Ive actually seen a couple jayhawks out here. We are legion! I might actually be in Kansas for some KU games this fall. I don't miss much about Kansas but KU ball is at the top of the list!!

I think that's an excellent question. We are Kansas after all. Bluest of the blue bloods. High elite major, right up there with UNC and UK and Duke. We should be landing more top recruits and not stuck scraping the bottom of the barrel season to season.
Surely this topic could be addressed in such a way as to not seem threatening to either of those guys. Its a very real question. Questions have answers. This particular one has an answer which isn't being made public for some reason or another.

@dylans Not over seas it isn't. SMU recruit Mudiay...didn't he go play pro ball in China or something when he didn't qualify for SMU? I swear it was something like that.
Anyways, I could see more elite level players doing that...opting to play pro ball over seas for a year or two rather than go to college.

I really liked it when Coach Self said last year that "Josh Jackson unpacked his bags." Josh is absolutely my favorite OAD of the Self era. That kid unpacked his bags and basically went about his life like he was going to be at KU for 4 years. Josh dug in and learned all he could from Coach Self and the rest and we could see it progress as the season went on! He came to KU as a super stud with Wiggins comparisons and IMO left KU even better than Wiggins did at the same stage.
Will Preston "unpack his bags?" I'm thinking he will but I cant honestly expect him to be like Josh. I'm hoping for just really dammed good from this kid at this point.

Coach Self wants them all molded and coached up ( the new ones anyways ) before conference season. Whoever fits the system best gets the minutes when the conference rolls around as per usual. I have no idea what to expect myself from the new guys. DG and Vick and Svi will all be taking major steps up in terms of their abilities. At least, I think they will. Newman sounds scary good to me right now. The other two I know even less about. All this makes me excited for Italy. I hope they televise the games or stream them online somewhere.

Warriors just dominated the Cavs last night. Domination is an understatement. It felt like KU was playing a preseason exhibition game in AFH!
Chances are that the Cavs will make game 2 a wee bit more competitive. But the likelihood that they win that game isn't very high.

@Kcmatt7 I'm not sure how I feel about this. Isnt the champions classic still happening this year and into '19 or some year?

This could be a precursor for all the Nike, Jordan teams to have their own season end tourney and bail from the NCAAs completely.

I dunno. Maybe it'll be a big draw. Maybe the next time KU gets in next year? Maybe it'll fall short of expectations and be OAD.

@JhwkrRedLegs Actually not a bad idea. I'm not a football fan by any means but I'm actually intrigued by KC Chiefs in what they did this off season in the draft. I might actually follow them a bit more closely. doubt I'll watch any games unless Mahomes appears to be the second coming of Brett Farve.

us are about DG staying "One more year!" But how will he lead KU without Frank? We really cant expect him to duplicate Frank's NPOY season. But we certainly can expect him to aim for it.

For me, it definitely means more to me to see guys stay longer, graduate even, than it does if they just stay one year, or one semester. But guys like Joel who are once in a generation type talents, it makes me proud to know they wore crimson and blue, if only for one year.

Ahead of the Warriors v Cavs NBA finals games I was thinking about what Ive read about how this is bad for the league. 3 times in a row for these two teams does seem to set a new precedent in pro basketball but [This link here] says that the Celtics and Lakers have met 12 times in the finals! 12! So while they haven't met 3 times in a row like what we have today, they have far exceeded the total number of the Cavs Warriors rivalry. This is not a new thing. I think he starts 3 guards and 2 bigs, then when offense or fouls or matchups dictate, then he swings out his "KU death line up"

I'm not sure you can label Coach Self as any type of shady. Does he know the rules? yes. Is he extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the game and coaching as a whole? Yep. Would he have the intelligence to see loopholes in the rules and be able to operate in between those spaces without getting dinged for something major? Yah, probly. But maybe his success is due to him being extremely good at what he does and Omg, honest about how he operates his system at KU?
If he was willing to operate under the table and get the best of the best recruits, don't you think he might have landed more of them in his tenure at KU? I mean compared to UK and Duke and now UCLA and other schools shockingly landing big time top 10 recruits at a Washington or an LSU or even gasp MU!?!? Really!? I mean MU has a higher ranked class coming in than KU does right now. Let that sink in. MU. And, Coach Self is shady? And, he just got named the president of the NABC where he has been working on their various boards for years.
No, I'm not buying the shady label for Coach Self.

I purposely left off UNC of my list of schools on this post to segue into a response for you as well. I don't believe you can put UNC on that list any more. I'm specifically referring to the fact that Roy typically gets less OAD and TAD talent than KU does...at least since what, 5 - 6 years ago? They haven't had a OAD go in the first round in a decade. How many OADs has KU had get picked in the first round in that same time frame? lots.
So yah the whole fake class gate fiasco is disheartening. Roy probly knew about it but was able to maintain plausible deniability. But, Roy hasn't been able to out recruit KU for quite some time now.
