@brooksmd yeah yeah, tit for tat
@jaybate-1.0 :laughing:
@Crimsonorblue22 OH hey! Trump would approve of this!
Sorry, couldnt resist.
Where's the Shaking my damm head Emoji?
@Crimsonorblue22 Man! Embiid switched onto him after that screen and had him locked down!! Whoa, that was cool!!
@drgnslayr solid post at #32. My main questions revolve around our bigs this year. Basically, how good of a rim protector will Bragg and Udoka be and will they be able to stay out of foul trouble.
We already know what our returning guys are going to bring and they should get better than last year.
Bragg will have an increase roll though. Will Bragg > Perry their sophomore seasons? Its unfair to compare Senior Perry to Sophomore Bragg. But I think Bragg may be a better soph.
@jaybate-1.0 Im all for those non linear leaps in neural net connections. Fascinating stuff the brain is. Billions of connections and can be compared to the number of stars in the universe
@Crimsonorblue22 Can you post it here? I havent seen it on ESPN yet.
@HawkChamp I believe you're correct. But, Coach Self won't bet the house on playing that way. He will only use it as a weapon in certain cases, limited minutes.
Just checked the box score for tonights game 76ers vs the Wiz.
JoJo put up a Double Double in 14 minutes!!! 11pts 12 boards! 1 block 1 steal 14 minutes! Wait till they give him the green for double and triple those minutes. If someone is gonna beat JoJo out for Rookie of the Year this year, I dunno who it could be. I mean, its way way early, not even regular season yet but Joel is killing it out there!
@kjayhawks You know, ESPN filming their practice probly was because of that new combine BS... I mean there were like 90 NBA scouts there! Very true they look better in practice. Wait til they get into crunch game time against our group...whole different ball game.
@Kcmatt7 Yeah, my thought process as well after I got over the shock of seeing LB at a Kentucky practice.
Kentucky's gonna be gooood this year peeps. I may retract my earlier statement about KU winning at Rupp this year. As of now, I am on the fence. Both their lead guards are young but man those kids are fast and can handle the ball well. Both taller than Frank and DG, although that hasnt stopped them before.
People!
Im watching the Kentucky Bball practice on ESPN replay and Larry Brown is AT the practice!! He's even wearing Kentucky things!
Defection?
What the crap!?
And may all our enemies die in flames...Muaahahahahahaaaaa!
@drgnslayr Back this post up and copy it to the new site man!
This is one that I would like to see continued into the winter.
Another added thought regarding perimeter roster depth. Bill Self likes to have an 8 man rotation, solid. Case and point the 2008 team. Starting 5 plus Sherron, Kaun and Cole/Rodrick.
We got that now with equal experience coming off the bench this year Our starting 5 plus Junior Svi, Soph Vic, Fresh Udoka. We still have Lightfoot and Coleby there too.
Its hard to compare the two teams because there are a lot of fundamental differences. But I think we have every bit as much chance to match the win loss total of our NC team.
@approxinfinity Lemme go copy that @jaybate-1.0 post about 9/16 from our bigs. I need that one!
HAHA!
@MR11 Solid picks. I am Bullish on our team and think KU runs the table in the Big 12 this season.
Agreed that WVU and Okie state away games could be much tighter games tho.
@wrwlumpy I picked KU to lose 3 games this season against 37 wins.
I dunno about these Ichabods, they might be a little to much for our Jayhawks.
Totally kidding.
@KUSTEVE Just off the top of my head, 3 losses against 37 wins. Im not looking at the schedule, just plain ole' gut check feeling.
@drgnslayr Here's a question, Is there any possibility of Clay Young or Tyler Self or Tucker Vang getting spot duties at PG, SG? Would Coach Self trust his sons abilities during his senior year to give him minutes at PG or SG to spell Frank and DG if needed? Not that we are in a crunch for players here like we were in 11-12 when our bench consisted of Conner Teahan
@approxinfinity Howard Dean's howl was epic btw. :laughing:
@wissoxfan83 Ok, who is the guy above Yoda?
@justanotherfan Solid post! I couldnt agree more. Especially about Wilt!
@dylans That makes perfect sense. John Wooden has one named after him.
@drgnslayr HAHA! :laughing: I knew it! Kentucky fans are Russian spies bent on the destruction of KU basketball!
@jaybate-1.0 HA! Thats excellent
But yeah, he kinda does need to bring an NC back to Larry town before the "world tour"
Whew!! Im glad this post survived the data dump!
I'll rest easy tonight.
@wrwlumpy Yah
@wrwlumpy LMAO!
@KUSTEVE I hear that fried frog tastes like chicken.
@nuleafjhawk PHOF!
@Mikey-P Good post dude. I havent read anything negative yet cuz well i havent read anything. I think everyone needs to keep in mind that KU was not going to run the table this season in the Big 12. The conference is soooo tough this year. Arguably the best in the nation. KU got beat by a very very good team coached by Huggie at their place. Surely KU could have showed up to play last night and gotten the job done but they didnt. Will it happen again? Dunno. Dont particularly want it to and Im sure our boys dont want it to either.
I think Coach and the team needed this loss. Its a personality builder. Now they know with absolute certainty that they need to bring their A game every night. Also hopefully there will be rectification in our line up with our bigs.
C5 has been a big point of contention for quite some time. It was working, very well I might add. But, Huggie exposed its weaknesses. Now Coach has to fix them. And fix them he will.
KU is still posed to have a stellar season this year. I think they will.
@JRyman yep, they screwed the proverbial pooch on this one. Way to go KU.
@DoubleDD The only spot we are slightly vulnerable at is PG. We lose Frank or Devonte' to something and we've got a hole to fill.
Didnt Langford stick with one team for a while? Im sure that was an outlier.
@jaybate-1.0 That is effing funny as hell! Im actually watching X-files reruns right now!!
Rofl @ Olivia Wilde has a sex change. :laughing:
@HighEliteMajor You make great points, a very solid post and logic about why KU should tighten its rotation up. Im not refuting any of your points or your logics at all. I just have one question that I dont believe you addressed in your post. That is, Who should be left out of the C5 rotation?
If Coach Self picks Lucas to sit, we are too light down low. If Self picks 'Mari to sit, we are down on the intangibles he brings, and defense. If Self picks Mick, we are down on added outside shooting, pick n roll defense and shot blocking length. There is no right answer here and any choice but keeping C5 together unto the breach could have just as much negative impact as positive.
I mean, unless Bragg and Diallo gain 20lbs each and make a huge jump in progress, which isnt going to happen this season, we have to keep going with what is working. C5 is giving us a nightly double double in production. Cant refute that. C5 is causing opposing coaches to have to game plan for 5 guys at one spot instead of one.
I have zero in game experience and zero coaching experience but I would think that it would be harder to game plan for 5 different guys. Am I right? Ok technically thats two questions now...
C5 is not Joel Embiid but they are getting the job done. KU is the best team in the country right now. Barring unforeseen circumstances, they will be the best team in March too. C5 does have the added advantage of giving our bigs a break, less risk for injury and all that.
I like @jaybate-1.0 's idea. Dont really have one of my own. How about a 3-D image of Wilt on the court? Maybe Coach Self could use him in the rotation. HA!
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah, me too. Unfortunately Hawaii is a lot further and a lot more expensive than a 6 hour train ride for me. ;)
@BeddieKU23 Thats what I thought when I read that. I thought to my self, " really dude, your gonna complain about that?" Better focus on the game cuz I know KU will come ready to play a big boy game.
In all honesty, I will not be surprised if KU loses in a tight game tomorrow. But, flip a coin and I wouldnt be surprised if they win a tight one too.
I vaguely remember hearing that KU will be playing Duke, I think, at Madison Square Garden in November. Anyone out there than can verify that for me? I cant find it...yet.
If this is true, who wants to meet me there!? Im totally serious. I'll bring a sign that says AFH East!
@jayballer54 Eff Calipari. That is all.
@drgnslayr Well any ban of the NCAA's for Kentucky THIS season would be superfluous really, because they'll be lucky to make the NIT!!! LMAO!
@jaybate-1.0 Its kind of funny because even though KU shot 40% from trey at TxTech, it was still below their average. Thats bonkers! C5 still got a double double. Barely but they did.
WVU seems to turn the ball over more than KU does too this year and TOs are a strength of our best backcourt since the 08 team. I agree. KU can win this game. But, I think we have to spot them 5 points for being at their place.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh yah, I have two keys. Im good.
@jayballer54 W is a W. I'll take it. WVU wont be easy on tuesday. In fact Itll be harder. Toss a coin and pick either KU or WVU and you might be right.
@drgnslayr Dude, if we make it that far, to the final game, KU will win it WUG style this year. I mean it. We get that far, its ours. Then I'll need to hitchhike back to Lawrence from VT!
@jaybate-1.0 So, you are saying Diallo will be back next season? I love pop tarts. Strawberry is my favorite. Maaaan, back in the day I used to live on those things! And Dave Matthews, but I digress.
Svi had a great game last night in the minutes he played. Solid defense, smart offense, moral breaking 3's at crucial times. Even though Svi's trey is 33%, I see it rising.
@Crimsonorblue22 Duke's defense is suspect this year...only ranked 50ish by Kenpom. UNC is the same way. And Kentucky, well we all know whats going to happen to them. CoughNITCough!!
“Get what you neeeed”
Brandon showing his personality in this article. Its really cool. I can imagine that Brandon does his fair share of cracking everyone up in the locker room too. I mean, do ya'll remember the story about Coach Self asking why Brandon was late to practice some day? I think he said something to the effect of ," The club was crakin last night Coach!" I dont know if I have a favorite Jayhawk in the NBA but B.Rush is definitely top of the list.
