Skal And Diallo and I would call him the best big not named Simmons.
ISU is woefully short on the bench. It played 7 players and that is as deep as they go and there is a drop going from the 5 starters to the bench; the 2 non-starters played a total of 29 minutes and combined for 7 points...you cannot go though the conference gauntlet that short handed. Oklahoma, on the other hand, is the real deal and thy will be tough, they have a bigger bench but not that effective; against Creiighton 6 bench players played 41 minutes total but scored a combined 16 points...on the other hand, Hield is very bit as good as advertised. The starters are averaging over 30 minutes per game. No question that KU's strength is its bench that is deep and very able.
Skal is having big issues. In the lasts 5 games he has played 91 minutes or 18mpg, has shot 6-19 or 0.32, has 12 rebound or 2.4 rpg, 20 points or 4 ppg and 16 fouls or 3.2 fpg. Diallo probably has better numbers. At this rate, Labissiere is playing himself out of the lottery and might need an extra year.
Today is a bad day for referees. Despite their best effort and share of BS calls at critical times, they were unable to help Duke and Kentucky win. However, they are a hardy bunch and the will get up, dust themselves and help tilt a few games in favor of the squid and rat face before the season is over...you just can't keep biased referees from influencing the final score; you might foil them a few times but in the end they will prevail..
What are your thoughts on Diallo? It looks like Bragg is leaps and bounds ahead of Diallo who seem lost at times on the court. He has that crazy athleticism and a motor that will not quit but, save a dramatic improvement in basketball IQ, looks like Diallo should stay 2 years.
I love that version by the Fifth Dimension, one of my favorite bands...
Yes, indeed. I know several people that after decades met their younger days sweethearts and had good endings. I recently got a call from my HS girlfriend who found me though LinkedIn. She has been living in Italy and France for the last 30 years and wants me to come visit her in France...I am still pondering about this...
Like I said, I never heard that nickname in reference to Pollard before. In Sacramento they called him Samurai Scott. His green Cady while at KU was nicknamed Marvin Martian...He is a different dude, that is for sure...but Polly? I still don't like it and prefer BUD.
Yes, it is KSU but still...pretty spectacular...
