@globaljaybird Half time?
@globaljaybird im thinkin KU needs to put on shoulder pads and start hittin some fools
@Crimsonorblue22 Nice link!
@VailHawk Funny! Thats what I was thinkin.
@VailHawk Your on sucka!
@VailHawk I predict against your prediction. Hunter may not start by mid season but he gets starters minutes.
Anyways, Whats the score ya'll?? I am ESPNU-less
@Barney pretty sure that thought never crossed my mind. Actually I think Traylor needs to come off the bench this year, 3rd or 4th big.
Always liked Selden, always wanted to see him turn beast mode.
@BeddieKU23 Wayne and Frank are our Alpha dogs this year. We need that in such a bad way. KU has not had a team or a player with that mentality since the '12 FF team. An argument could be made for the '08 team as well. It has been a loooong time since we had a killer instinct team that can lock down an opponent, step on their throats and not let up all game.
KU has the potential to do that very thing this season and I am Psyched!!
@drgnslayr Nice compare/contrast!
@RockChalkinTexas Oh yah, and we are gonna lay the smack down on Lithuania tonight.
@Statmachine Shark week and KU basketball in July! Its like Christmas!!

Also maybe a motor isn't enough but when a player walks away twice with the MVP playing against the best upcoming talent in the world should count for something. One time could be a fluke but twice and I believe three? No I'll take the motor of Diallo. Trob and KYoung could only dream of having the talent Diallo has. Just my thoughts.
My thoughts are " I cant freekin wait to see Diallo lace 'em up for KU!! DD is right, the kid can just play and proves it by getting MVP in two tournaments against the best talent coming to Div 1! There is always a learning curve with any freshmen. We saw it with Wigs and with Biid but they improved enough during the year to get picked 1 & 3 respectively.
Why wouldn't Diallo be able to be a top 5 pick in '16 AND have a killer season helping KU to the Final Four?
@RockChalkinTexas Come on guys! Lets win a medal!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Ahhhh yah good point.
@Crimsonorblue22 Is that photo in Sacramento or St Louis?
@wrwlumpy Omg, I had no idea some of those guys were from there! How cool!
@wrwlumpy They'd be crazy not to! Thats awesome!
@HighEliteMajor Remember, Self has a penchant for giving his upperclass men the start at the beginning of the season and letting his OAD/TAD players work their way into starting. I would assume it will be the same with Diallo. Hunter gets the start at first, till Diallo "gets it"
Of course, this is all of it, just pure speculation. But, besides Wiggs and Selden a couple years ago, he really doesn't let his freshmen get out from the toughening box very often.
@jaybate-1.0 Are the lanes still going to be the same size in Div 1 or did they widen them? Wouldn't the faster shot clock help in that regard as well?

@Crimsonorblue22 he's going to start until diallo is ready,and get major minutes this year, imo...
My thoughts exactly! Mickelson, then Diallo, then Lucas
Perry, then Bragg, then Traylor.
@ralster Im going to keep saying we will break 30 wins this season because I truly believe that will happen. No reason it shouldn't!
@elpoyo But yah, the experience we are getting with the faster clock, etc is priceless as far as next fall goes. We will be very far ahead of the game and with that much of a head start And our balance with experience and talent, KU is going to be a very very tough team to beat this season. I cant wait. Im especially excited about UK vs KU AT AFH! Mega revenge game.
@elpoyo I know! I was totally bummed just now and saw the game isnt even on replay at Espn.
I wanted to watch the game.
@JayHawkFanToo true dat. There are still some unknowns regarding our Bigs for next season. Ive got a good feeling though, especially if Mickelson can keep it up and Bragg and Diallo develop and contribute faster than we expect them to.
@HighEliteMajor Since we are speculating early on starters and bench next fall. I have my own thoughts on the topic.
Our front court is LOADED.
Mickelson SHOULD start at the 5 now. backed up by Diallo then Lucas.
Perry WILL start at the 4, backed up by Bragg then Traylor.
Wayne WILL start at the 3, backed up by BG.
Mason and Devonte will round out our to starting guards, backed up by SVI and Vick.
KU is going to be dangerous in the fall! I also think that KU will beat the tar out of UK when they come to AFH! Total Revenge game!
@HighEliteMajor SOlid post! Fully agree. and to add to it, this coming season, KU is going to be very deadly.
@jaybate-1.0 Coach Self giving Hunter some major props after the Serbia game. Has to be a hint about Hunt's minutes and performance for the next season if he keeps it up.
It seems as though we have our Senior 5 man AND we have our stud 3 man in Selden. Diallo backs up Mickelson to start the season and BG backs up Selden at the 3.
Perry and Bragg spell eachother. Devonte, Mason, Svi and Vick form our killer back court.
This team can run and gun or grind it out with anyone in Div 1 if they bring home Gold.
@jaybate-1.0 I just finished watching the replay on the espn site. That was a tough tough game where our guys couldnt hit the broadside of a barn most the night. Wayne came up huge, Mickelson came up huge. All of them are playing so worn out from the back to backs. I thought we might have a chance to lose that game but we didnt!
Im going to say it right now. This fall, KU is going to be one of the hardest teams to beat with all this added experience.
UK is gonna get the tar beat outta them at AFH.
@HighEliteMajor Landon Lucas - 14 boards. Coach Self must have ripped his hiney for being "SOFT
If Hunters minutes and results continue, its gonna mean a couple things. 1. Hunter's leash is off and 2. One of our returning bigs will see a decrease in minutes this fall.
Carlton is a tough kid. Once that mask comes off, he's going to be a stud.
Ellis, 9 points on a bum ankle. Meh.
Traylor, think we've beaten that dead horse to death multiple times. But watch, He will have a killer game against Serbia.
Vick will get minutes this fall.
Mason is a machine. How long can he keep it up?
@jaybate-1.0 Maaaaan, I dont know about that one. You mean to say not even Chile'?
Id bet sharp odds on that game for sure.
@jaybate-1.0 :laughing: :rolling!
@drgnslayr Watch, Jamari will have a great game against Serbia.
Im not going to bet on it but wouldnt that just figure?
@ralster Yah, its great! It would be wonderful to see KU take the Gold home this year!
@approxinfinity Very interesting indeed. Id sure like to get @jaybate-1.0 to postulate on this one.
@HighEliteMajor MIght Coach Self be letting Mickelson's leash out a lot more and tightening Traylor's in? I hope so. We'll see what happens later with Serbia.
I mean, thats a huge difference right there.
@ralster This season in the fall, shorter shot clock, more possessions and more seasoned players to handle. Maybe Bill will see what he is doing right now and apply that same concept as you say, win by attrition. He has got the roster to do it. It wont be a platoon deal like UK was last season. But instead of a 7-8 man rotation, Coach can use 9- 10 easy. The possibilities are supremely exciting!
@ralster Bragg may surpass BRD's production on his own once he gets the mask off. Im fairly certain Diallo can too. Two of them combined? Id put big money on it.
@bskeet Nevermind, its not. I just checked. Oh well.
@bskeet It might be on ESPN replay after its over...
@drgnslayr Only a matter of When coach K steps down. Guy isn't getting any younger. Id love to see Coach Self representing USA international ball!
@jaybate-1.0 Ohhhhhh man! I wish Karl Malone was still able to play. Id give my left you know where to see The Mailman beat up on Lebron. I think you are right, The King would be waving the white flag after one quarters worth of bruises he'd get from big man Malone. :collision: :boom: :rage1:
@jaybate-1.0 That was great! A basketball 101 lesson and Jaybate basketball prose with compare/contrast against two NBA greats and our boys in Crimson and Blue. Right on man, thanks! Every little bit helps me understand the game all the better.
@KUSTEVE Seriously. this '15 squad might not be as hard as the '08 team yet but there is that similar blend of experience and talent that makes me say "Giggety!"
@jaybate-1.0 I still consider myself a novice in terms of reading what is going on during the game on both ends. But, I swear I have seen pick and roll / Pick and Pop sets coming from KUSA. Hunter can hit the mid range, so can Bragg and Perry. Am I seeing things right?
@SoftballDad2011 " Here's the signal for the next play Wayne "
@jaybate-1.0 No doubt! If Hunter keeps this up during the WUG's Self has to realize sooner or later that he gives us a better +/- scoring advantage on both ends.
Rock the freekin Chalk!
@HighEliteMajor On the other hand, Mickelson has impressed me. He is no Aldrich or Withey or Embiid by any means but last night he had 8 boards, a couple good put backs, soft touch around the rim for 11 points. I swear I thought he had a block or 2 but the box score didnt show it.
@Jayrawks1 Its on Espn replay right now.
@brooksmd Big 10, Big 12, UK at home. We'll be ready and ahead of most every other team in terms of experience and practice with the new rules.
GOnna be a fun season. I already like the game better. Faster, more possessions, more points, except for the Turkey game. Yah, I know, its Fiba rules but the similar rule changes to NCAA will be good for the game I think.
@KUSTEVE Agreed on all points! Hunter was solid for us today. He can hit the mid range jumper, block, rebound, steal, blockout and pass. All hustle. I was impressed.
Jamari = Tyshawn so far
Frank = Sherron Collins. Period. Ive been saying it since last season.
Wayne's World! Party on!
I think Perry will be fine. We were up late, Self kept him out just to be cautious. I saw him walk off the court without a limp after the game was over.
Vick! Kid was a stud today. Good to see things clicking early for him.
