Doke is an amazing player ESPECIALLY in a 4 out. Imo it maximizes his strengths.
This is why I kept saying in the off-season that either McCormack or Silvio had to develop range to make a high-low work with Doke. Tristan is probably the best fit in that role for now.

KU's overall strategy is fine. Make someone other than Toppin beat them and so far, UD has other guys stepping up.
Doke is the most important player on KU's roster. He has to play as much as possible
Offense is trash without Doke.
Last time KU played Dayton, we held them to 43 points and Cole Aldrich dropped KU's first official triple double in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

He's still very raw, I'm not too surprised by this.
Dayton is not a big team, Toppin is their biggest player (6-9 220). They will test KU's defense and I'm very curious who Self puts on Toppin because putting Garrett or Ochai on him means putting Doke/McCormack/DeSousa on a much smaller player.
It's going to be fun watching KU try to stop Obi Toppin tomorrow night.
Dotson hasn't been very good most of this season.

The point is that’s defensive basketball one-o-one from our coach that’s supposed to be a defensive minded guy. I'm not missing the point, most schools these days play zone defenses so screening isn't a big offensive play so kids today don't know how to defend it properly when they encounter it. This is a different generation than when you were in school. I know this because I am middle school basketball coach and we run 90% 2-3 zone because we're so limited in practice time we don't have time to teach proper man defense.

The 2 bigs are why the three is so open, this game could be a track meet. Only way it works great offensively is if Dave can hit that 17 footer 60% of the time.
And KU doesn't have the back court depth to play 4 guards the entire game.
