Royals vs Brew Crew... Ice em Down • Jun 16, 2015 04:15 AM

@brooksmd :) was going to move to another house in the area (Richmond, VA). we've backed off from that idea for the time being.

Don't worry, board's not going anywhere. In the event of my untimely demise, I've written into my will that a decent sum of money go to my pet monkey who enjoys registering users on KU Buckets all day long by slamming him hands on the keyboard. He'd never let it go under.

@brooksmd its thick here too. all my shorts are packed up b/c we were supposed to be moving (didnt happen yet). ended up buying a pair of shorts yesterday to get by.

@wrwlumpy When / where was the last one (sad Self) taken?

Embiid, Alexander, Diallo>Karviar Shepherd • Jun 12, 2015 01:25 AM

@drgnslayr I like him... until he's competing with Sasha for big man minutes.

Did Vick get the kiss of bench? • Jun 12, 2015 01:24 AM

@jaybate-1.0 Watching him in drills, I'm thinking you're right.

RICO GATHERS ARRESTED AT WALMART. • Jun 12, 2015 01:23 AM

@wrwlumpy This is unfortunate. I happen to like Gathers. Seems like a pretty good kid on the court. And when you're stealing $171 of stuff from Walmart.... well, doesn't that settle it that Scott Drew runs a clean program? Kudos for that. The last few years I've come to appreciate Drew a lot more.

Yes, stealing isn't cool. But this could be a lot worse. I hope this doesn't derail him.

@drgnslayr it was a lyric written by someone I knew once. I don't think it was the Dylan song "I once knew a man". The lyric popped in my head a lot when Tyshawn was on the team.

@Crimsonorblue22 :) That makes me happy.

I once knew a man, a skinny man, a skinny man from Hoboken. And if I told you how skinny he was, you'd think that I was jokin'.

Grade The New Kansas Recruiting Class • Jun 11, 2015 04:31 AM

@HighEliteMajor If we're going to compare this class to a class that was integral to our 2008 championship, lets compare it to the bigs-heavy class that preceded the Chalmers, Rush, Wright, Downs class....

Galindo, Giles, Jackson, Kaun, Robinson... If this new class is an integral piece to an NC as that one was? Yes, a 10 I'd think, at that's the goal That 2004 class would have to be a 10 as well.

Pre and post OAD-era-at-Kansas comparison is very difficult. Even the class you mentioned had a supposed OAD in Rush, and it was a bit of luck that we had him until his Junior year.

@Statmachine Sherron and Elijah! Awesome. Welcome back, guys.

... but he may be THE top hustling post player in college basketball over the past decade! Yep... you heard it here first. THE top hustling post player in college basketball over the past decade!

I am really really happy to have Diallo. I expect him to be my favorite all-time OAD, for what that's worth. He made the Jordan Brand Classic and Mcdonald's All-American games his personal highlight reels, for what that's worth :) He just wants it more, every play. And it's not just hustle, it's focus. He's an intense dude. I watched those joke all-star games several times, and thoroughly appreciated him whooping up on kids playing half speed protecting the supposed goods. They looked stunned. WTF is this guy doing?

Winning.

Did Self advise Oubre to stay? Anyone know?

In the episode they visit a pinball museum in CA, where all the machines are available to play... I added a visit to http://pacificpinball.org/ ↗ to my bucket list. Also, has anyone gone to the city museum in St. Louis? A coworker made me aware of it a few weeks ago. Gigantic adult sized playground. Sounds incredible. Also bucket listed. http://www.citymuseum.org/ ↗

In the Igbo pantheon, Chukwu is the source of all other Igbo deities, and is responsible for assigning them their different tasks. The Igbo people believe that all things come from Chukwu, who brings the rains necessary for plants to grow and controls everything on earth and the spiritual world.

Bring the rains, big fella.

@JayhawkRock78 You sound like the voice of reason. WTF dude.

I'll look into it. Thanks guys.

@drgnslayr agreed. Very hopeful that the driving creativity on display in his clips translates to D-1.

Tyshawn - 6'4 177 (at NBA combine 2012).
LeGerald - 6'4 180 (supposedly).

MEMORIAL DAY FLOODING • May 27, 2015 12:09 PM

@RockChalkinTexas Wow, that's crazy! Was the pre-flooding level low or average? How long do you think it will take to recede?

Wiggins and James, 01/31/2015 • May 25, 2015 10:59 PM

@drgnslayr Agreed. That foul was the beginning of the end of TJ Ford's career, right when he was firing on all cylinders. He was never the same, and it was a damn shame. Horford did visit him in the hospital after the game, but damage done.

Wiggins and James, 01/31/2015 • May 25, 2015 05:21 PM

This isn't the first time for Horford. While I think he has a conscience I also think he's prone to episodes of in-the-moment competitive sociopathy (ics).

Wiggins and James, 01/31/2015 • May 24, 2015 09:50 PM

@REHawk @Crimsonorblue22 I appreciate the perspective. Just seeking to discredit the decision-making process by Cleveland. They sought defense - they traded a solid defender (and capable scorer) for one of the arguably worst interior defenders in the league. He gets hurt and they start clicking. And if hte media goes so far as to say that they are better defensively because he's out, and that's what they need at this juncture, I'd like them to drop the other foot and acknowledge that the Wiggins trade was a mistake for Cleveland.

I totally agree that Minnesota is better for Wiggins. But I'd like to see Gilbert and LeBron take some heat for making a short-sighted decision. I've never been a fan of James, nor Gilbert, and I'd like to see them humbled.

Wiggins and James, 01/31/2015 • May 24, 2015 06:23 PM

More evidence that Wiggins would have been more valuable than Love ... Now there's talk of the loss of Love being addition by subtraction for the Cavs D, helping them to the 2 0 lead they have over the Hawks. So again, why not acquire an interior defender like Mozgov instead of trading for Love?

Warriors vs Rockets, game 3 • May 24, 2015 03:30 PM

I watched it. Was most impressed by warriors ability to score off penetration. I'm starting to feel more confident that can take care of business against LeBron. So fun to watch.

Cliff mystery revealed • May 23, 2015 02:36 AM

@HighEliteMajor I'm on the fence. I agree with you, Cliff needs to own his mistake. He wasn't tricked, but he is still a kid and it seems he didn't understand the risk vs reward here.

@drgnslayr hm. I didn't agree with you when you said he shouldn't have gone initially.. Now I'm not so sure. Certainly if he misses the lottery, you'll be right.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES ALMOST SEEM UNFAIR • May 20, 2015 02:27 AM

@bskeet I'd like to believe people get rewarded for being good sports. But if the ends [of winning championships] justify the means, then what it is to be good sports is subjective. And Coach K continues to parade about, smelling like a rose.

Nowhere in "If" by Rudyard Kipling does it say anything about "If you can be a good sport, while others seek to win at all costs". Pity.

@drgnslayr wu tang clan ain't nothin to chuk with! Holy smokes! Would be fun to see how far we could develop a kid like that.

The myth of the mid-range jump shot • May 19, 2015 12:14 PM

@DoubleDD It's easier to step into a midrange shot when it is open, because unlike a three, you don't have to be thinking about stopping short of a line when stepping into it. And players shooting midrange shots as opposed to 3s have a better chance of getting in position for a rebound, but might sacrifice something in getting back into transition defense if the other team is pushing it. And our bigs shooting midrange shots would not be in as good rebounding position.

I like where you're going with this; who do you think on this team should be attempting these midrange shots? Any particular players?

Vick commits • May 18, 2015 01:23 AM

@dylans Really happy with this signing. From watching the scant vids of him, I think he's a year off from being strong enough and explosive enough to contribute a large number of meaningful minutes, but he's creative and confident taking it to the hole and has good handles, while also having a nice looking shot to keep defenders honest. I'm sure he'll get his sh-- packed a bit and have to adjust to D-I, but once he figures it out and fills out, he could be a real weapon.

He reclassified to 2016 after committing to SMU, saying he'd do a year of prep school. I wonder if Larry had told him to hit the weight room hard. At the risk of incurring the wrath of @HighEliteMajor .... Underrated! (if he can put on 20+ pounds of muscle)

@blackmild33 Let's hope.
