@BShark A truly awful person. Her twitter rants during this and now all the texts and payments that have come out... Ooooh boy. Cost her and her son millions of dollars.
@mayjay You don't get to choose your parents unfortunately. I liked Billy a lot leading up to the season.
I have yet to see Mitch prove he can hit a 3 in a real game against D1 opponents.
@BShark I think Self would have let several guys leave.
@Woodrow I didn't say they got a raw deal. I'm just pointing out that not every player that leaves really had a choice. That's all.
I'd even be in favor of coaches having the ability to grant a waiver that allows certain players to transfer without sitting. If it is a mutual thing or it just didn't pan out, coaches could let players transfer without sitting at all. But it would be up to the coach.
@Woodrow Cunliffe. Maxwell. Greene. Adams. Bragg. Tharpe. CJ Henry. Appelton. Quintrell Thomas. CJ Giles.
Maybe not all those guys got "kicked to the curb." But Bill made sure they could see the writing on the wall. Even if any of those guys wanted to stay, it wasn't really their choice.
@Woodrow I mean having a credible source, under oath, say he gave Fenny money is a pretty good start to a trail. If Fenny didn't take money, just show your bank accounts. It isn't that hard. If he did nothing wrong, just come out and prove it.
I'd show you mine right now. It's not impressive and I have nothing to hide.
@Woodrow I think that is probably the most likely scenario as well.
@BShark At this point, I think the NCAA can probably put the burden on Fenny. This isn't a criminal trial. This isn't innocent until proven guilty at this point either. They have legit reasons to ask Fenny to prove he didn't take any money.
@Woodrow I still think games will be taken away from KU if Fenny can't prove he didn't take more than the $2,500
Wetzel has seemed pretty unbiased through the process. No issues with anything he wrote. If we have to give up games because of De Sousa, it will suck but it is what it is. Crappy way to end the streak. But it would almost be poetic. For years we all talked about the pressure of the streak. If we lost it this way instead of actually losing it, seems like it could almost be a good thing. Now the focus can be winning another NC. And no team had to go through the embarrassment of blowing the streak.
@JayHawkFanToo Your solution makes no sense lol.
By dropping an exhibition game they would have to also refund season ticket holders for that game, or piss them off very much. They would have to pay the other school they planned to play still. And then when it is all said and done it cost both schools $500k each to host a Charity game that raised $1.5M. It is not a logical solution.
Especially when they could just a play a 3rd game and raise $1.5M with no added expenses to either team. And this doesn't even consider the fact that your solution still has them breaking the NCAA guidelines of playing another D1. So you're ok making an exception of one rule, but not this rule? Why?
I think they are going to be in for a rude awakening. He is plenty athletic enough to be a OAD. But he is like really bad at basketball lol. He has no left. His shooting form has a little hitch to it and his elbow is a little funky. He doesn't look to have good enough post moves to score at the college level.
He has about a 5% chance to be a OAD imo. And that is if he works his ass off.
It wouldn't kill CBB. Just become a nightmare for coaches. I don't agree with the proposed rule change. I do agree players should be able to leave if their coach leaves. But that's almost as crazy has suggesting teams play a 3rd exhibition charity game to raise money for hurricane relief. The NCAA will NEVER go for that.
@JayHawkFanToo I can't even take you serious lol. Your stance on this is so hilarious!!! Like I feel like I'm getting punk'd. Its hysterical at this point!!
UNC SHOULD HAVE PLANNED TO GET HIT BY A HURRICANE A YEAR AGO!
Nolander's tweet about how Preston received the money after attending KU is interesting. But it certainly sounds like everyone is adamantly saying Self and staff were not in the know, so I guess it doesn't matter one way or the other.
@BShark I'd love if this is how it turned out. The length and athleticism you can put out there with Garrett at PG gives me chills. Seriously, not a player under 6'5. Imagine the number of steals...
@BShark By putting him on the ball, you almost force someone to guard him.
If Garrett can drive the lane, dude should seriously be considered for starting PG. He'd be like a 6'5 Aaron Miles. Now that is a crazy hot take, but just the defensive presence we could put out there with him playing PG would be insane.
@BShark I love the idea of the long lineup
@BigBad I think probably. Compliance probably doesn't even take a look at it unless something happens and they have to cover their asses. Like a police report where a Charger is crashed and it not belonging to Billy himself.
@BShark Oh I know.
@BeddieKU23 I think Bill just recruits who he likes, period. And has faith in his staff that they won't do anything shady so that nothing falls back on them regardless of how idiotic parents and family can be.

@BeddieKU23 Of course we would still be in the same boat if we landed Ayton apparently.
Yep. Would prob have a title tho.
Don't even let me start thinking about that lol.
But $2,500 sure seems like we could get out of that one. 3 game suspension lol. Whatever Sexton got.
@BeddieKU23 Of course we would still be in the same boat if we landed Ayton apparently.
@BeddieKU23 He doesn't come here if Ayton doesn't get a shit ton of cash to go to Arizona.
Looks like we may have gotten past the worst of it. And came out looking pretty damn clean... Of course, 11 days still left and I don't want to speak too soon.
Maybe, just maybe, we should regulate the banking industry a little more since it is U.S. Government Backed and they are a little more than reckless knowing that they have a safety net to always fall back on?
@BeddieKU23 Summary so far:
- Nas Little offered $150k to go to Arizona. Laranaga (supposedly) said they wanted him at Miami, so they ponied up.
- Delivered $40k in cash to NC State Assistant Coach in person.
- Paid $15k to a Deandre Ayton relative to give to Deandre as a sweetener trying to sway him to Adidas.
@BeddieKU23 Yea I don't know the credibility. But at this point, they have an Adidas board member emailing him and Gatto and basically saying do whatever you have to.
@Woodrow It'll come after employment corrects itself and a ton of people lose their jobs. Which will come after equity starts leaving the stock market (this is starting now obviously) and companies start having cash flow problems.
@BeddieKU23 Many of the things today have been recorded phone calls and text messages. So, pretty believable it seems.
Oh it's about to tank. Don't forget what will become gas on the fire. The expensive houses that everyone just bought and the current overemployment that are going to compound each other. And, now that interest rates are going back up, that means people won't be able to get out from stupid mortgages after they get fired and can't afford the overpriced house they just bought. So they'll pull money out of their retirement, taking floods of money out of the market, further driving it down. Banks will lose a ton of money from crappy loans that people default on.
Ok Gassnola's testimony and phone calls/texts are kinda crazy. Sounds like Laranaga and NC State Assist. coaches had direct contact and knowledge. Also sounds like Gassnola is throwing everyone under the bus he possible can. This is probably the most important testimony for both sides.
Today is probably the biggest day for KU in the investigation. Defense's turn to go at Gassnola and they will be trying to prove schools aren't victims, meaning Self may be in the crosshairs.
@JayHawkFanToo May I add in that the NCAA basically already backed what I said. They can be grouchy and tell kids to get off their lawn anytime they feel like it. They just let KU play 3 exhibition games last year for Hurricane relief as you already know. And were still able to tell the Carolina's they don't deserve to have any hurricane relief.
I hope Beaty gets Goose Egged on Saturday.
He may very well put together something of a fab 5...
@JayHawkFanToo It's not a slippery slope. Coaches wouldn't want to risk players. People would stop coming if they were too frequent. There could be guidelines sent out for teams to follow or their waivers will get denied (like the game must be within a bus distance of roughly 3 hours). The NCAA would still be in complete control of the situation if they wanted to be.
@BeddieKU23 I'd love to see Self become more aggressive defensively and play a full 11 man rotation, but he is so damn stubborn. I expect to see 11 guys until B12 play. At that point, hopefully we are playing so well that he can't sit anyone.
I just don't know where you sit guys. Usually it is easy to see the 8. Or hell, really the top 7. But not this year. We have a top 25 team sitting on the bench.
Truth be told, I expect to see Big Dave get almost no run come conference play. Unless Mitch becomes a great trail 3 point shooter and lob passer, he won't play. So that puts us at 9 pretty quickly. I think KJ might end up eating any minutes at the 4 not picked up by Doke, Dedric and DeSousa.
That's as good of info as you can basically get at this juncture.
"Unlike the Louisville allegations, which seemed far more sordid, the Kansas stuff seemed fairly tame. There wasn't any link between the Adidas money and the Kansas coaches, at least at the trial. As a result the cross-examination of Mr. Smith was fairly uneventful"
So why did we sit Billy, is the question I want to know. Was it the car not being under Billy or his mom's name or something?
No major updates yet today it looks like. De Sousa info will come out either later today or tomorrow after JT Gassnola takes the stand.
Is there a way to watch this?
Such a slippery slope. We start having hundreds of charity events a year and who knows what could happen!!! We might fund some organization that cures a disease or maybe something even worse!
This is a win-win for everyone involved.
Edit: Well really this is a lose-lose because they don't get to play the game.
@BShark Lol hey I'm not judging. Whatever gets the job done for cheap is by far the best way to go. I just really like that I can watch 4 in 1 picture on the Apple TV ESPN app haha.
@justanotherfan @BShark Definitely has it figured out, imo. Basically what I would do if I didn't have my parents DirecTV login information.
Between PSVue and Sling you can get pretty much everything. Personally, I would get an AppleTV to watch everything on. The Roku and Fire are fine, but the apps are just better on AppleTV.
I mean we have Zeke, JRE and Stanley all deciding by the end of November. So I'm glad he is making them the priority.
I would say that getting a bunch of Juniors in for a game like Nova would be dope. Bring in like 5 together. Definitely make it all about the hype and atmosphere this visit. And then basketball the next one.
@BeddieKU23 Then yea, you're right. We need to start bringing in as many guys as we can then. I'm sure you'll see some. Seems like Self may be trying to lock down these early guys first. Then he can probably focus on Hurt and 2020 guys.
