Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 10, 2014 12:26 AM

@JayHawkFanToo Exactly. The players aren't trashing talking, and running down KU - it's their big mouth coach, and their arrogant fan base.

GU Intel Estimate • Dec 10, 2014 12:16 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I think Devonte will be excellent.

GU Intel Estimate • Dec 09, 2014 01:17 PM

I thought we covered this on Friday......sigh. Ok, KU beats G-town, and their tubby center by 7 or 8. We'll also beat Utah as well. Its what we do. It's who we are. We have trouble with speedy, hot shooting guards, not immobile blobs in the middle.

Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 09, 2014 01:13 PM

I would say the Shlockers are the team I dislike the most ( at this moment ). I celebrate their losses, and wish them the worst. This, from a team I loved for years growing up, from Cliff, the XMan, and the whole bunch. When you insult us, no game for you.....

Jamari arrested early this morning. • Dec 09, 2014 02:44 AM

@Hawk8086 Joes at 3 am. been there, done that. I used to sop up the alcohol at the Dennys as well. They like drunks there.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 08, 2014 10:09 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I forget how radical I was back then when I was that age. I remember being outraged that Jimmay Carter made us register for "selective service" way back when, and being furious about it. I'm getting older, and I forget how all ideas were measured when I was that age. Back then, I'd try ideas on for size ...some were immediately discarded, some were tried on, and remain with me today. i hope every idea that brings good things are worn all the time by Jamari.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 08, 2014 06:11 PM

@REHawk I did some snooping, and came across this:

That doesn't sound like the Jamari i envisioned in my mind.

Jamari arrested early this morning. • Dec 08, 2014 03:06 PM

@wrwlumpy One perspective says a police officer responding to a strong armed robbery is attacked by said robber, and ends up having to shoot him is a worse crime than inciting violence against an entire race of people that leads to an entire neighborhood being burned down, along with 4 hammer-wielding youths randomly bludgeoning a 31 year old innocent man to death. You are soooo right - there are 2 different perspectives. I recognize I am digressing, and way off topic, so this will be my last post on the subject. Hope I haven't offended anyone.

Jamari arrested early this morning. • Dec 08, 2014 02:40 PM

@REHawk I know you mean well, and you speak to the facts you know. My perspective is this is a well planned distraction, commandeered by communist foot soldiers in the trenches, organizing and inciting violence with the express purpose of creating as much racial animosity as possible. You can't look at any video showing the Ferguson protests without seeing the communists all over it, whether it is the signs being distributed, the actual planning of every event, the free transportation they offer to folks to attend the planned "riot", the free food they have catered, the fiery speeches exhorting folks to go out and create chaos. etc. Just like they did here in Florida with Trayvon Martin; just like they did in Los Angeles with Rodney King. I'm always going to question the motives of any organization whose sole function and purpose is to create as much chaos and mayhem as possible between races.

Like I said in an earlier post, I think Jamari is struggling with being taken out of the starting lineup- not because he has racial animosity towards police officers, If he is having trouble dealing with not starting, that can be fixed. If he has no respect for law enforcement due to the racial issue, well... that's a problem that might not get fixed the easy way, and would portend lots of problems in the future.

I mean no malice or harm towards you, and your perspective.

Jamari arrested early this morning. • Dec 08, 2014 12:49 PM

@REHawk "This incident occurred at an especially explosive moment, as the country has been reeling from innercity mayhem involving police and black citizens."

I know you mean no malice, and you are truly wanting to try to explain why Jamari got arrested. It just sickens me to hear the events described as "innercity mayhem involving police and black citizens."It means the propaganda is working with the general public.

Jamari arrested early this morning. • Dec 08, 2014 12:12 AM

@HighEliteMajor He hasn't been the same since he was taken out of the starting lineup, imo. On or off the court. Maybe him and coach need to have a long talk.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 10:38 PM

@Lulufulu It would be great if he could average 7 boards a game. Nearly unheard of !!!!

Hyperbole de Devante! • Dec 06, 2014 10:35 PM

@drgnslayr I know this off subject, but today is the only day of the year I am an Alabama football fan. They are pounding Misery ....ROLL TIDE !!!!!!!

FINAL SCORE : TENNESSEE 65 K STATE 64

Hyperbole de Devante! • Dec 06, 2014 07:26 PM

@drgnslayr Speaking of Michigan, did you see they got beat by ...New Jersey Tech today? New joisey Tech...Bwhahahahaha....

Two Reasons Svi Sat Second Half • Dec 06, 2014 07:24 PM

@jaybate-1.0 That makes perfect sense. You're on fire today...

Hyperbole de Devante! • Dec 06, 2014 07:17 PM

@VailHawk I wouldn't call it hyperbole, though I'm sure there are those with much better talent evaluations than I on here who might. Valid discussion point. I thought Isiah played with an authority that Devonte will eventually learn. I would like for Devonte to start getting 2nd helpings at the chow line, and put some meat on those bones. Personality wise, he has enormous poise and confidence for a freshman. He is a very good defender, a GREAT passer, and he has enough offensive moves to keep the defense honest.Traps, presses appear to be just another day at the office for him. I wonder how far our team would've gone if Devonte was a freshman two years ago. I absolutely love his game - I see why Coach was thinking about playing him and Frank at the same time.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 07:04 PM

@Lulufulu It would be great, but it's a rare feat for a guard.

@jaybate-1.0Great stuff. Nice post. Donovan is an incredible coach - one of the very best. His offense simply shredded us first half. I am interested in your take on Svi - was the Florida team speed simply too much? It looked like he was very frustrated, and made several poor plays. Graham played much better than him, imo.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 02:45 PM

@Hawk8086 I would like to think Selden planted the flag last night as the leader of the team. I would also like to think that Cliff has to play more minutes... has to.

Newly Chewed Butts Is "Who We Are" • Dec 06, 2014 12:19 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Great stuff. I was taking massive hits from non KU troll monkeys on a college bb thread, as they declared our program 1- DOA 2- our conference championship streak DOA 3- and of course...the charge that we were "over rated". I tired of that, so I went to KU sports, and saw Rodney had crapped his pants, so he was stinking up the thread, so I went internet black, sat back, and watched the most incredible comeback I've seen us make in a long, long time. Great job, Coach. Great job describing the comeback, Jaybate,

Amazing things happen in this building... • Dec 06, 2014 12:11 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Did you see where Selden goes up to Frank, and basically yells at him excitedly? They showed it several times on ESPN. I'm think Wayne is saying " hold up, shorty...this is MY TEAM !!!!!!!!!!"

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 12:08 PM

@jaybate-1.0 It woke me up early. We were down 45-27, and we win 71-65, so we outscore them 44-20 to end the game. It's not how you start-it's how you finish....

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 12:04 PM

@jaybate-1.0 LOL...love it.....

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 04:46 AM

What an astonishing win. The Wayne Selden coming out party was a hit. He just won the job of team leader with that performance. Cliff's 2nd half was beautiful, and Devonte really stepped up. Frank's 2nd half defense was great, and Perry had an ok game. In other words, we looked like dog s*** the first half, made one hell of a comeback, and took this game away. My gosh, we'll be talking about this one for a long time...

Florida Gators • Dec 05, 2014 11:18 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I would choose 1. I think he gets his minutes increase after the Utah game.

Bill Self press conference 12/3/14 • Dec 05, 2014 05:23 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Clutch save ..you hit the winning shot....

Florida Gators • Dec 05, 2014 05:17 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I didn't see hard nosed, tough defense. I saw the worst passing team I can remember. I saw the worst ball handling I can remember. I saw a team that couldn't handle the slightest pressure, with or without Embiid. In short, it wasn't a typical Jayhawk team. Never said I didn't see a team - just not a Jayhawk team I have grown accustomed to seeing.

Florida Gators • Dec 05, 2014 01:33 PM

@HighEliteMajor The problem was giving the new kids the keys to the car. Like you said, they weren't ready for it, and they wrapped the car around a telephone pole. Which is why Cliff isn't starting, why Kelly is pulling 6 minutes a game, and partly why Devonte's minutes are limited. Svi is in a different category because he isn't a freshman, although he's a freshman. I think Coach is doing a much better job ( so far) of dealing with the OAD issue than he did last year, so I hold out hope we can continue to land top recruits without sacrificing the core elements that make this team the Jayhawks. What I saw against MSU was the Jayhawks - I'm still not sure what I saw last year, but we didn't look like the Jayhawks.

My hope is we can blend in the OADs, so we don't have to rely on the Naadir Tharpes. Naadir is the poster child of the Peter Principle.

@jaybate-1.0 Can we handle the ball better than last year? Can we play with poise and confidence? Can Frank, Perry, and Wayne not commit 9 combined turnovers like last year? I thought we played one of the most tentative games I've ever seen last year. My question about our bigs is this: Coach Self always brings up Cliff Alexander's "foul problems", but I can't remember him fouling out of a single game yet. So, why aren't we getting our moneys worth - why aren't we playing him until he actually IS in foul trouble?

@Crimsonorblue22 That's my double knot sense of humor...lol.

@jaybate-1.0 We are hot on the trail of a 7'2" giant out of Zimbabwe. He has killed lions with his bare hands, and has been known to refer to Embiid as the "little one". He has only played the game for 2 years, and is best known for picking up, and dunking the player who was trying to guard him in his first organized game. Local media is reporting that all the ladies refer to him as big'un, and all the men call him "sir". His name is Goodnight Sweetheart. Hope we land him.

( fictional feeble attempt at humor )

@drgnslayr That was 1979, as I recall..hope it wasn't you..lol.

Forgot to mention that the Shlockers got beat last night. Booyah!

@konkeyDong Great stuff. Good post.

@icthawkfan316 I tried it as well, with no luck. Seems this is a job for Jayhawkfantoo...

Kansas Switches To A Platoon System • Dec 03, 2014 06:45 PM

@drgnslayr I just caught your tag line - I remember going to the bathroom one Friday night at the Wheel, and one poor guy was laying on the bathroom floor passed out. On the floor at the Wheel. On a Friday night. His clothing had absorbed a large portion of the spillage on the floor. Yeah buddy...lol. That's one of those bad visuals that sticks with you.

I have no clue how Bill is going to make it all work. I am almost speechless over Oubre, who I had touted uncontrollably anywhere I could. Do we play Oubre, even if playing him hurts us?

@jaybate-1.0 I have decided I'm going to upvote every post you make where you refer to "Stumpy". Love it...lol.

Can we forget the UK loss? • Dec 03, 2014 03:10 PM

Really nice thread. Lots of really good stuff. We are going to be reminded of the UK loss for decades. It will be referenced ad nauseum forever. My take is - so what? It's pretty obvious to me that loss is serving as motivation for this team. This past weekend, I saw a very good KU defense smother their opponents - the likes of which I haven't seen since 2011/2012. No, we don't have the monster in the middle, but we didn't have that in our title run, either. Now, I get it when people say we weren't prepared for Kentucky, that we should blame the coaches, etc. As fans, we feel like we should win every game we play. I've said it before - the last time I thought KU was going to lose a game was when Ted was coach, and Kentucky came into the Phog with Sam Bowie. We almost won that game, btw. If a loss helps us win in the future, even if our players and our coaches stunk it up, a negative can be turned into a positive.

Svi gets some nice ink on CBS sports • Dec 02, 2014 09:59 PM

@konkeyDong I've actually read your posts for probably 10 years, and I hang on every word. If you think he could be as good as Pierce, that's saying something.

Frankamp to Wichita St • Dec 02, 2014 12:46 PM

@nuleafjhawk I don't comment about the Shlockers or their greasy coach very often because I have some very pointed views. Their jealousy and envy are right up there with Misery, imo.

@joeloveshawks I wonder if Wayne is 100%.

@drgnslayr Upvote for the VO reference. Svi is the great perimeter advantage the 2011 team never had. Of course, the 2011 team had a huge advantage in the paint.

When the season started, I was thinking this team reminded me of the 2007 KU team, but I thought I saw glimpses of the 2011/2012 team yesterday. Tough, gritty grinders smoking it on the defensive end, and shooting multiple blanks on the offensive end. Winning ugly, baby. We don't have the massive front line we had back then, but I'll bet we cover the perimeter better than that team. For a second, I thought it was Withey blocking all those shots. Then I put on my glasses, and realized it was Cliff. Was that the good Tyshawn, or was that Frank not playing stupidly? Was that Releford sticking it to their best player, or was that Wayne? Was that EJ out there on target, hitting 3s...or was that Svi? And then Perry, who will never be mistaken for TROB, not even with copious amounts of booze or lack of eye glasses, was looking TROBish in terms of production with his points and his boards ...did we step back to the future?

Tennessee Post Game=PG Play • Dec 01, 2014 04:48 PM

@REHawk I didn't see it that way. I wonder if the 3 games in 4 days took a toll on his knee, and he needs to rest it. Don't like the 0 for 10, but his defensive work in the 2nd half more than made up for the rough shooting night. I know what kind of a player Wayne can be - I saw what he can do in the Red vs Blue game with the outside shot. If he continues to struggle, he'll quit shooting, so even if the numbers stink at the moment, I want him to still shoot. I understand the frustration, though.

TOUGH, TOUGH, WIN !!! • Dec 01, 2014 02:01 PM

@HighEliteMajor There was something deeper going on than who would shoot free throws. Jamari has not been the same player since Coach installed Landen as a starter. i think Coach made a dumb move which could've cost us a game, but it was absolutely brilliant in what it did for Jamari's confidence. It told Jamari that Coach believed in him, and look what happened.

@drgnslayr Mobile Perry has his "wireless" signal hooked in!

Tennessee Post Game=PG Play • Dec 01, 2014 03:37 AM

@icthawkfan316 Svi has changed the entire equation for several players. Coach has no reason to play Svi other than ability, and he gets more minutes than Perry Ellis against MSU. That says it all. It is like having an instant veteran inserted straight into the line up. Our team shot terribly, but I never felt like we were going to lose after we took the lead in the 2nd half. Svi adds years to our team experience-wise, imo.

TOUGH, TOUGH, WIN !!! • Dec 01, 2014 01:55 AM

@Lulufulu Upvote for the Chekov reference.

TOUGH, TOUGH, WIN !!! • Dec 01, 2014 01:54 AM

@icthawkfan316 I thought Lucas looked like he favoring one leg to me. He seemed gimpy to me, so I think he hasn't fully recovered from the stress fracture yet.

TOUGH, TOUGH, WIN !!! • Dec 01, 2014 12:27 AM

@icthawkfan316 I thought beyond Frank, Svi, and Perry, our offense struggled. Lots of rushed clunkers from 25+ feet. Izzo's team has something to do with that. We shot a putrid 37% as a team, 21% from beyond 3. The defenses of both teams are ahead of their offenses, so it was a typical Big Ten wrestling match. And we won the game - we out poised the more experienced team.

TOUGH, TOUGH, WIN !!! • Nov 30, 2014 09:02 PM

I thought our defensive effort was the best of the season. Our offense is still a work in progress, beyond Perry and Frank. Nice, solid Bill Self style win.
