@bskeet HA! Thats funny

The Case of the Missing Trey Shooters • Nov 21, 2014 09:43 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Dude, when I read the title of your college ball caper I thought you were going old school, like with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or Wilkie Collins. Its cool though, Perry Mason is the man. Can't wait to read whats next! Where have our trey shooters gone? Last one I remember had any impact at all was Ben and Releford.

@Kong There is a butt, and its on Calipari's face! HA!
Ok, that was my first and last childish out burst...for the day.

@nuleafjhawk I actually respect Coach K very very much. I really dont have a problem with Duke basketball. Coach K seems to have a higher moral standard than Calipari. Coach K holds himself with an air of respect and dignity that Calipari would never be able to emulate.
I respect UNC as a university and a basketball program, current scandal not withstanding.
I respect UCONN, I was happy when they won it all last year.
I don't particularly care for Peyton Manning but again, he seems to be a stand up guy.
Calipari is a leech upon the face of College Basketball and he should be banned from coaching the game. Dr. Naismith is probably rolling over in his grave right now in disgust.

@drgnslayr Hey thanks for validating my feelings. Good post. Very harsh analogy but I think it is also a valid one.

Is The Roster Apocalypse Upon Us? • Nov 21, 2014 02:54 PM

@HighEliteMajor Ditto what Jaybate said about this being a very good post. Very thought provoking too, and not in a good way. All of it is scary, and could potentially come to fruition. Selden leaving? I think he might if he were to play his way into the top 10 this season. Oubre? Maybe he goes too if he turns it on. Rush would have gone early. He even said as much. I see Oubre being a lesser talent thus far than Rush was. But, its possible he declares if he, like Selden, plays his way to a good draft spot. This kid actually needs the money to support his fam. Kind of like Ben did. Ben didnt want to go but he did so he could help his fam. Now he's a starter on the Kings roster, who arent that bad this year so far.
The thing with the Bigs recruiting scares me. Some part of me wonders if it is somehow quantifiable how much we lost in recruiting edge when Manning left.
I think it could be substantial. Of Course coach Self is known for prepping future NBA bigs. But, the majority of that work came with Manning on staff. Are we losing our Big Man U label?

I dont know fellas, all this stuff is scary to contemplate. I try not to..

What ever. Regardless of what happens, I love KU and I love college basketball. Thats not going to change, like, ever.

The Debrief, After The Beatdown • Nov 20, 2014 10:06 PM

@HighEliteMajor Well said.

I'm speculating that they won't have a super melt down this year. Like... Kentucky goes under NCAA investigation... or a plane crash... or Ebola hits the campus of Kentucky. But otherwise... they can afford to lose a couple of guys to injury and they can mend over it and still dominate.

Am I wrong to hope for one of those super melt down things to happen to UK? I mean, that would be incredibly awesome!!

Kentucky, much to my chagrin, will not get beat this season. All 10 of their platoon players will get drafted in '15.
Sure, there might be a team that would challenge Kentucky in March. Duke and Wisconsin come to mind. But challenge is different from beat. No team in Div I can beat them, or will beat them this season.
Calipari has an extremely unfair advantage, one that cannot be legal. There has to be something illegal about how he is going about his business. Has. To. Be.
The guy is a snake, a snake with a history of questionable morals and ethics. Why does everyone just assume he will play it straight right now? Especially considering his history at UMASS and Memphis.

Catching games online. • Nov 18, 2014 11:48 PM

@MoonwalkMafia interesting. I'll check that out, thanks!

Catching games online. • Nov 18, 2014 11:47 PM

@JRyman Im going to hang on to my cable until I know I have a viable option. I really dont want to miss any games at all! Thanks for the words of wisdom.

KU vs UCSB • Nov 18, 2014 11:45 PM

ROck Chalk you guys! Lets get a big Win tonight!

@jaybate-1.0 I vote yes, but with a caveat. He has an unfair advantage somewhere and/or he is playing the system illegally. Cant wait to see Kensucky get stung by a scandal like UNC did. Which Im not happy about Btw.

@HighEliteMajor Here's another thing. Kentucky is getting tested by Buffalo right now. They only get one day to prep for KU before tuesday. Not to mention rest. KU could very well have the advantage in endurance and leg strength in this game tuesday.

Catching games online. • Nov 15, 2014 02:16 PM

Hey KU Fans. I am considering cutting some expenses. Cable is stupid expensive here and I was wondering if anyone knows a good way of catching all the KU games online. I have a subscription to espn.go and watched the KU game online last night since it was not on the tv channels where I am. Is there a way for me to be sure of catching all the games? Or at least most of them?

Expert Predictions? • Nov 15, 2014 02:10 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I knew there was a connection there. It wont pan out that way, it rarely does. Except in 08 with all #1 seeds

Thought provoking sports pics/screenshots • Nov 14, 2014 07:30 PM

@VailHawk Let's see who the purple kitties are playing shall we? Oh, Southern Utah. Consider me unimpressed.

Expert Predictions? • Nov 14, 2014 07:19 PM

@JRyman On said experts. Yah, nearly all of them picked chalk with UK,AZ,Wisconsin and Duke in the final four. I agree that all of those 4 teams will be very good come march. But 9.5 out of 10 times it doesnt work that way. The only guy I really respect on there from a basketball knowledge stand point is Bilas. But, he also picked chalk.

Expert Predictions? • Nov 14, 2014 07:09 PM

@JRyman You know, there has got to be some connection between the "experts" predictions and the Shoe Co's. If said link exists, I am sure Jaybate can find it. nudge

KU vs UCSB • Nov 14, 2014 06:36 PM

@JRyman And that one too! Hilarious!

KU vs UCSB • Nov 14, 2014 06:36 PM

@nuleafjhawk Omg that is so funny! I think I will do that some time!

@globaljaybird I think most of us are on board with that decision! Not that I welcome Coach Self leaving but, Danny coaching KU!? awesome

KU vs UCSB • Nov 14, 2014 04:40 PM

Is it just me or does the off season get longer every year? It has been especially poignant this season for me, simply because I am not in Kansas any more. I am surrounded with new things and to have a taste of something familiar is very welcome indeed. College Basketball. It is what I look forward to most each fall/winter season.
ESPN has a bit on the game today. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to Embiid the link. HA! http://espn.go.com/ncb/preview?gameId=400585668 ↗

Link to ESPN story... ↗

I would like to provide my own commentary on the article.
Basically it starts out with Coach Self comparing this team to the 08 team in terms of depth. Which is a good comparison. However, I think that a comparison to the 07 team is much more believable. Experience is something we still dont have a lot of. Traylor & Ellis are our 2 upperclass men that will see extended minutes from last year. I hope Self uses Mickelson. We need his rim protection and his experience. For all intents, he is a junior, correct? Selden & Greene are our 2 sophs from last year. Selden Should provide some leadership as well as some more offense! I also really hope he stays healthy. No more quilts for Selden!
The article did make one grievous error. Chalmers was indeed a big part of the team but they failed to mention Russ and Sherron! For shame! Those two + Sherron were the best back court that year. This year we have Mason and Devonte'. I am interested to see how those two handle PG duties this year. But by no means are they equal to 08. Again, 07 would be a more apt comparison. I really see Frank as Sherron light. Guy is a stud and fearless on the court. If he can keep his TOs down and his assists up, he will be good.
I really think, over all that KU will be tougher this year. I am thinking 6-8 losses with an elite 8 finish. Then watch out next year!

@drgnslayr Thats awesome you spoke with him. Hopefully he will heed your advice!

@jaybate-1.0 I graduated with my bachelors degree 8 years ago. Absolutely no way do I get that degree without papers and tests and attendance. But then again I didn't major in communications or any American Studies major.

@JayhawkRock78 LOL! My thoughts exactly

@HighEliteMajor We dont see eye to eye on a lot of things man. But, Im on your frequency here. Rock Chalk!

@JRyman You know what. I thought about that. Sure, UK is uber talented this year with all they returned and added. I am sure Larry was praising them for being so talented. But, could it also be possible that he was putting some extra pressure on Calipari and possibly taking some off of Coach Self?

@KUSTEVE I was not aware of any ill feelings towards Pastner. I mean sure he worked for one of the biggest pariahs in college ball but still. Make no mistake though, I don't want to deprive anyone of their bit of Schadenfreude.

@REHawk I was just saying he could go "big" with Perry at the 3 but I guess technically Oubre and Svi are just as tall and possibly longer.

@REHawk I have Comcast up here in VT. I spoke with them about FullCourt but they dont offer it. Can I get it any other way?

@konkeyDong Was that english?

@jaybate-1.0 I am planning on learning how to ski and snowboard here but when KU basketball is on, that's all I will be concerned with ;)

@jaybate-1.0 Conversely do you think he would slide Ellis down to the 3 and use a combo of our other bigs at 4 & 5? Especially against bigger teams like UK

Ok so maybe not quite the same KU basketball. But it is basketball nonetheless. I am living in Vermont now and adjusting to being so far away from KU is not too bad but its different. The games are an hour later here which means I have to stay up later watching games. Since Im not local, it seems as though I might miss a couple non con. games due to ESPN not covering some of those games. Fridays game is one of those.
Anyway, I dont know about you guys but I remain hopeful that KU will be much tougher on D than they were last season. Sure, we dont have the rim protectors we are used to over the past what, 6 years? We didnt have that blocking presence in 08. Traylor, Alexander, Lucas and Mickelson will all be fighting hard for KU down low.
I liked how Mason, Devonte' and Selden handled the ball last night. I hope they can keep it up. I liked how they plus Greene shot the ball too. Hope thats a trend as well. Svi couldnt buy a shot last night but when he lights up, look out. That is assuming of course he breaks into the rotation with enough minutes to get into a flow.

@jaybate-1.0 Man, I hate to see Roy put on the hotseat like this. Even if he did have prior knowledge of this stuff happening at UNC, they could forfeit their wins and title from 05. Bummer. Id rather it be Kentucky. Still waiting for Calimari to blow it somehow. We can only hope.

KU vs. Emporia St - Svi To Start • Nov 12, 2014 02:52 PM

@jaybate-1.0 HA! Thats great stuff. Mr Appearance you are here by sentenced to a hereby unspecified amount of ass chewing in practice without parole!

KU Buckets T-Shirts • Oct 24, 2014 06:56 PM

@JayhawkRock78 T-Shirts!

KU Buckets T-Shirts • Oct 24, 2014 06:51 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Dude, I follow Ms Wilde on twitter. That idea is kind of funny. I hope you dont mind if I tweet that to her! LOL

KU Buckets T-Shirts • Oct 24, 2014 06:48 PM

I love T Shirts. Especially KU T shirts. I have at least a dozen of them. I'd get another. What do they look like?

@Crimsonorblue22 Think about that line up for a second! Mason, Selden, Oubre, Traylor & Alexander, with Conner as 6th man. Thats just sick. From what I have read and heard so far those guys are going to be hard core this year. They better be with 2 weeks boot camp mixed in with Marine Corps boot camp stuff. Defense and Offense like a freekin Wolf Pack. Like the 07 and 08 teams were. KU's returners are hungry to prove themselves and our freshmen have caught the bug too. They are hungry and will be hard to stop. I think they will absolutely improve from last years 10 loss season. Win loss count? I dont know. But I think they get to the elite 8 at least.

LATE NIGHT IS HERE!!!! • Oct 11, 2014 02:26 AM

ESPN3 just cut off the KU scrimage right after it started!!!!! I am so pissed right now.

The Possibility of Basketball • Sep 30, 2014 10:05 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I bet Dr. James Naismith would be whistling a happy tune in his grave to hear you say that Jaybate. I really hope its true. Basketball IS the greatest sport and it also seems to be able to bring together many different nations without violence or hatred that you see in soccer.

Bill Stirs the PG pot.... • Sep 30, 2014 09:59 PM

Ahhhhhhhh!!! I just want the season to start already!!! Gosh darn darn!
