Switched to guard. Juan knocks ball out.

Had his man boxed. WEAK rebound attempt. But got fouled. No rebound but should have been. A more aggressive attempt here is a secured rebound.

Guy drops ball off his leg. Not great help D from KJ, but I suppose enough to bother the guy on the catch.

One rebound he should have had but didn’t this far.

KJ up top defending. We gave up a layup, so regardless no rebound. But good to note.

Switched to guard. Would have been up top on a 3 pt attempt. Basket was made though. No rebound.

Switched. Was guarding a guy up top, Juan got the steal though.

Switched to a guard. Was up top when Storr jumped the gap.

Noting early, KJ switched to a guard A LOT. Would not be shocked if this was a lot of the reason for his lower than expected rebound numbers.

It’s honestly unreal this team has a roster good enough to have a guy like Storr coming off the bench.

Doing some KJ rebounding analysis tonight.

So far, one of the plays he was up top defending his man. One was a long rebound. And then he now had a tip on O that kept the play alive where he won’t get credit for a rebound.

I like KJ. I just think he plays too many minutes to be his best. We have the bench depth, him playing 30+ minutes is dumb at this point.

Really would like to see some more minutes without KJ on the floor to see what a spaced floor can do around HD

Defense is going to need to force a turnover

Whenever possible, rule of thumb is do not put the game in the hands of your college kicker.

KJ does a lot of unnoticed things. He is a guy who helps break the press easy. He guards VERY well. He has great court vision. He scored sort of effortlessly at times last night.

He doesn’t guard the other forwards, he switches everything. So he isn’t going to rebound like a traditional big man. Does anyone think he isn’t getting rebounds because he doesn’t have the motor to go get them? He’s the highest effort guy on the court at basically all times…

I feel like there is more to that story. I’ve never had the patience to go watch the film to see what it is, but I feel like there is some good reasons why he doesn’t put up big rebound numbers.

This team is going to get so good as the season goes on

Braun and Ochai became nba wings along with Jalen - which is what carried us. 3 nba level guys on that squad which we don’t have today.

Bringing up Philon - I don’t need to see anymore. He’s better than Juan and Moore. 6-4 with 6-7 wingspan and a legit nba prospect. Yeah let’s stick with the 7th best pg in the big 12 who can’t stay in front of his man.

Whether it’s Self, his system or what. Spencer wouldn’t have had as good of a year here as he did uconn and Labaron wouldn’t be performing the way he is here like he is at bama. The reason is because how strict Self is with running his system.

He killed Storr’s confidence and many many others.

He needs to balance letting guys come in and play their way aggressively and slowly meld it to fit what he wants so by January it works.

Instead he tries to break them of every bad habit from the tip and neuters them. This has happened for two decades here with countless players. Wish he’d mature in his thought process.

If you’ve taught any sport the ability to retain confidence while tweaking the player is crucial. With the portal we don’t have 2-3 seasons to tear a player down and rebuild him

Self retired after this year or next - book it

Storr has literally not played a minute of meaningful basketball yet in a Jayhawk uniform and we are acting like he hasn’t had a game in double digits headed into conference play… get a grip lol.

Nobody would have thought the 20-21 team would develop into the ‘22 team. Also the offseason haul of guys this year was pretty insane. A bit early for this take.

@BeddieKU23 the fit was always weird. A guy who is a ball stopper that doesn’t play D coming to a school that moves the rock and is expected to play D.

I think he figures it out but it’s kind of Like Malik Newman where it may take some time.

Always the possibility Griffen knocks him out of the starting lineup as well. And the Storr comes in as a “2nd unit” type of guy and that fits him better.

This is a conundrum. I think it’s hard to bring him back after this season because it feels like it’s time to turn the page.

Talent-wise I get the argument for keeping him. But I genuinely wonder if a year from now he’s the best QB on the roster.

Bad teams make losing plays. It makes it so much harder to watch. A bad team that is competitive is so much more heartbreaking to watch than a bad team that’s awful.
