YA HA! emojis are back in business.
@approxinfinity AUGH! emoticons not working?
@brooksmd :beer: :smile: :frowning:
@VailHawk Scrotumodem.
@VailHawk Ah yeah.. I was scratching my head, wasn't sure where they put the new security settings :)
testing
I migrated us to a beefier server and upgraded to the latest version of nodebb tonight. This version has tighter control of access privileges. If you guys encounter any weirdness, please speak up here or email me at approxinfinity@gmail.com. Should be good!
test
@brooksmd Ok I migrated us to another server with the latest and greatest board software on it. We lost the last couple messages but I figured it wasn't a big deal as no one's really on, so I went ahead with the move. Should be straight now.
Those programs were lucky. They beat the teams they were supposed to beat in order to face the teams they were not supposed to face. That's what we need to do. Survive and advance.
Duke did plenty of losing to lesser teams over the last decade too though. In fact it would look very comparable to Selfs tenure except for winning the last one with a 9 stack in a pretty horribly officiated game. So I'll say thanks but no thanks to the Duke way. Let's just talk about UConns success.
@DoubleDD Smith won 2 championships, same as Roy. The difference is that he was coach for 36 years, 11 final fours, and 23 consecutive tournament appearances. I agree, that 3 more championships would make the time and consistency there irrelevant in terms of Legend status for Roy, but winning even 1 more would tie him for 4th all time for multi-championship coaches. I'd say one more and his Legend status at UNC would be complete.
John Wooden UCLA 10
Mike Krzyzewski Duke 5
Adolph Rupp Kentucky 4
Jim Calhoun Connecticut 3
@Statmachine Just occurred to me that if Kobie comes to Kansas, if we employed the J-Lo formula for nicknaming, he'd be K-Eu... Come on down K-Eu!
@RJ http://lmgtfy.com/?q=jaybate ↗
Hmm. that's not quite this ..
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=jaybate+1.0 ↗
But it's pretty close.
Hopefully he knows he can find @jaybate-1.0 that easily.
@brooksmd I'm almost exactly 30 years younger than you. Always was the youngest in my grade too. Guess cut off dates for public school don't change much :smile:
@ralster And shame on Jason Kidd for the whole water spilling incident and dragging Tyshawn into it. That should not define his professional career.
@KUSTEVE What I saw that I liked about AW3 was that he seemed to be a. smart and willing to do whatever was asked of him, b. able to get out on the break and transition pressure defense to offense well c. a decent 3 pt shot. What I didn't like was that his reactive footspeed seemed a bit slow on d, and his 3-gun was extremely cold for several games. I hope he'll get all the PT he needs at Nebraska and be one of ones we say got away. I hope Brannen will improve his court awareness and be impactful on all facets of the game, not just set-shooting.
As many NBA experts will say, you need to be extremely good at one thing to make it in the league. But if you can't make a 3-pointer for half a season, and that is your only real job, you're probably not going to be seeing much PT at any level. When Brannen wasn't make his shots, he was maybe a hair worse (he had his moments) than AW3 not making shots. But, he was way worse than Svi not making shots.
@DoubleDD I watched the TRob video about 5 times :) He's a man, baby!
@jaybate-1.0 I spoke to a family member about aw3; I did not ask directly but I'm pretty confident it was decided based on lack of PT. I don't know that he could have worked any harder or been a better teammate. The writing was just on the wall that year. I mean maybe he could have also been concerned about an injury recurring? Purely speculation but recall he was doing well before getting hurt and when he got back he was out of the rotation and never really got a shake thereafter.
@jaybate-1.0 skirting the edge of satire as your baby picks up steam... :)
@wissoxfan83 Nice try, Bill.
@justanotherfan Bill's people need to update that.
@DanR Thanks for the correction. The basketball-shoe complex will never be mainstream news, unfortunately. What would be the highest profile media that could highlight the issue that isn't beholden to shoeco money?
@HighEliteMajor What would be the point of recruiting a perimeter body? I'm sure we could reload on the perimeter with someone top 50 next year.
Come on Greek Freak. Be our legit footer!
I thought I'd die... but I didn't....
Thanks for reminding us that Cuonzo Martin, to date, has not appeared to be a very good coach. And he wasn't pulling a haul like this at Tennessee... more like one 5-star a year (Stokes in 2012... Hubbs in 2013). Tennessee was a Nike school... So question, is Nike trying to stack a Cal team (UCLA is adidas) and LSU (Mississippi State is adidas) because they are targetting those areas of the country?
Has this already been addressed? I don't recall if anyone pointed out that Kentucky, while having brand recognition, isn't really the ideal location for a basketball Mecca from a marketing perspective.
PAC-12, was that a law on campaign finance limitations or something?
@KansasComet "It's alright if you love Bill, it's alright if you don't. I'm not afraid of you running away, I get the feeling you won't."
What the Cheick are we talking about?
@jaybate-1.0 Hello Thon. Why don't you come join us..
Cheick your money, Maker.
He's ruthless at Chess.... Cheick... Cheick... Cheick... CHEICKMATE!
Did you know that the currency of Mali is the Cheickel?
Move over Wheaties, real athletes endorse Gluten Free Honey Nut Cheicks!
@truehawk93 he also lucked into it a little bit with Parker going down and getting traded to Minnesota where he could shine. But I get your point. Kansas is very capable of preparing him for the league. Moreso than Michigan. Certainly after Michigan's season last year.
If wearing these is wrong then I don't want to be right!
@jaybate-1.0 haha, you're on a roll. We've got the wind in our sails and one open seat. He'll come around. Or he won't, that's cool too. Feels good!
@jaybate-1.0 forgot about Most Things I Worry About Never Happen Anyway... Great song. I need to binge on some Petty tomorrow at work.
Interestingly after your post, I looked up the band members in the Heartbreakers, wondering who he played with (I remembered Mike Campbell, that was it)... and I noticed that Dave Grohl played with the Heartbreakers in 1994 briefly, after Cobain died. He declined Petty's invitation to stay on permanently. And of course, he did exactly what you said of Petty.. went on to show everyone he had the goods. I have often thought about how he may never have formed Foo Fighters if Cobain hadn't died, and we would never have had The Colour and the Shape, one of the finest albums of the 90's. Maybe he had a heart to heart with Petty somewhere in there.
@jaybate-1.0 Sheryl Crow? Psshaw!

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm still holding my breath on Brown. It doesn't make much sense why he would cut us prior to choosing a school. Seems like after the Diallo signing, Kansas becomes the most attractive destination. But who knows.
@JayHawkFanToo Well.. I wonder if we can/will get in on Izundu. Norm was scouting him last week.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?t=87&v=O90Re65z_lI>
Seems like if we don't go after the Greek Freak, we should go after a big before Tevin Mack, who seems like he'll follow Shaka to Texas anyway.
@RockkChalkk Great point. This trend towards the safe home school where you'll get all the minutes and dominate compared to your peers and [in some case] weak conference opponents seems to be the natural extension of the down classification / up classification gimmick that all the top recruits are now doing in high school.
Same net effect. Shine and get all the minutes, mask your weaknesses against mostly bad opponents. Enhance your stock.
Same as going overseas and playing against weak competition. Seems to be working for Emmanual Mudiay in China. So why not do the same thing if you can do it in your backyard instead of on the other side of the planet?
And 2x in the year, if you can hold your own athletically for 40 minutes against the guy you man up on the uncoached team of athletic freaks in your cruddy conference, nobody will be able to infer much about your lack of basketball acumen because the rest of your team got dominated. You were the one slightly bright spot by comparison. Don't need to learn a thing about basketball. Just show up.
Keep gettin' dem checks!
Didn't Michigan lose to New Jersey Institute of Technology last year? Come on down Jaylen.
@RockChalkinTexas Embiid beat out EJ? I love me some Embiid, but that's a little harsh. Tom Rob beat out Sasha.. tough draw for Sasha.
@Crimsonorblue22 I was surprised as well, to find out that he did the classify down thing....
@BeddieKU23 Wiggins did reclassify down and then back up. Kids having been doing this for years. They reclassify down to dominate younger competitition, be the star focus of their team, get on recruiting radars, and then if it makes sense to reclassify up they do. If not, they can stay down another year and attempt to improve their stock.
Thornton did the same thing, having originally been part of the class of 2015 and then reclassifying down. Then the opening for PG happened at Duke and bam, right time to reclassify back up.
@Duanep5ku Hey man! Here's a link to some of the info about that board that @RockChalkinTexas mentioned. The board runs on nodebb, which is an evolving platform. Features come, features go... but the nodebb guys try to make things intuitive, so once you play with it a while, hopefully it feels familiar. Welcome aboard!

@wissoxfan83 forgot collison. look at that lengthy list! good stuff.
@jaybate-1.0 And strategic thinking must be beyond good and evil if Ratface is a strategic genius.
At what point does it stop being evolution and start being corruption? (Rat-torical question)
Yeah hi. I'd like an iced cappuccino with a 400 year old bowlcut on top...
It is creepy as hell. I never thought I'd see coach k, capuchin crypts and Disneyland in the same thread on a message board. We are so anticonsumerist right now.
