There's a trend developing with this KU team. They play badly in the first half. Self makes halftime adjustments, meaning he screams and probably throws some chairs. And then KU plays better in the 2nd half and wins.
Lightfoot in for instant offense.
Don't worry, NMSU. It's only your 3rd.
Lazy defense.

@wissox what are you going to do, ride the el around asking random people about shoe co conspiracies?
Yes.
2 fouls on NMSU the whole game.
BShark said:
Might as well play Dave.
lol
They aren't calling reach fouls at all so Kansas needs to be aggressive.
Dotson was fouled.

Can you guys and gals believe it, I just looked at ESPN and Zion dunked today.
Well he did bring the 2-point shot back to college basketball according to ESPN, so that makes sense.
I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike Dan Hurley more than I already do, but...
49
48th foul just called in the FSU-UConn game...

ESPN is so stupid. Did Charlie Moore start?
Ya
Dear lord, 8 minutes left in UConn-FSU...
Big 12 is a mixed bag at this point. KState, West Virginia have disappointed, but Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Oklahoma have exceeded expectations. Iowa St, especially, when they are healthy will not be a fun team to play against.
KState has 33 points at the 11-minute mark in the 2nd half. Is that good?

OU piss pounded WSU.
MSU beat Florida.
Seton Hall just beat UK and the Rupp refs in OT.
Good day so far!
And West Virginia beat Pitt.
All of the shots Iowa missed against Michigan St. they are making tonight against Iowa St.

Garrett was "without a doubt" Self's potg against Wofford. Interesting.
His defense was really really good.
Really looking forward to the neutral-site game between Tennessee and Gonzaga on Sunday. It will give us a chance to see how good KU's win over the Vols really was. And the Williams, Schofield/Hachimura, Clarke matchups should be a lot of fun.
Gonzaga looked tired and lazy last night and Washington is a decent team. I don't think Duke is quite as good as everyone thinks either; they were only up 33-24 at halftime against Hartford (3-7) at Cameron. Gonzaga has a depth problem with Geno Crandall and Killian Tillie out right now. When they're healthy I think they're as good as anyone. I don't think Gonzaga's game last night was any worse than KU's game against Stanford. Washington is better than Stanford.
They're 9-3 since Butler left and Wiggins seems to be playing better. Team seems to be having more fun. Hope he keeps it up!
Wondering how Duke keeps challenging themselves with powerhouse mid-major schools like the Stetson Hatters (1-8) and the Hartford Hawks (3-6) and stays ahead of KU in the NET rankings when they have 1 loss and KU has 0 losses.
@BShark Even without perimeter shooting, the 4-1 look with Dedric as the lone big really opens the floor for our guards to drive. If Dedric can step out and knock down 3's it helps even more.
I'm not convinced that the 4-1 is the solution for every matchup, though. It works really well against a team like Wofford that isn't very athletic and just shoots 3's. I'm not sure we can get away with it playing against bigger athletic teams that will throw the ball inside.
I think the rebounding suffers a lot with a 4-1 look; we got beat on the glass 45-36 yesterday. It would be nice to have the rebounding vortex SDS when we play small to help mitigate that problem.
If the season ended right now I might give it to Zion. He has a ridiculous 44.1 efficiency rating at present. I expect that to go down as Duke starts playing teams that won't just let Zion dunk all the time. Next would be Hachimura and 3rd would be Dedric.
Dedric is averaging 19.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and has a 27.2 efficiency rating. He's only shooting 46% from the field and 9.1% from 3. If he gets his shooting percentage up, he'll probably win national player of the year.

@mayjay Perry is much more athletic. So far, better outside shooter.
3-point shooting is about the only thing Ellis is better at than Dedric. Ellis shot 43.1% from 3 at Kansas, so that's not likely to change, even if Dedric starts shooting better.
Dedric is a better passer, rebounder, probably defender, and gets to the line more.
Northwestern is up 52-51 on Michigan with 6 minutes left.

@KirkIsMyHinrich for some reason, I don't think much of Lon. I really lost a ton of respect for him how he coached up his team last year. Before that, I always thought he was so uninspiring. Not a coach that would be fun to play for. I'm weird.
I think he's a good coach. But I thought his intentionally fouling Doke was pretty chickenshit.
West Virginia went on a 9-0 run. Only down 30-27 now at halftime.
Apparently Lon Kruger is a pretty good coach.
I just really don't understand why he doesn't play.
Plot Twist: Bill Self isn't playing Dave so that he stays at KU longer.
BShark said:
Can you all imagine ESPN if Duke went on a 27-0 run in a close game?
They'd probably move Duke up to 6th or 7th place in the Eastern conference.
Ya that's really too bad. Get better soon, Doke.
Every box score is an adventure. Vick and Doke with 0 points tonight and still a 25-point KU victory.
Final: Oklahoma 85 - Notre Dame 80

@KirkIsMyHinrich you think he wants to get the other 2 time together?
Honestly not sure.
This is the first game that I wasn't biting my finger nails near the end.
I know we've beaten this to death tonight, but why the hell doesn't Dave play more?
DAVE!
Love the passing, though.
Imagine if KU could shoot 3's. They are 3-20.
I think the lead is big enough that Dave can get some run. Please?
Is Self adapting to the times and playing a 4-1 instead of a 3-2, or is it just because we're playing Wofford and Doke is hurt?
Dotson is so fast.
Good pass Q
I mean this is good defense by KU, but I think Wofford is taking some really bad shots too.
