@CaptnMo GET READY!!! To experience the best atmosphere in sports and dare I say anything. I'm totally jealous. I remember my first game in the Fieldhouse was against Notre Dame in 87 I think...they had David Rivers. Got Dick Vitales autograph and he kept my dad's pen! He was getting a little senile back then...
Get there as early as possible and just walk around and soak in everything. Booth HOF is excellent. But also just walk around the lower level and see where the KU locker room is located. They'll put up ropes when the players come out but you can stand really close. Don't know if they still sign autographs after the Johnny Maziel thing. If you have time go up to the last row behind the KU bench to see where I sat when Jacque hit a three to beat Indiana in 93...it was roughly 115 degrees up there and LOUD!
The alma mater and rock chalk before the game makes me cry every time. And the pre-game video is really cool, too. If game was later you should always order a half TAC sandwich and Wisconsin cheddar soup in a bread bowl at Quintons on Mass. ENJOY!

@wissoxfan83 great post! I just mentioned the Syracuse free throws yesterday. 86 dook loss I blame the red uniforms. Zona '97 really hurt and UTEP was also a bad memory. Did we really lose to Michigan last year, I swear we made the final 4? Yes, I've picked KU to win title on my bracket EVERY year (tiebreaker 83-79) bc I REALLY believe we're gonna win. Ironically, I got 3rd place in 08 when my wife won. She's an Indiana grad so it still warms my heart she picked us!

Love this topic cuz I've been thinking of it since the first game. Wayne is good, but he doesn't seem to stand out in any one area (yet). Love to see him stay.
As for Greene, he stood out to me in warmups in boulder. I'll prolly regret saying this, but he reminded me of Scottie pippen. Long and he can run and we all know he can shoot it. I honestly think he may be top 20 pick after next year or the next...

It seems we always play at least one game in KC and a few non-con road games which aid in recruiting I presume. I seem to remember HCRW always tried to play a road game in the seniors home town or state.

Even walking down the hall behind the west bleachers is a walk down memory lane. Bleachers are painted and scoreboard is really cool but it's still AFH, best arena EVER!

Totally agree drgn. The best way to attack a zone is to ATTACK THE ZONE!!! Either drive the gaps or pass to a post in a gap. The high post was wide open against UF but we never had anyone flashing there. If you get it to the high post then the zone will collapse to guard leaving someone open. Guards spot up for threes and low post get as low as you can go! That effectively results in the high-low but against a zone. Lastly, I'd love to see Andrew cut from the backside like he did earlier in the year. I'm definitely not a coach but I could imagine HCBS in the huddle say (very calmly) "Guys when you pass it it to the right and the ball sticks and you're scared and tentative and feel like falling out of bounds, how bout Andrew cut to an open area maybe near the free throw line and then you step through the pressure and pass it to Andrew and then he can score, cool? Jayhawks on three 1, 2, 3 JAYHAWKS!"

For the record, it was a really fun game and I was more bummed about not seeing overtime than actually losing. Still felt more calls went against KU am I wrong? Late whistles.
HEM I'm w you. Brannen got in early which I was excited about then nothing. I went down before the game and he's really tall. I'd pick Brannen to get the minutes. But he must not play enough defense?
I like this move. I'm excited to see our young Hawks in person tomorrow and having FM at point should allow us to run w Tad's boys...even at altitude playing a faster game should free up Wigs and Selden to just play and not think so much....
We've always called it AFH Rocky Mountain cuz AFH West was in Manhattan...but I think that's now referred to as the Hawktagon... Anyway I'll be at the game wearing blue! May try to follow Jesse's blog on my phone...

I'm clearly biased when it comes to defending HCBS. But I think his perceived struggles have more to do with the OAD players he's gotten, not his system. I hope Andrew brakes the stereotype.
