@jaybate-1.0 Hi there Special Agent Jaybate. Ive been on the fringes of posting on here over the summer. A few here and there with no real posts of substance of my own. Its ball season again and the current political climate not withstanding, I felt its a good time to jump back in again.
Your posts, as always, inspire higher levels of thought upon me. I enjoy thinking about conspiracy theories, or that's typically how I have been historically since the X files days of the early 90s. You bring an excellent point to light though by saying conspiracies are planted on purpose to misguide us from the truth.
I don't truly believe there is a conspiracy afoot in college ball. Although, I wonder about what forms of suppression that bigger shoe co's employ upon Adidas and their affiliated schools (KU)
I mean, your posts concerning 5 star talent at the 1 and 5 spots being funneled to Nike schools sounds like a conspiracy to me. At least a little bit.
This news about the seemingly top to bottom corruption in college ball doesn't seem like a conspiracy to me. Rather it seems like this has been going on since day 1 of the big shoe co's monopoly on the sport. Nike, Jordan, Adidas, AAU teams, high school recruits, money shuffled under the table etc. It was only a matter of time before it got exposed and blown open like it did last week. I cant say I was truly surprised to see it happen. Initially shocking? Yah sure. But money and power corrupts. Just a fact. And, there is big money in the big 3 sports. Football, baseball, basketball.

@jaybate-1.0 yah. I didn't connect Self's comments on retiring n 5 yrs to this. but it cant be coincidence. I seriously doubt any wrong doing by Self. Hes a boyscout. But could easily be tired of the recruiting asymmetry which will worsen with the hammer dropping on Adidas.

@KUSTEVE Wow, just 1 team in non conference schedule, in the top 25? And, only 3 in the Big 12 including us?
That does seem pretty light considering our past schedules have been bears.
I'm betting that by seasons end more Big 12 teams will have cracked the top 25 tho.

@mayjay I presume you are referring to Danny Manning's dad. Roy was an assistant on the '88 team too. Surely he had an impact as well.
@KUSTEVE I will agree that Larry returned KU to elite status with that title in '88. But the NCAA violations put tarnish on that. Roy continued where Larry left off and elevated KU even more. Prime example, he got like 4 final fours, didn't he? AND just flat out drubbed Kentucky in the early 90s. 150 - 99 or some crazy Shiite like that.
BUT Bill Self has exceeded both of those guys at KU. Neither one can touch what he's done.
@wrwlumpy bring on #14 for KU this season, conference titles. I'm inclined to believe that KU will get the b12 tourney champ and a final four this season too.

Ok, yah we should have gotten atleast one more national title. but still, no one else can touch Selfs record. Not one. Its not likely that another coach will either.

@BShark Yep! This was started with Joel Embiid! Followed by Cheick, Udoka and now Silvio. I expect this kid will unpack his bags at KU the way Josh did last season. If he does...watch the frak out. Ive never seen him play but from this video he looks like a beast to me.
I don't really follow football at all. But, for some reason I am intrigued by this years KU football team. The things Ive read on the other site point towards Coach Beaty really digging in and getting things rolling this year. I probly still wont watch any games but Id love to see those guys break .500 this year!!

I am overjoyed, ecstatic and full of pride that Bill Self is a Hall of Famer now. He deserves it more than anyone else who is actively coaching who hasn't been inducted and Imo more than some who are already in. I bet part of his speech will touch on the sentiment that he shouldn't get in because he is still coaching, that Hall of Fame is for former coaches. I understand that. But then we would be waiting a very long time to see Coach Self stand at the podium in Springfield Mass.
I wish I could go and watch him get in. I have one week left of work in Virginia! Had they scheduled the ceremony for the 2nd week of September, Id be there in a heart beat!
Rock Chalk everybody! Coach Self is a Hall of Fame coach! Did Roy get in when he was coaching at KU? I don't remember for sure. Larry didn't get in until way after he left KU. Having an active Hall of Fame coach at KU is going to be amazing for our beloved program!

@drgnslayr I know this is heresy but I'll say it anyways. I kinda hope Silvio is more like Randle than TRob. I say that because I want Silvio to be an all American at KU and I want him to stand out in the NBA. For whatever reason Thomas hasn't been able to do that.

So I am visiting my brother in Hillsborough NC which is minutes away from UNC and DUKE. I just went on a little tour of UNCs campus with my bro and got to take a peek inside Smith Center and the UNC football stadium.

What the crap!? Why the hell is Whitman leaving!? I don't buy the playing time excuse because he would have had a ton of it. Especially early in the season.
Im about a third of the way through my first travel nursing contract. I work in Interventional Radiology, quite specialized, pretty challenging. Currently Im in Charlottesville VA and by the end of my contract ( sept 8th) I should know where I am going next. Im hoping for a contract in New Haven CT, or in Kansas City, or in Durham NC. Ive got family in all three areas.
Ive never spent a lot of time in the "South" Its ok I guess. Prettier than I thought over here, that's for sure. Ive gone hiking in the mountains and been to visit Monticello, Thomas Jeffersons mansion! Super cool.
Im hoping my travel jobs allow me the freedom to catch a KU game or two this season. I can certainly get the time off any time I want. Its kind of nice. I can write time off into my contracts, no worrying about department superiority and things like that.

@kjayhawks I just read that article. Magic seems far more competent to run the Lakers compared to what Jackson is doing to that poor Knicks team. I really think Magic is just bringing hype and notoriety back to LA. He wants to attract max players. Regardless of weather Ball pans out or not he is making room for big name guys to come to LA next year.

@jaybate-1.0 Yeah man, I dunno about slapped. Josh falling to 4th was one or two picks low IMO. But what ever. Paul Pierce went 10th! Josh has the tenacity to be even better than Wiggins. I think Josh will take this chip on his shoulder and use it.
When we win it all again I'm betting we get a lot more draft picks from our team like we did in 08
@kjayhawks It will be orders of magnitude harder for Lonzo to produce compared to every other top 5 draft pick. Every single vet player out on the court, bench, role player or starter, they are all going to be focused on that kids head and trying to take it off. I cant wait to see him get his ass knocked into the stands by a hard set screen. Cannot wait!
