@HighEliteMajor He is a Wildcat. Not a Jayhawk. Great guy, though. I used to listen to the Silo Tech games on the radio growing up, and Lonnie Kruger was one hell of a point guard.
@BShark The Turtles are shell shocked.
@approxinfinity Love that little guy. he was a GREAT player for KU.
@approxinfinity I guess you could say he will do little for awhile.
@mayjay maybe that's where the Nasca lines came from...
@mayjay I'm totally fine with it, as LONG AS IT IS AT LEAST ONE WEEK AFTER THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Other than that, I am totally against it.
So...., we're in the running for the Final Four, but we have a senior who wants to win 25k in the 3 on 3. I don't like it, unless they pay the national champs 50k.
I think Bill might have to look at starting Svi and Vick, and have Preston come off the bench to spell Doke. If Doke gets 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes, we'll need Preston to cover the 5. Maybe Jaybate's 5 out turns out to be 100% right.
No comparison, in my mind. Bill Self wins in every metric except Final Four appearances, and Final Four losses. Bill has done in 2 appearances at the Final Four what Izzo has done in 7 appearances. Izzo has won 7 Big Ten titles in 21 years; Bill has won 17 conference championships since 1997, including 2 back to back Big Ten titles at Illinois.
@KUSTEVE my post about stfu was not meant to end discussion, or to evaluate any discussion. it was meant to say St. Francis U has a pretty messed up abbrev.
I know this is off-topic but would St Francis University's abbreviation be STFU?
@justanotherfan That is why I think the quote was from coach Squid- it had to be somebody that had played against him at Miss St.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/candid-coaches-who-will-be-the-best-team-in-college-basketball-in-2017-18/ β β
Interesting quote from an anonymous coach about KU:
"They do have experience with Svi (Mykhailiuk) and (DevontΓ©) Graham, and then you do have Malik (Newman) who did great in Italy, and you have the big fella (Udoka Azubuike) that sat out. Malik concerns me most. I think he's going to be feast or famine. I think some games he's going to go off or 30, and other games he's in the dog house all day."
Makes me think this is some wishful thinking on the Squid's part. Yes, I think this is the Squid they are quoting- maybe he's trying to get inside Malik's head before our match up.
@BShark Even with the 4 out, I would think he'd get mop up minutes. I see him as the last option on the perimeter. Do you see more minutes for him?
@BShark We're going to have to play 4 out alot.
@BShark I'm a rationalizer. I blow smoke up my butt on some of these players. I accept it as an occupational hazard.
i'm not concerned about the bar bill. I'm concerned about the on court brawl on the court in May, and the fight that happened in practice in July.
And then, there is this:
http://www.espn929.com/articles/929-line-joe-jackson-allegedly-jumped-pick-game-tweet β β
Ok, so in a pickup game with the Lawsons in May, ex-Memphis player Joe Jackson claims he was jumped, beaten, and had a gun pulled on him by the Lawsons. This was at Penny Hardaway's gym, and Hardaway had to step in. My first reaction to the bar tab was it was a big nothing story. Then I run into this story. I'm not so sure now about the Lawsons. 1 fight while playing in May; another in July at our practice. Hmmm.
I also saw this Joe Jackson dude ended up being arrested two days ago, with several guns, and Ecstasy pills. Maybe it's a good thing the Lawsons got out of Memphis for their own personal safety. Remember the "good old days", when all we had to worry about was car vandalism, and a bong in the dorm room?
@drgnslayr I think it's over for us.
@BShark If he was smart, he would pick up the phone, tell Stansbury he made a big mistake, and head right back to WKU.
@BShark i'm going to call it...NEXT!
@jayballer54 I misread the situation. I didn't realize his whole family was in meal ticket mode.
@jaybate-1.0 I was referencing the Black Sky fed drill scheduled on 8-23. Google 9-23.
@BShark i like the way you think.
@dylans I think they are waiting on what the NCAA says whether he is eligible or not. This kid's ego is not going to allow him to sit on the bench for a year waiting to be eligible, imo. He is already being listed in mock drafts as a top 15 pick. i expect if he isn't eligible, he won't go to college at all.
@jaybate-1.0 A black sky reference. August 23rd... two days after the American Eclipse. It certainly will get interesting, won't it? The real mind blower comes on September 23rd.
I posted on the weakness of the current B12 as a reality check on our future- not to run down our prolific conference winning streak, which is one of the most amazing streaks in the history of college basketball. It is simply an incredible achievement, and I am very proud of our coach, our players, and our program.
In the 9 years since we won the national championship, teams currently in the ACC have won 5 national championships ( Louie had not joined the ACC yet, but it shows the caliber of the league). Over the same period, the B12 has had 2 Final Four teams. i understand the luck factor of the tournament, (and I recognize the easy path they gave Dook one year) but at some point, all of these rating systems that always show the B12 as the best have to be seriously questioned, imo. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.
how I missed this thread is beyond me. Great stuff. That kid is going to be dynamite.
@jayballer54 The case could be made that Arizona has signed as almost as many top recruits this year and next as our entire conference. I did a breakdown a few months back where the B12 this upcoming recruiting year had signed far less talent in the Top 100 recruits than the ACC and the Pac12. Heck, we barely beat the Big East. Take KU out of the equation, and it becomes downright pitiful. Now, that was b4 Bamba had signed with UT, so that helps the conference for sure. For the B12 to stay relevant, we need to see OU and UT take a big step forward ( which could definitely happen), TCU to continue to improve, and the Clones not to fall off a cliff w/o Morris.
My opinion is the conference is dead man walking. It's just a matter of time before we have to start scheduling a grueling non-conference because the conference is so weak. We'll end up in the B10, which is why they are rushing to upgrade the football facilities.
@jayballer54 Ou goes to a Final Four - the next year, they are gutted. Iowa St is going downhill. A few years back, the B12 had 3 teams ranked in the Top 10, and 5/6 teams ranked in the Top 25. This year, they're going to be fortunate to keep 3 teams in the Top 25 the whole year. It's going to be a down year for the B12, imo. When the idiots running the B12 turned down Louisville, the handwriting was on the wall. Now the ACC and the Pac 12 are both ahead of the B12. Gees Louise, have you seen all the talent that Pac 12 teams had last year, and have signed for this year?
There could lots of reasons for the delay. It ain't over till it's over.
@HighEliteMajor I didn't poll the team- Bill did. Ok, so all of our losses are Landen's fault. Landen made our guards shoot poorly. Landen made Devonte shoot 0 for 7 against Oregon. Landen made Perry and Wayne collapse against Villanova. Come on, you're confabulating.
Once they put Landen in the starting lineup (after they lost by 19 to Okie St), they won 17 games in row, before losing to the eventual national champion. So, the heinous move bit us once, although when it bit, it bit hard. Here's the real scoop: we haven't had a real front line since 2012. Period. Diallo was cast off by the starters and the coach. Was it a bad call? In hindsight...yes, it was, imho. If Diallo could've worked through the mistakes, and helped us win against Nova, it was worth it. Jamari was thrown around like a rag doll against the big guy from Nova. No doubt there was some teacher's pet going on, like you said. To say it was some great colossal mistake is hyperbole on your part. 17-1 is NOT failure.
To say he would start Lightfoot over Robinson is ridiculous. Instead of making up storylines that haven't occurred to project your distrust of the coach, why don't you hone in on our true failure...our Elite 8 record where we play tight as drum, and our offense completely collapses?
@Kcmatt7 I think they would've announced it by now.
@HighEliteMajor 67-86. Then the whole team said they wanted Landen. That score is how bad we got beat by Okie St in Diallo's only start.
@HighEliteMajor If that is true, why did he start Doke ahead of Landen last year?
@jayballer54 Let's fight. I'll take a half year from him.
Lightfoot was not big enough to play the 5, so the only place he could play is the 4, which doesn't help us if Doke gets in foul trouble. Mitchell will solve that problem.
@Crimsonorblue22 That's hard to do..lol. I thought the only law they had in NO was you weren't allowed to serve a bad meal!
@Fightsongwriter That theory was never advanced by me...
@wissox hey, cut back on the sauce!
The stache for Mitchell Robinson. Yeah, I'll do that.
If Robinson signs with us, and is immediately eligible, we win the national championship this year.

Come on, give the big guy a mulligan, and call it even. He won't be able to look down his nose at a KU roster like he did with the WKU roster. He better bring his lunch bucket if he wants to survive practice. Svengali Self will have him on a tight leash. You won't ruin our team because the team will run roughshod over a selfish attitude. They'll fix him.
@BShark Our 2nd stringers would be a Sweet 16 team. I mean...are you serious? That much talent. Scary good...
Ok, den. Dotson and Zion sign. We will have Charlie, Garrett, Cunliffe, and I think Vick comes back, along with Dotson. The front line is the Lawsons, Doke ( don't tell me he's going pro- he'll have his hands full getting up to the college level ), Mitchell Robinson, Preston, Lightfoot, and Zion. We'll be stacked like a brick s*it house.
[
@Statmachine exciting. let's get him eligible for this year.
