Thats exactly how I feel. Screw them up the place the sun dont shine!! But, I hope they hit the NCAAs undefeated and get beat in the first round by a hot handed killer B team.

@drgnslayr Seriously, Ice water, the kid is a stud. Just wait til we get Devonte back too. Hope he can return in decent time and in good form. If that happens KU shouldnt look back.
@VailHawk HA! Fizzou is 6-7! LMAO!
@JhawkAlum Baylor IS hungry for its first win but we are talking about Scott Drew vs Coach Self. My $$ is on, what does @jaybate-1.0 @jaybate-2.0 call him? Magister Ludi? Haha! Anyway, yah I like KU's chances in this one if they can keep it close the first 10-15 min.
@drgnslayr Despite what Kenpom says, I still think KU can at least share the conference this year. Your points # 1 and 2 are great points for arguing against KU winning #11. My thoughts about why we Should win the conference for the 11th time in a row are thusly. We all know that conference play just ramps up the competition between the teams. Each team plays harder, tougher. This includes KU. So far KU has the hardest schedule of the bunch and has come out of it 11-2. Did Kenpom predict that? I dont know. What I do think is if Kenpom is right, we are supposed to lose to 8 of 9 teams on the road, or 7 of 9 and lose one at home. What ever the math is. So lets think, which teams will sweep KU this year? OU has a chance, Texas has a chance but Ive got Coach Self over Barnes all day long. Iowa St has a chance, West Virginia has a chance. Thats 4 just with a chance of sweeping KU. There are 5 more teams to go. DO we really think that TCU, Baylor, Kstate, Okiestate and Texas Tech have a chance at beating us at home this year? I dont. Texas has already shown its vulnerability by getting thrashed by OU at their place. Maybe we split with Texas, Iowa state has a great team again but I think they match up with KU very well. KU can at least split with them. Thats two losses so far. Baylor? Come on guys its Scott Drew against Coach Self. I agree Baylor is pretty good this year but no way they sweep us. So thats 3 losses for KU potentially. Okie state usually has our number at their place. Not this year they dont. West Virginia is doing things they havent done under Huggie bear. They are a threat for sure, but will they sweep us? Maybe. But then maybe they get beat by another team we sweep and its 5 losses for us. Or we split with WVU because AFH is KU territory. There is a reason why it is one of THE hardest places to win at. So, by my count, and Im purely speculating, KU has 4 maybe 5 conference losses heading into the tourney season, not 8. There is a great possibility that the other top 4 programs will have just as many losses. The Big 12 is the toughest its ever been, there are bound to be surprise wins and losses by every team. I think right now, OU is the biggest threat to beat us for the conference title. BUT, going head to head at AFH, Im giving the edge to Coach Self. Lets hope I am right. If I am not, then who ever wins the conference will absolutely deserve it. Sure it will hurt not keeping the streak alive but thats college ball in the Big 12. I still think KU can at least share the title and come out 14-4. Kenpom is all analytical and statistical but what has happened the last 10 years?
KU has outright won it 5 times and Kansas (11-2) has shared the crown in five of those seasons. So far, I dont think it will end up any differently.
Here is an interesting question. Is it possible this year for a 3 way tie?
@jaybate-1.0 ;)
@jaybate-1.0 Im still hung up on who has "joint-patents on key parts of the Olivia Wilde genome." And, what their contact info is.
@jaybate-1.0 good stuff dude! @Jesse-Newell You too!
@wrwlumpy No Doubt! We cannot take any and i mean ANY game for granted this season. The conference is even tougher than it was last year. There are no guarantees this time. Its win or go home each game.
@jaybate-1.0 F@#$ yah dude! I know earlier I had said KU was going to lose this game because Coach Self would not be able to give up his bread and butter hi lo, inside out game. But he did and did not all at the same time.
Someone please tell me how many different things they ran offensively in that game and say that it was only the beginning. He has more wrinkles on offense and defense coming that he has not unleashed yet.
KU played great last night. Mason is an all out stud. I keep comparing him to Sherron. The rest of the team played very well also. I was actually surprised!
Did you all see Selden's hustle? Did you all see Traylor's nasty coast to coast for a dunk?
I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw that. Just sick!
Way to to KU! Keep it going. The next 18 games will be just as hard. Kenpom be dammed and his 10-8 prediction.
@jaybate-1.0 Oh man. That right there is a gorgeous gorgeous woman.
@HighEliteMajor Yeah I thought the 19 threes was very telling and I hope hope it continues. All of our perimeter players are capable trey shooters. Im a huge Mason fan, kid is like Sherron Collins light. A bulldog.
Apparently Greene didnt play much because he has the injury bug. Unknown why Svi didnt play much. But it is that time of year when Coach whittles down his rotation to his best guys.
Sick sick moments when, Traylor went coast to coast for the slam! Then another time on a hustle and assist. Then of course Mason getting the ball where ever he wanted. I liked our ball handling this game and our intensity. I just hope they keep it up cuz our boys will need it against every single team this year. Even TCU and TexasTech.
Fun game & Good win for our boys! Rock Chalk!
Major effort points to basically our whole starting 5..
Anyone find it odd that CS played 7 guys, major minutes tonight?
@HighEliteMajor It appears KU is doing just as you mentioned. Flashing across the lane, sliding, cutting, screening. More movement over all. At least it seems so to my untrained eye.
I LOVE TRAYLOR GOING COAST TO COAST! That was BAD@$$!!
@Lulufulu Alright, call me negative, a pessimist, whatever. I was wrong. Way to go KU.
Lets hope they can keep this up thru march.
@wrwlumpy Yeah, 10 and 8 for KU? That seems a bit too harsh, even for our guys. I just watched the replay of OU and Baylor. Both teams good but didnt strike me as good enough to sweep KU in their series. ANd, both of those teams project into the top half of the conference. I dont buy 10 and 8. Nope. Maybe 13-5 or 14-4.
@HighEliteMajor Talk is talk, but can he walk the walk? Cliff hasnt proven he can shoot further out than 5 feet. Perry has been bench worthy the last 2 games. Same goes with our other bigs. We all know UNLV has a couple near footers that are long and athletic. KU surely needs to try something different against this team if they want to win. Just the normal hi lo, inside out game wont work anymore. Perry cant shoot, Cliff is good but inconsistently so.
KU's strength so far? Well, the most obvious to me anyways. They are shooting 39% from three point land and leading the Big 12 in this stat!
@drgnslayr hate to be a pessimist but Im thinking the latter. Coach Self just has this maddening trait to stick with the status quo. That being run the hi-lo inside out game and stick with your 7-8 man rotations. I dont see him being able to let go of that. As a result KU might not be at its potential best come March. Now, conversely, if Self surprises us and lets a few of those wrinkles go? Maybe gives his bench some work and stuff? Who knows, they might win the league and be a legit contender.
“They are a good team. They beat Arizona,” Ellis stated, as taken from KU Sports.
That team just lost to Wyoming in their first conference game. They have a starting 5 that will give us match up problems on the perimeter and inside. Personally, I am not envisioning a KU win here. Especially if KU comes out expecting to do that. UNLV will hit first and how our boys respond after the first 5-10 minutes will dictate the outcome of the game.
Coach Self on our trap game last year, “Last year maybe I didn't handle it very well. The results weren't very good (against S.D. State). We’re going to approach this as a game we’re going to hopefully have the same energy as what we've had going in conference play,” Self added.
Will Coach Self introduce some new things into his offense that he has kept under wraps so far? It seems to me that I have heard people speak of this on here or there at some point in time. Specifically about how Coach will keep certain things covered until the conference season so our enemys cant prepare for our full board of offensive schemes. His talk about needing to amp up the energy level in this game is a tell, for me. Does he give our guys a pre game amp up speech? I hope so. Does he release some new plays for this game to give us the best chance at winning? I freeking really hope so!! Case and point, KU is shooting a Conference High 39% from trey. Since when has that happened? Granted they are only taking about 15 attempts per game but they NEED to make that number 20-25 if they are going to win today.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
@MoonwalkMafia great post dude. Spot on too. That continuity of strength and swagger found in past KU teams has been filtered out by the OAD era. KU lost that battle to UK, Duke, Arizona. You are doubly right about the 07-08 team. They were a veritable wolf pack. With the recruiting losses and the coaching changes we've seen at KU, it does not appear to be likely to see that "swagger" return in the near future. It sucks.
@BeddieKU23 Man, personally, it would be a relief to see KU land a top recruit. I really hope he picks KU. On the other hand it was my impression that any big that KU was in the market for may pick KU based on Cliff's decision to declare for the draft. Right now, that doesnt seem likely to me. He isnt playing like a lottery pick. So, he may very well be back next season. I suppose we could use another good lottery type player in the post. That would mean one of our bench guys will be pushed out. Mickelson, Lucas, Traylor.
@jaybate-1.0 Ok so I posted my last question without first reading your lengthy "hypothesizing" which was very interesting by the way. Leading me to ask some questions about said topic.
Coaches in the L. How are they contracted? They aren't the athletes out there wearing the flashy brand name shoes for marketing purposes.
The Asymmetries of talent distribution in the L and Div1; Might you elaborate on your theory of that? Let me take a poke at it first though. Since Kentucky is probly a Nike school, the AAU teams funded by Nike $ funnel their players towards that school and vice versa for Adidas schools like KU. I imagine if there are NBA teams that are Nike & Adidas then they might draft players as such also?
@JayHawkFanToo Wow, thats very interesting. Adidas is the uniform for the NBA?? Seriously, what does that mean as far as Adidas' pull on the market...regarding @jaybate-1.0 and his conspiracy theory of the ShoeCos?
@wissoxfan83 If downvoting is legal now, maybe we should pass legislation to allow up voting ones own posts? ;)
@JhawkAlum Maybe Coach is getting tired of the uphill battle that is recruiting against Nike schools?
I still dont know how to down vote. lol. oh well, not like Id do it anyways unless some tosser from Kentucky or Missou decided to be a troll on here
@BeddieKU23 You got that right. I just saw this on yahoo. Rudy gay < Andrew Wiggins
@Crimsonorblue22 Did Ben and Wigs guard eachother during the game?
@wissoxfan83 Kirk was out cuz he was injured. Ankle or something, not sure.
@JhawkAlum Well until we hear the news that Self is bailing for the League. Im not going to stop thinking he loves it here at KU.
@wissoxfan83 i dunno how to do that.
@Crimsonorblue22 ahhh, cant find it.
@jaybate-1.0 Thanks!
@Crimsonorblue22 cool
@Crimsonorblue22 I was tryin to find that vine of Cousins and Smart. Got a link? I wanna see that!!
@brooksmd said:
Yep, Wigs eye level with the rim on that one. Dudes got major hops. With Randle and Parker out with injuries, R.O.Y. is Wigs to lose.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yah, normally it does. Mason drives and kicks it out to the open wing for the trey. But, they arent doing that enough. At least that seems to be the general consensus on here. One I agree with.
@jaybate-1.0 Fascinating theory. Self taking pages from Phog's book. Being so utterly unfamiliar with Phog's book I'll just take your word for it. Btw, does Phog have a book defining his theories?
@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn Great post, Same sentiments to you as well!
My big question of the moment is why is Coach Self unable to let go of trying to make this team into the 08 team? Its not gonna happen. We dont have the roster to play inside out every freeking possession. Kelly SHOULD have gotten 42 last night, broke Wigs single game scoring record.
@jaybate-1.0 We do have more than one 40% trey gunner. Our coach just hasnt let them do it with enough frequency.
Final thought, right now I dont see this KU team making it out of the first round.
oh yah, final final thought. UNLV beat Arizona AT their place. They can certainly beat KU on Sunday.
@drgnslayr Yeah, Im not sold on Oubre being OAD either.
It is most likely that I have missed the announcement. But, who is the new guy on the coaches bench? The new one with the clean shaven head? Like I said, Im clueless who this guy is.
@HighEliteMajor Question. Is the reason Ellis was a complete no show the last game and half a show the game prior due to Cliff not getting his minutes? Im probly being too hard on the guy but Ive completely lost faith in Ellis. He is not PF in college and he is not an NBA 3. He is a tweener. He hurt our team the last two games. Unfortunately we dont have a replacement for him that is suitable.
@jaybate-1.0 Dude, seriously I thought KU was going to have 6-8 losses before the season started. I hope Im wrong. I also hope Graham comes back sooner than we expect him to.
@jaybate-1.0 Oubre has lightning quick hands too. He pokes that ball out from behind or in front of his man bout as fast as Chalmers used to but add I dont know. 5 - 6 inches of length?
@drgnslayr Yeah, to put it succinctly, she is a bad@$$. I hope she never bails for the League.
@bskeet yeah, I kinda like it. Better than a purple theme! Ha!
@JayHawkFanToo Yeah but Louisville is playing them much tighter. Its a 4 pt game at the half.
I also noticed more shot fakes from the Cards. Why doesn't KU use the shot fake more often?
Normally in this situation, watching another game Not KU, I wouldnt much care of the outcome. But this time? Oh yah, I want Louisville to win. Its a close game so far. Havent seen Ashley Judd yet but Jennifer Lawrence is in the crowd wearing all red. Mmmmmmm, J-law.
