wish the team to cruise from here and come home safely
2 more Perry, leave 1 for AFH to get 1,000
Ellis, 5 more
Is the Inside-Out starting again?
@Crimsonorblue22 I will root for him to get 16 tonite. Leave the ONE for the PHOG!
guys r trying to play it safely
Must be some yelling in the Locker Room, a bit tentative
Wayne is going for 30!
@Crimsonorblue22 Always wonder what does it feel to storm a court. Never have from 84-90 while at KU!
Hope we take 21 to 23 threes tonight
@Crimsonorblue22 Don't u think they played most nobody badly since beating us? So, i think we are fine after our beating. Don't think their growth rate is higher than us.
If our Team is a two halves team, get ready to rock!
Is there a possibility that HCBS is playing the Bracket to avoid the UK's region. After UK and Temple losses, I think it is hard to argue our case for 1 seed. If we are going to be 2 seed, which region will give us the best chance to advance.
I think this could be early; but, isn't HBCS plays the RPI every year and plans his schedule very early. No one knows his Team better than him. Maybe HCBS knows his Team will need some help in clever bracketing.
And, to why HCBS wants to have a deep run this year with a young team? I think HCBS may just want the legitimacy (with a FF) when he brings his troop to South Korea this summer. Just maybe. RCJH!
@wissoxfan83 Not sure what was wrong with my computer. Anyway, I meant to say thanks! Appreciated. I think we all Bucketers should maintain a good posting culture here.
I am sure you realize that we are going to hit 20 K Users soon. I am not sure there is any site like our in the country. Personally, I think it is a great achievement.
@wissoxfan83 Thanks. I did take a glance and missed that. I do agree with you that it would be a good and courteous protocol to observe before posting. I like lumpy's. I tried to delete the Thread. But, i don't think i can. RCJH!
I did not see your wonderful post on Coach Smith and I created a same thread 2 hours later. I will be more careful next time round. RCJH!
@HawksWin If memory serves, I don't think Brown engagement can be linked directly to Smith. IMO, Brown was the one who revitalized KU BB after Owen's consecutive losing seasons (82 and 83). Brown came to KU with a package in Danny Manning. Danny's late father, Ed was hired as assistant coach and Danny was then transfered to Lawrence High for his senior year.
IMO, Danny was recruited from Greensboro, NC, right under Smith's radar. I don't recall Smith was tugging Danny with Brown. Allow me to be assumptive, if Smith would want to tell Danny not to join a program with consecutive losing seasons, it is not very difficult to do so. I think we all remembered, 1982, UNC won NC with Jordan.
With Danny and 1988 NC, KU BB was revitalized.
Without Smith's blessing and support, I don't think Roy would be hired out from UNC. I remembered asking myself: Roy, who? It followed with 15 years of glories (despite having won a NC).
Brown and Wlliams gave us 20 years of good KU BB and reestablished KU as one of National Power Houses.
I respect him as he was a fellow Jayhawk, a great Coach and for those things said above that he may have done. RCJH!
Lost of a great KU alum. Once a Jayhawk always a Jayhawk.
KU to win by 14. Ellis and Oubre are the Hawks to Rock. 4 in double digits scoring.

@Shanghai_RCJH I'm with you there. Just seemed like that idea didn't get much other support! I really like hating them. It is really the only thing in my life that I allow myself to hate so vehemently.
And, continue that hatred that can't seem to fade year after year and for many many more years to come!
@benshawks08 For my 6 years at KU, I still got to say Mizery. The rest just ain't the same. Competition is one thing, HATE is another. At KU when Norm was MU coach.
Yes. UK and UNC both make me jealous! They can always trace their roots to the ONE True Blue Blood. Like A. Rupp, D. Smith, R. William, even Cal the graduate assistant. At KU, we just don't have that. RCJH!
@wrwlumpy This is a very good list for the pre-qualification.
Joe Ross just posted a long post on the other site. Interesting article! Mr Page Butler said that Joe could be the new Jaybate.
Good to have you here at KU Buckets. Totally no sarcasm. I enjoy your posts.
If Graham and Mason is not on the floor at the same time, who should guard Hickey? He could spell trouble and he is a senior.
@JayHawkFanToo My gut feel for Ellis is that if we WIN NC, he will be gone. Otherwise, I will see a guy who has invested 3 years to give himself one more chance to get the ring. RCJH!
I think we can have only a Thon or a Zimm. So, I think Zimm is waiting to see if Thon can reclassify (Clearing House could be hurdle).
So, if both are keen on KU, one may choose to commit sooner than we thought. Don't think PT is an issue for a true 5.
As both are footers, don't see them drawing Cliff as example. I think they should be looking at JoJo, Tarik (starting for LA), Jeff, just to name a few.
Either Thon or Zimm, I am sure we will be just as happy.
Hope I am right. RCJH!
If he can throw it down with authority - Thon "Thor" Maker.
@Crimsonorblue22 A scary image just appeared! Many many years ago, I was one of the little guys got tossed up at the north end of AFH to distract the opponents from making the free throws. I had no fear at all if there were nobody to catch me, i will still land on bodies. Wow, in that empty stadium, no way!
I was fortunate to be at KU when Brown and Danny were there. Yes, part of the 1988.
@cragarhawk Sure hope so. In all sports, it is hard to bring the A game 2 games in the row. Let's hope it is the case.
Looking at them:
Cobbins can draw up fouls fast. We can throw Traylor, Cliff and Landen on him. Cobbins has no credible sub in Allen and Solomon. In other words, we can put out their low post game early in the game and focus on guarding Nash and Forte.
Hickey Jr. has quick hands, we need to protect the ball better when facing him. Hickey is also a good trey gun. So, if Mason is on Forte, who will be on Hickey?
Nash and Forte are their go to guys. No suprise here. Not to say Ellis, Traylor or Mason will be assigned to them. But, our 3 guys have seen them enough to know what they are capable of. Shut either one up or both. The game would be won.
@globaljaybird Every year, BB season seems shorter in Lawrence.
Thanks Texas and OSU for an emotionally draining and physically exhausting game. I always think after an emotionally high game, a team will come out flat the next!
Looks like OSU still only has 3 main guns: Nash, Hickey Jr. and Forte III. And, HCBS said he looks at the team and he saw 8 starters. RCJH!
Great post! Maybe the reverse is also true that pro franchises would shy away from the blue bloods.

Try to get an early start on OSU discussion. I have a feeling that our regular insightful contributors are getting better in predicting the strategies and outcomes of games. Maybe our Hawks are becoming consistent; maybe we got to know our Hawks better; and, it just maybe the coaching staff are really reading our stuff here. RCJH!
Now, we need a favor from Drew to take care of WVU on 7th Feb. Mr Hield, please continue the good work and take care of Niang and Co. on 9th Feb. And, if we take care of the next 2 road games, things could be pretty clear by then. RCJH!
Thanks Mr Hield who answered my wish! RCJH!
@JayHawkFanToo I really wish Hield is right for ONLY tonight and play like a Big 12 Champ for ONLY tonight! Thanks for the favor in advance.
I predict Ellis, Mason, Greene, Oubre and Cliff to score double digits. Hawk to Rock is Cliff, I am sure he remembers the benching in Ames! RCJH! Of course, we win by double digits!
@HighEliteMajor thanks. Outside in will be the way to go to win this game. If we look at our 3 point %, we are ranked 30th in the country with only 4 other Top 25 teams ranked in the top 30 in 3 point shooting(N. Dame, Utah, Gonzaga, and Indiana). That suggests our outside game is elite, at least I think it is. RCJH!
@HighEliteMajor What if Hoiberg schemes against Ellis and Mason early, is that something to worry about? Although at TCU was more of calling the game tight by the refs, it did unsettled us. Maybe Hoiberg will see something in that.

I had 4 guys in double digits. No so bad! RCJH
I think HCBS will play it conservatively and get a W. I don't think we will win by 20+. I think we will be in control and not threaten all game long. I think we will see 4 guys in double digits scoring.
Hawk to Rock will go to Seldon. RCJH!
ESPN: "Nino Williams likely out against KU."
He is 2nd in PPG, 1st in REB for KSU and Best FT.
If the injury status holds, KSU just got younger and weaker at the glass.
However, we still need to be careful. Apart from @ OSU where they lost by 14, the rest of the games were all single digit games. In other words, they also know how to win close games.
Looking at the TCU game, I am guessing that HCBS was going to prepare a couple of players beyond the 8 man rotation in anticipation of ISU and beyond; considering that there may be minor bumps and bruises or flu.
It looked like the A Team was going to ramp up the lead so that we have cushion for B Team to get PT until Ellis got into foul trouble.
I think HCBS may do that again with KSU at the comfort of AFH.
We were lucky to get the W and provided good minutes beyond the 8.
Hope I am right and RCJH on Saturday!

Maybe HCBS is playing games with all the ranking services. The dramatic swing of our performances just keep everyone guessing. When can anyone predict a game that pans out as predicted? Maybe we start with KSU? I am still clueless. The only thing I know is that HCBS has several versions that he can dish out to win games. RCJH!
Burger Boys are doing well in Kansas! Let's get 2 of the uncommitteds! RCJH!
@Shanghai_RCJH Looking at the roster of TCU, I think the players to have good offensive stats will be Ellis and Mason. RCJH!
Very sad for Conner. I have no idea who assisted him in making the decision to transfer. But, i guess the parents weighed in heavily. IMO, unless my kid is a clear League OAD/TAD calibre, I couldn't care less about PT or Role for his SO year, I would care more about if he is happy where he is.
I guess a player who doesn't get to play and compete hurts him and maybe lost in disllusionment.
Hope he recovers from it and have a great career in WSU. RCJH!
