Texas Tech Win: The Death Of Feed The Post • Jan 11, 2015 01:58 PM

Congratulations Christian Garrett nice bucket! Long time coming. I am pretty sure about what he dreamed about last night and for years to come!

Tarik Black Trending • Jan 10, 2015 11:27 AM

Black could be an excellent replacement for Randle. We probably win the Stanford game if he didn't foul out.

Do we go after more recruits? • Jan 10, 2015 12:20 AM

@justanotherfan In our situation it's not about whether they can develop or not. On average we have 2-4 Scholarships a year to give out. No way are any of those Scholarships going to 3 star recruits unless we absolutely strike out in recruiting.

Do we go after more recruits? • Jan 09, 2015 08:45 PM

The day of the developmental 3 Star Recruit is over. That's what I think.

Post game thoughts on Baylor Game. • Jan 08, 2015 06:36 PM

@MoonwalkMafia everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I liked Tharpe too. Who called him a scrub? Fact is he had good moments and bad moments. Good that you brought up some of his better games. However, he also had 15 games last year where he shot less than 30% from the field including 3 zero percent games. There is nothing false about my statement. In fact, my claim is that other players improving can be at someone's expense. Tharpe was a good player that struggled last year.I also remember Frankamp shooting us back into the Stanford game. Not bad for a Freshman.

Post game thoughts on Baylor Game. • Jan 08, 2015 11:47 AM

Last year it was my opinion that Frankamp and Mason were kicking Tharpe's butt in practice and it translated to Tharpe's poor play during games. I can't help but wonder if the same thing has happened this year with Ellis and Svi? Top candidates are Oubre and Traylor. Both are extremely athletic. The way Traylor passed the ball and the way he was in attack mode last night showed me he must be practicing quite well? But at whose expense? The same with Oubre. He has quick hands and can frustrate whomever he is guarding. My point is that somebody's probably catching hell in practice and it may be effecting their game/confidence.

December 30 Starters vs. Kent State • Dec 26, 2014 10:53 PM

@HighEliteMajor Some games Perry will carry this team to victory and some nights he might not have it. It is what it is. We have so much fire power on this team, anyone can be be the catalyst for victory. Lets see: Traylor, Selden, Graham, Svi, Mason, Greene, Alexander, and Oubre have all proved capable in recent KU history. Remember how Traylor took over in the first round game of the tourney last year. The potential is there we just have to bring it to the forefront.

@Blown Because at that point, we would be a laughing stock. That's about as low as it could get. Never mind how someone responded, I mean what choice did they have. They were garbage. One thing for certain is, in the last 30 years, we have not been garbage. I certainly never want to see our Program sink to that level. That is my point! We are 9-2, the sky is not falling.

When this team loses to Robert Morris in the 1st Round of the NIT, then and only then will I be overly concerned. Problem is, when this team is good, it's very good, and when it's bad it's very bad!

@Crimsonorblue22 looks like a little success went to their heads. Welcome back to reality, lots of room for improvement from everyone.Mason is a real fighter.

@JayHawkFanToo Many thanks. Excellent post!

Cheer up, some of our best teams have had horrible losses. Not a fan of small lineups to start the game. I will referred to this game as: "Perry Anna Jones and the Temple of Doom". It was a show I never hope to see again. Oh well, can't wait to the next game!

@approxinfinity That just about says it all.

Oubre Party!! • Dec 21, 2014 10:49 PM

@REHawk Right you are. I was only looking at one scenario, there are so many others. It's great to have options!

Oubre Party!! • Dec 21, 2014 05:45 PM

@ralster When Wayne, Svi, and Greene get it going from 3 point range at the same time in a game, that could be scary with Hunter and Cliff on the boards.

Let the Double Speak Continue... • Dec 21, 2014 05:43 PM

@HighEliteMajor Many thanks. Looks like Self is using all the weapons he has available. I don't know how you shrink this group to 8 players, just too much talent, which is never a bad thing. I think we have enough talent that when a player or two are struggling, it's "next man up" without a major drop off in talent. I guess we are at least 10 deep as well?

Let the Double Speak Continue... • Dec 21, 2014 05:30 PM

@approxinfinity I think Mickelson can be a difference maker. Thanks! I appreciated the way Hunter ran the floor, rebounded, and even hit a short jumper. I guess I did get my wish, wow!

Let the Double Speak Continue... • Dec 20, 2014 04:50 PM

I would love to see Mickelson get some playing time. I think he can knock down the jumper from the free throw line, rebound and block a few shots. I think he is capable of running up and down the court. I think we have enough guards, we need to give the big man a chance and see what he can do. If Hunter can rebound, get up and down the court and block/alter shots I'm sold. Being able to knock down the free throw line jumper would be a plus.

Be Honest • Dec 18, 2014 11:50 PM

@DoubleDD Be Honest. Always. I like this team, just like I do every Kansas Jayhawk Team. I appreciate the fact that the pressure is off this year's team and they could possibly fly under the radar. I wish we had a little more height. One 7 footer would have been nice. I think this team can have a successful year. I like that this year's team has players that are not afraid to step up and take the big shot. Since we are being totally honest, that has not always been the case.

It has never been "win or else" with me. I don't like late game meltdowns, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I have to take the bad with the good. We were not the best team in 1988, but we were Champions. We were the best team in 1997, but we didn't win it all. I like to state my business and move on. Losses that end the season hurt, but it is not a permanent hurt. I respect that fact that other teams want to win as bad as we do. It's not our birthright to go to the Final Four every season. I appreciate every win, and try to move on quickly after a loss. The Program does not die with a loss. Kansas is one of the few schools where losses are celebrated with court rushing from our opponents, and we don't even have to be ranked in the top 10 for that to happen. Kansas is where basketball stops and ends with me. Proud to be a Jayhawk!

KUBUCKETS RULES!!!! • Dec 18, 2014 11:21 PM

@KUSTEVE Congrats on your FF Title. Those can be hard to come by. "Lucky to be a KU fan" = Priceless!

I was also hoping we would run and gun a little bit more. Some good old fashioned cherry picking. Getting a few extra buckets that way wouldn't hurt. Mason could be a real weapon in that regard. Combine that with a few more 3 point attempts and who knows?

I wish we had more height. I wish we had more experience on the block. Oh well, we have to work it with what we have. What I miss is having big men (Morris Twins) that could step right into a 3 point shot with plenty of size down low for a rebound. Those days are gone. What we have now is a team with no fear. I look at this team during crunch time, and I don't see anyone on the team, that I am praying doesn't touch the ball. I see a lot of confident shooters. This thing can come together, maybe not the way we are accustomed to. I see a team that is good enough to keep tough games close, knock down a few timely jumpsuit and come through at the free throw line when needed. I still believe.

Dang KU! • Dec 14, 2014 12:29 AM

Jamari came to play today, wow! What a sensational block! He did not look the least bit distracted. Totally focused on basketball and a joy to watch!

I just want to win!

Plenty of talent on this year's team. If this group is given the green light to shoot from deep, they can be scary. Greene can knock down shots. Svi will get it going again. Seedless is a threat from deep, as are Mason and Graham. I love the confidence of this team. Turn them loose Coach Self and let's see what they have!

Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 07, 2014 01:31 PM

How do I feel on the subject? At this point and time, it would be great for both teams and generate a lot of interest for the state of Kansas. WSU Basketball has improved quite a bit in recent years. I don't know if they go undefeated had Creighton remained in their Conference last season, but they were a great team. I would say schedule a home and home for two games, and see if it works? If so, continue to renew it on a two year basis. If not, cancel it. Chances are, they will meet in the NCAA Tourney eventually. @ralster all of the comments that you heard from the ladies are just what fans do. Is anyone ever completely satisfied when it comes to athletics?

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 10:59 PM

@drgnslayr Hopefully, it will come in time. Thanks.

Holy Snikeys • Dec 06, 2014 11:14 AM

Great comeback win. Traylor did not have a good game. He did however, chew an awful lot of gum. I thought Mickelson would get a chance. This would have been a great opportunity for a shot blocker, especially the first half. Glad to see the team just play ball in the second half. They look too robotic when they run the offense at this point. Long way to go with this year's team. Georgetown on the road will be the kind of experience we need to prepare us for Conference play. Hopefully, everyone will appreciate how hard it is to win in D-1 basketball, and what an excellent job Coach Self has done over the years making it look too easy at times.

Kansas Switches To A Platoon System • Dec 04, 2014 01:28 AM

@JayHawkFanToo Thanks, I agree relatives add to the unnecessary pressure placed on young student athletes.

Kansas Switches To A Platoon System • Dec 03, 2014 11:21 PM

@HighEliteMajor OAD is not for everybody. There is too much pressure to excell immediately on young Freshmen and the culprits are mostly the media and fans. There have been many Freshman that actually want to attend college and learn the game of basketball at the Collegiate level and then proceed on to the professional level. Oubre will develop at his own pace. He is extremely talented and it will not be at anyone's expense. Oubre was never a OAD, he was highly rated. Again, the media and fans tag these kids and it is unfair. He is an extremely confident player that is not afraid of the big moments. He just needs time. After all, it is his Freshman year in College.

Frankamp to Wichita St • Dec 02, 2014 01:06 AM

Congrats to Conner Frankamp. He should thrive at WSU.

Goooooood Morning Lawrence, Kansas!! • Nov 25, 2014 01:29 PM

@jaybate-1.0 excellent

@jaybate-1.0 I don't think the expectations are reduced. We still have a top 5 team. We will be motivated for the rest of the season. We are Kansas. We have a squad of excellent D-1 players. We are a few weeks a way from where we want to be.

I'm Done • Nov 24, 2014 03:16 AM

@HighEliteMajor We got ambushed by our own Coach, point blank. We did not have any height on the court until it was too late. We have height. I don't recall seeing Lucas or Mickelson getting dominated? Then again, they weren't really in the game when it mattered. There is a method to the madness. Coach Self said our opponent is probably 3 weeks ahead of us, since they had 6 competitive games against professionals in the Bahamas prior to the season. Ambushed was a strong word, but so was the score. The box score, with the exception of our shooting, actually didn't look so bad. We can and will compete this year. If it is in fact Coach Self's fault that we weren't prepared to play the game, then by not having our team prepared and putting our team in the best possible position to win, and based on the score of the game, I call it getting ambushed. It is a teaching lesson, and I am sure he didn't think it would get as bad as it did. However, there were not any references to Topeka YMCA, there were references to Vodka. Anytime Coach Self spends more time laughing than chewing out players, then it appears he treated the game as an exhibition at this point of the season. My opinion.

I'm Done • Nov 23, 2014 04:57 PM

@HighEliteMajor Coach Bill Self is the individual charged with having the Kansas Jayhawks Mens Basketball Team ready for competitive matches. Personally, I think he allowed his team to get ambushed to prove a point. He has enough reasons now, to get the players to buy completely in to his program. They will run the offense efficiently. Other than boxing out, crashing the boards, allowing the opponents guards to dribble past mid court without any threat of defense, shooting floaters and finger rolls instead of dunking, and not one player on the court rallying the ball club, i thought they did okay. Based on that performance of the basketball team, Coach Self did not have the Kansas Jayhawks ready to play a competitive basketball game. Hopefully on Monday we will see what this team is supposed to look like.

I'm Done • Nov 22, 2014 09:32 PM

@wissoxfan83 Too funny! Glad to know you're not going anywhere. Obviously, some did not see your second post, right below your first one. Great post, and amazingly funny! You have a great sense of humor.

Taking a deep breath after KU-UK debacle • Nov 20, 2014 02:51 AM

Relax, it's not like we just got eliminated in the first round of the NIT by Robert Morris. This we will overcome. I watched the whole game last night, did not turn the channel or turn off the television. I can't turn my back on the team, not wired that way. Probably why I enjoy every victory and every accomplishment. We are Kansas, and I am very proud. Everyone including the fans, the players, and the coaches need to buckle up and get ready for the ride. Go Jayhawks!

Taking a deep breath after KU-UK debacle • Nov 19, 2014 11:49 AM

They are not nearly as good and we are not nearly as bad. At this point of the year, the lights were too bright for us. Our shooting was horrible. That's it. Our junior leaders folded. Our big men sat the bench. We shot the ball terribly. We did not deserve to play in this game, and Coach Self has plenty of teach material from the game tape.

Coach Cal made an excellent point in his post game interview, when he asked how many kids of this caliber would give up minutes for the good of the team? (Frankamp)

We are not that bad, we need to shoot much better and stop giving up so many put backs. Coach Self will get this team together.

Most embarrassing point of the game was when Perry Ellis grabbed a rebound and dribbled out of the paint. Also, Selden passed the ball to absolutely no one, twice! Hopefully shots will start to fall, and we will show some confidence on the court. Don't know who the leaders of this ball are at this point.

Don't Believe The Hype • Nov 17, 2014 12:51 AM

@drgnslayr We have not attacked the passing lanes like this since '08. I think you are on to something as far as controlling the tempo. I think we will be just fine this year. A great mixture of talent and experience in the program.

Don't Believe The Hype • Nov 16, 2014 10:33 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Well said. I believe you are right on point!

@KUSTEVE Yep, nothing is decided by the media.

Don't Believe The Hype • Nov 16, 2014 06:01 PM

@DinarHawk I am in agreement with you. Games are decided on the court and not by press clippings.
