Alright. Well if its not tampering we absolutely need to have a GM to be looking at every single player in America and try to recruit the right ones here.
If we are picking our transfer guys from those who declare their intent to transfer and are fishing for the highest bidder while our competition is actively recruiting players that are culturally savvy and having success in other programs… no wonder we are a dumpster fire and getting left in the dust!
I had some chicken livers in the garage and didnt bother to refrigerate them because we had a cold spell. Then we had a warm spell and the funk was unimaginable.
Is it still tampering to talk to a player on another team that isn't seeking to transfer? Would having a GM give Bill a layer of deniability to do so? Are the right fit guys those guys in other programs who would be culture guys here but are trying to make it work for their other team?
I think Bill has come to the same conclusion, bringing in Hunter felt unnatural when we did it and i wouldnt be surprised if he considers a lot of the portal usage we did these past few years as his hand being forced.
If Bill is going to stick around I anticipate that he tries to go back to building out of HS with just a few portal pieces. The key is that the HS kids need to have a very high ceiling.
@kuballin10 would you rather Bill be gone instead of one more year, if it means we lose Flory and Dp?

A definite silver lining when the team isnt fairing well is its a healthy opportunity to invest time and energy elsewhere. There is no reason to beat yourself up over not wanting to be feeling the repeated failure of a team you arent on and cannot influence. Thats entirely healthy and logical.

Dickinsons evaluation as a preseason AA, and the continued praise lauded on him by sleepwalking announcers is a testament to the assumption that KU pulls top talent and develops it.

Yeah and you could easily say Shak and Mayo have big flaws as well.
Flory is the only guy on the roster who doesnt have large weaknesses on at least one end of the court, excepting youth.
And last years roster only had 3 guys of that nature ( no big holes in game): furphy, mccullar and maybe elmarko (if you assume he can improve his shot)
You may say “yeah thats synonymous with nba guys” but i dont think it has to be. Cant we pull kids who dont have huge flaws? At least, only have a couple projects, vs the majority of the team?
How many flawed players can you put out there?
KJ - undersized, no range
Hunter - no d, weak on glass
Rylan - can’t dribble
Coit - undersized, cant pass
Storr - lack of situational awareness
Juan - doesnt look for his shot some games
Can we recruit well rounded players at least? Are other schools trying to assembles rosters full of players with critical flaws?
Did Bill have any idea how difficult it would be to get these guys to blend together in a way that their flaws would be masked? Or did he think he could fix all 6 of these guys?

Shak is the mystery to me. Need defense. We shouldnt be acting like a football team with a separate offense and defense team. We need a blended team that can score.
I hope Bill puts some TLC into next years roster
