Maybe Self was dreaming about pulling Ochai's redshirt for the last month.
Remember when Missouri played the 4-1 and was a 2 seed that lost to Norfolk State in the first round in 2012. We're better than that team right?
Are you guys assuming that Self has word at this point that SDS is not going to happen and thats why he moved on from the high low after Udoka went down?
@BShark I'm gaining confidence in this theory about the Ochai redshirt: he redshirted simply because Vick decided to come back. Going 4 guard allows Self to play them together and not as a replacement.
Honestly, Vick carried our team in some of those games. i truly hope the kid can get back to where he was in the non-con, hungry, humble, playing in the flow.
I am ok with him starting with Vick. I want to see if Vick gets his head out of his ass in a 4 guard lineup. I think he might, this game not withstanding.

@Bwag Almost another TO on Vick there, threw it at his feet. Slowed the play down, ball rotated slowly to Q, Q tried to make up for the lost half step and makes the charge.
I mean who shoots layups throwing the ball down at the basket while running at the basket from 5 foot out? Is Marcus aware that the things he does on layups do not look like shots that people make?
Garrett takes some shots that are just throwing the ball at the basket.
No concept of putting touch on the ball.

Yep. I like this a lot. At the 4 he can focus on defense, at PG focus on distribution.

Doke's a good kid but about as much fun as a battering ram, and slows everything down, not good at kicking out.
Ogbaji smart, plays d, CALM... alternative Vick, and team connector. No jitters man! wow.
We're a different team. The ball will move, the runs can happen. This could all work out.

Yes we can't shoot and we're tragically flawed for the tourney, but this team can still win a tough Big 12. I know that's not the goal, but I'd sure as hell prefer to keep the streak alive than not this year, with very little hope for a tourney run.

@justanotherfan maybe just an insurance policy / leverage? What leverage does he have with Vick right now for making stupid plays? He needs Vicks shooting ability, always.
Would Ogbaji be a redshirt if Vick hadn't come back? I did not see definite red flags from what I saw of ogbaji's play prior to the redshirt. He seemed able to contribute as a shooter then and now.
Kid is a gym rat who hangs out with Mitch (at least in videos). Seems smart, focused and calm. I'm not betting against him to contribute this year.

Looks like Jimmy Butler is stirring up drama in Philly. Maybe Wiggins grows from his departure.
I want Big Dave to play, not be buried behind Dedric. Dave will be an asset on the defensive end and hustles.
But I don't think he will get much time at the 4. Consequently, not much time at all save breathers and foul trouble.
Also, I want to see Marcus only come in the game with a minimum of two other shooters, meaning Dotson, Q, Ogbaji, Vick. If we are truly 4 guard, then the rule should be only with 3 of the 4 shooters unless under durress (fouls or boneheads).
No Vick turning the ball over; short leash.
No Charlie and no KJ in non-emergencies.
Why can't Mitch hit his threes this year? I had high hopes in that dept.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I appreciate this perspective. While Devonte struggled to produce against Oregon, going 0-7, he shot 9-18 the following year in our loss to Villanova. This (the Oregon game) I think clouds my judgement of Devonte's ability to defer, but you are right that Devonte was comfortable in a leadership role.
I forgot how good Devonte was against Villanova. It was not Devontes fault we didn't win a ring his senior year.
@HighEliteMajor I am very conflicted on my answer to that question. Dotson is an alpha dog by nature. Devonte learned to be one. Devonte was great. Became a 40% 3pt shooter. That might be reason alone to say yes. But Dotson has extreme speed and wants to run this team. When we are in March and through conference play, maybe this kid has enough seasoning on him to lead us through a couple weekends?
I think the answer is yes to Devonte but it surprised me that for me the answer was not easy. Guess I'm all in on the kid.
