KU Buckets Go Fund Me Campaign • Apr 01, 2017 09:09 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 THANKS FOR ASKING. Four months ago I responded to a similar question from @REHawk with the following:

"As for my wife’s situation … nothing has changed! We have been to the Emergency Room, to Dermatologists, Neurologists, our Family Doctor, etc.,. I am continuing to spend big bucks on across the counter medicine, creams, oils, salves, etc.,. to no avail. “Bless her heart” she is much tougher now and is putting up with her situation without “all the crying out with pain.” We still have NOT found an answer yet. I’m still doing laundry every couple days, washing bed sheets and covers that have a lot of blood on them due to her numerous wounds that she scratch’s the scabs off of them. We both are dealing with it as best we can. I do think that the number of open wounds have decreased from 400 - 500 to 300 -400 which is a little progress."

Our current situation is a little bit better ... as the number of open wounds is estimated to be down to the 200 - 300 range. Bless her heart ... she is 79 years old and I now actually believe things are a bit better. We have eliminated a lot of the "Over the Counter" medicines and have now focused on two types. (1) Healing Salve's, and (2) is Tincture Merthiolate. It is kind of funny as I get weird looks when I purchase 10 bottles of Merthiolate at a time at Walgreens.

One of the things she likes to do is to take a shower at least once per week. This is GREAT, however the shower softens up all the scabs and they start falling off in the shower. When she finishes showering she goes straight to bed. So ... I better have a couple long bath towels on the bed because most of the scabs soften from the warm shower water and come off. Needless to say, she will have 200+ open wounds all of which are bleeding when she goes to bed. So it is my job to dab on the Merthiolate and wrap her legs with Rolls of Gauze. Bless her heart ... She never complains as she says "We have to Play the Hand that is Dealt to US."

In summary, she is better than what I reported previously. Don't worry about US as we are BOTH close to our LORD. I'm 74 years young and together we will get through this.

Thanks for asking !.!.! Your KU Buckets friend.

Where is @Red_Rooster? • Nov 20, 2016 07:09 PM

@mayjay ... THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you! I appreciate your comments. Several of these we already considered ... but a couple of them need some effort on our (wife and I) to chase to a conclusion. We already have an appointment with a Neurologist that is pending. They seem to be extremely busy and/or booked up and it is hard to get an early appointment. My wife is trying to tolerate this ordeal. She has cut the toes out of my "men's socks" and now wears them over her arms and she is also wearing soft / cloth gloves to help her to NOT continue scratching or "tearing up her skin." i.e. she has an estimated 300 - 400 open wounds. On a personal note, WE have spent much time on our knees in asking our Good Lord to intervene in this situation.

Thanks again Mayjay ... All the best for you and your family !! This was very thoughtful and I am humbled by your comments.

Where is @Red_Rooster? • Nov 19, 2016 04:42 AM

The "Red_Rooster" has been diverted somewhat lately. I have NOT forgot about my KUBUCKETS friends but I have been focused on a couple other things lately.

The number one focus that I have / had is caring for my 79 year old wife. She has been in and out of the hospital / doctors offices several times in the past few months. I am NOT sure that she has been diagnosed very well as to what problem she has. Her symptoms are ones that relates to the "nerve endings" under her skin. She constantly itches and scratches all over her body and ALL the time. I would say she has 300 - 400 open wounds on her body from scratching the skin so much that it openly bleeds. Her feet, calves, thighs, buttocks, stomach, back, arms, face, and ears all bleed. Constantly scratching and itching 24-hours per day. She has been to several doctors with NO Solution as of this writing. All we know now, is our primary doctors has "three other patients" with the same problem that my wife has, and they don't have a solution either. Have any of my Buckets friends heard of this condition ... and if so I would like to discuss this with you?

The other thing that is keeping me diverted is HS School Football. One of my close friends happen to be the father of the Overland Park, KS., Blue Valley Football Team coach. Tonight, Blue Valley beat Shawnee Mission East High School in Class 6A in the KS. State Semi-finals. Next weekend they will play against Derby High School in Class 6A State Championship game to be played in Wichita, KS. Hopefully, and God willing and Wife willing, I will be able to travel to Wichita to watch the game.

So ... yes I'm trying to get back into the KUBuckets routine as Basketball season is here !! And I'm ready to watch KU take that National Championship trophy!

Bless you all ... Your friend .... the Red_Rooster !!!

Ok guys • Dec 02, 2015 07:51 PM

@jayballer54,
@rocketdog,
@HawkInMizery
@DinarHawk

As far as Cutting Down the nets and ending up with the NC ... I would caution you ... as I think our weakest link now is our Head Coach. Yes, he can recruit, wine & dine parents, talk a good story, sell the KU Story, is the BEST B12 Coach, but NOT the best Final 4 coach.

As I commented on another Post previously, Self gets ALL flustered, emotional, red faced at the end of tight games. He, mentally loses control of himself which makes me think that I’m NOT convinced that he can coach "end of game situations." He gets flushed, tight, and I think that carries over to his players. They all tighten up too!

I seen it to many times to say that KU is a lock for a NC !!

Cheick • Nov 20, 2015 09:11 PM

@Statmachine I guess I must be a little "slow upstairs" as I read @jaybate-1.0 comments for the past couple years about "Big Shoe" and it really didn't click with me. Right now ... the light bulb finally came ON and it is shining Bright over a very "dim situation"! Thanks Stat !!!

Cheick • Nov 20, 2015 08:46 PM

@Statmachine I read your referenced article noted above with a "sick kind of feeling". I was also thinking of @jaybate-1.0 and his frequent reference to the "Big Shoe Companies" and the influence they play in poisoning college basketball.

Quoted Paragraphs below from the referenced article.

"Williams initially entered the recruiting circuit with some misgivings, but he soon developed a natural talent. Scan’s best player, Cheick Diallo, was spotted playing a pickup game in Bamako by Tidiane Dramé, a Malian-American, who had started a venture importing players from Mali. After hearing about Diallo, who was 6-foot-8 and still in middle school, Williams agreed to pay for his plane ticket to New York sight unseen. According to one of the numerous websites that rank teenage athletes, Diallo came into the E.Y.B.L. season as the second-ranked high-school basketball player in the country. When one reporter asked Diallo what he liked about living in the United States, he revealed both his still-maturing English and single-mindedness. “I love here because — N.B.A.!” he said. “My goal is to go to N.B.A. That was the only one thing I’m looking for is N.B.A.”

"“I can get paid for a lot of things,” Gary said. “But Tyus Battle’s not one of them.” For those who do wish to be paid, the money could be significant. The largest figure I heard being offered in exchange for one top prospect spending a year in college was $125,000, paid by a combination of an athletic department’s boosters and a sneaker-company sponsor. The money is nearly impossible to trace: A recruit’s mother might receive a box in the mail filled with $250 American Express debit cards; a father accompanying his son to a Las Vegas tournament might find a stack of chips on his bed. “Most college coaches were also players, so it’s in their blood to be competitive, and unfortunately, sometimes they compromise their values and ethics,” Rick Evrard, a lawyer who has handled N.C.A.A. investigations for more than 20 years, told me. “This is not going to stop.”

@nuleafjhawk In the Eastern KS area ... K.C. or Overland Park, Olathe, etc. there is NO MORE "Direct TV" as AT&T has bought out Direct TV. This area described above is blocked out of local Jayhawks games !!

AMEN!!!! And I read EVERYONE of them too! I feel I am richly blessed from reading, learning, absorbing ALOT of information about College Basketball in general, and in particular ... the KU Jayhawks !! THANKS TO ALL who contribute and THANK YOU "approxinfinity" OUR Founding "Father" of this Site !

Picks of my new Texas Ranch! • Oct 23, 2015 08:06 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 The farm I lived on was in Colorful Colorado just Southeast of Pueblo, Co. We didn't walk to school but did ride horseback. I was the baby of the family of 4-kids. We rode double (i.e. 4 kids on 2 horses). The coldest day I rode horseback to school I was told by my biggest brother was 32 degrees below zero! Wow!!

Picks of my new Texas Ranch! • Oct 23, 2015 05:06 PM

@Statmachine I'm a Farm Boy myself ... lived on a farm (1400 acres pasture land) 200 acres under the plow. Road horseback to a two room schoolhouse. Had chores to do each day and on each birthday, my dad would come to me, putting his arm around my shoulder, and would say, "Son ... you another year older today ... and that means you can handle more responsibility ... so I want you to continue ALL the existing chores you have been doing ... But with more responsibility I want to ADD another chore to your daily list of chores.

Needless to say ... over the years, I learned to Hate Birthdays as they meant more work. Needless to say ... I learned a lot about Responsibility along the way.

Thank you for sharing a little picture into YOUR Farm !! Be Blessed!!

Hopefully he is Jayhawk bound !!

Royals vs Twins - Game 2 • Oct 04, 2015 01:42 AM

@brooksmd I'm just looking in ... to see what is going on !! I never understand why Baseball posts were intermingled with the main reason for this site and that is KU Buckets (i.e. BASKETBALL) !!

@drgnslayr The 1/2 was a midget !!

@Texas-Hawk-10 Agree with what you said about IZZO ... right on and something Bill could learn from IZZO approach

@Hawk8086 said:

@HighEliteMajor I have always felt that when we have lost "those" games in the tournament, our players seem to played "tighter"....not to lose. Part of that comes with being the favorite....and the underdog plays with nothing to lose.
But do you think our team takes on the coaches "puckering" quality?

@texas-hawk-10

I, too, have always seen the tightening up during the NCAA's tournament. I really think the players reflect the disposition of the Head Coach. And this is where I have my problem ... Coach Self tightens up, his face gets flushed, he may even be scared of losing ... whatever the reason ... the players notice it and act in the manner of the coach. That's my 2-cents !.!.!
