Sweet! Can you guys please email pics to me at approxinfinity@gmail.com?
Like clean layouts and fast page load times but like pics too. Also not sure about implications of using copyrighted content... Can you guys send me some pics you think are good to use and I can mess around with it a bit and see how it comes out?

Agreed. Thought a lot about EJ over the last year, and how Self's psychology just didn't work with him. I think for EJ, maybe more so than others that have come through the system, what would have worked better is a longer leash when he was an underclassman and a shorter leash once he was supposed to know the ropes. He had no business being out there in the Michigan game after a few really boneheaded mistakes.
I feel like because this was antithetical to how Self handled everyone else, he was not going to make an exception, for several reasons, including that it would undermine the perception that you earn your minutes, Self's trust, and your right to make a few mistakes, by staying and working hard. But in EJ's case, this just didn't work out in that game. It was perhaps exacerbated by the fact that he loved EJ, and probably because of his extremely short leash with EJ early on, was overcompensating by leaving him out there on the biggest stage when he was clearly not thinking straight.
It remains to be seen with Tharpe getting handed the keys, but I think that Self has gotten a pure PG backup in Mason as well, and possibly had a philosophy shift from recruiting combo guards, with no true PGs, after last year's outcome, so that at least at that position, he can have a short leash with anyone.
Alright, think I got it all squared away now with the domain name stuff. Let me know if you guys still have issues.
Starting board fix now. This will cause some down time, so be prepared.
I'm scared that LJW is in a financial crisis, and as much as we may not like some of their policies, its really nice having a dedicated reporting site generating content, if nothing else as a starting point to frame our discussions. Here's to hoping they find their way and keep pumping out stories for us to chew on!
Yeah IE9, just doesnt seem to like this board!
Unfortunately, I think people will end up having to reupload (for those that are broken now) but I'm pretty optimistic I'll have it fixed at 8AM tomorrow.
That was lots of fun, thanks for doing that wissox! I really liked the format.
Want to fix the avatar functionality (proved it out on another server) but there are 50 people on and I don't want to punt everyone! I think I'm going to try at around 8AM EST in the morning.
@jayhawkfantoo yep, I've been testing on another server I got today and think I know the exact steps to rectify the problem now (have it working perfectly on the test server), just waiting for a good time to do it when people wont mind getting punted.
Awesome, thanks JHFT for verifying that.
@kchiefs Hey thanks for looking into this. i've gotten a second server now so I can sandbox the changes and hopefully get it straight.
Def appreciate your help!
Other than the domain name stuff, we'll still need to figure out if IE9 reply modal is actually broken in the nodebb code or a config problem with our instance (I had posted a bug on their board but nobody replied, which makes me wonder if its not just our config -- link β)
@jaydogger lookin good JD, thanks!
My fault, the title of my post was misleading, changed it... he isnt speculating on starting rotations, just speculating on rotations. Not really fair to Keegan :)
Someone did mention Landon Lucas; didn't Self describe him as a "load" last year? (link β) -- I'm definitely excited to see what he can do. He could be our UNC-Aldrich this year.

Thanks nuleaf. I do think that the config stuff will get way easier though once I figure everything out, so it shouldn't be an issue for long.
As far as the problems our provider had this morning, I'm assuming these are atypical for them, but if that doesn't prove to be the case I might be shopping for another provider for us. We'll see.
Oh my gosh thats too much thinking right now! Ha! But awesome. Will try this evening before bedtime. Thanks for putting this together.
Yeah.. after this mornings problems, I think I'm going to wait until the evening again to monkey with it... Thanks for your patience on this one.
Our provider went down this morning. When they came back up, the site was no longer working. It took a while to get the site back to a working state (I now have kubuckets.com mapped to our IP address, but there is still an issue with some avatars -- will look again tonight).
We'll get there, and as others have stated, by the time the season starts, this place will be rocking. I guarantee it.. Well, I guarantee it will be rocking or I will be bald. One or the other. Nothing against bald people. Bald is lovely.
Yours,
Approxinfinity
Sorry brooks! I see the problem. The site is trying to get your picture here:
/
but I have redirect still in place that moves kubuckets.com to the IP and drops everything after in the url... your pic can actually be accessed here:

So its not lost, its just I need to fix some stuff still. I think the fix that I did just do this AM would make it work if you reupload, but I'd need to confirm. You want to test that for me?
Thanks! Looks like the new pictures arent working again because I still need to change some things... but I don't want to mess with it with everyone on the site.
Lulu, the easiest way to make the link clickable in the body of the post is type your words out like "here's the link", then highlight the words you want hyperlinked in the editor, and then click the link icon (the last one up top). This will then create the syntax to make it a hyperlink, and all you then have to do is Ctrl-V the url where the cursor is at that point (the part that says link url). I haven't tried it in the title like you've got here, I'll try to edit it and see if it works.
EDIT: Lulu, it looks like that link text syntax doesnt work in the title of the article, so I moved the link to the body and the description to the title. I know this violates some sort of Prime Directive (for you Star Trek nerds out there) but people have struggled a little with the linmks, and I want to help keep the news part of the forums nice and consistent so its easy for people to get to their stories. So, I apologize for modding your post!
This is now complete. Port number no longer necessary and avatars now work....
Awaiting domain name resolution. Hopefully that works, if not and it causes problems, I'll roll it back to IP quickly.
I forgot all about that video! Thanks for the flashback.
GOING TO MESS WITH SITE AT 11:30 EST TO TRY TO FIX DOMAIN NAME AND AVATARS -- AT THIS TIME WE WILL LIKELY BE UNSTABLE!
EDIT: DONE
@jaydogger I see what you mean... This might be a good candidate to request on the nodebb issues page β. If I have the bandwidth I may try to tackle this at some point, but its lower priority than other things for me at the moment, although I totally agree it would be way better to be nested more than 1 layer deep.
They do have a feature where you can address people by using @ and their username in your post (like I did here -- worth noting, it didnt like it when I used anything but lowercase.. yech). This way, you can target the person higher in the comment thread that you're addressing.. it's something...
Anyway, I will get involved in their code base at some point soon, but first priority for me is to get the configuration right.
reply to reply 1
Not sure. I don't have a Mac. Can anyone report back on other browsers?
Yup yup. Html equivalent would be < br >< br > (minus the spaces). To get a bulleted list, try the third icon in the reply box, which converts an asterick into a bullet.
Appears there is a bug in IE not allowing replies. I confirmed it in IE9. If you can switch to Firefox or Chrome, please do so guys. I also added an issue to the open source code repo where our CMS is developed, which you can see here β
Also worth noting... the reply functionality does not appear to work in Internet Explorer.
EDIT: Addressing this in thread here
That's great slaterman. Thanks guys!
Hope to resolve that tonight if possible!
HEM! You're right, but it's still fun to imagine Ford squirming some.. kind of like watching Sean Sutton lie down stiff as a board on the sideline as Kansas beat up on his team... These people are like our Wiley Coyotes and Elmer Fudds.
No I don't think Wiggins belongs in the same sentence, and honestly, I'm having a very hard time imagining Wiggins going #1 overall. I'm sure he'll be awesome, but with his body type, just having a hard time picturing it. Maybe after his Hudyization...
Here are the items I'm going to focus on:
- Fixing domain name resolution to IP
- This will fix broken avatar images
- Getting SMTP set up correctly (emails don't presently work, i.e. forgot password email, etc)
Will report back on progress here.
:) I find myself thinking of Travis Ford and Scott Drew as drinking buddies around Media Day...
Didn't know much about Ford, so looked him up on Wikipedia (link β):
"He played basketball for the Missouri Tigers and was named to the Big Eight Conference All-Freshman team. The following year, Ford transferred to the University of Kentucky. He is still known at Missouri as Travis the Traitor as he was a highly touted part of a good team there with fellow stand-out Anthony Peeler."
Had no idea!
The classical music on the X Mo cracks me up.. Why not more highlight reels with classical music?!

So, I think the favourite button is pretty cool, because (at a very very cursory glance, I may be making this up....) I think your profile accumulates a count of the favourite clicks you get and builds up a cumulative prestige ranking for your name...
Yep! I think I can fix it tonight. I know what the issue is (see if you add the :4567 on your image link like the regular site, it will show up) So, basically.. I need to get the site either hitting the IP without the port #, or even better, if I can get kubuckets resolving to the IP, then the problem will go away... But the image is there, so no worries on that front.
Will fix the avatar pictures later tonight. You can upload them fine now, it's just they won't work until I put the fix in. I know the issue, so hopefully it won't be too bad to fix.
You gave me chills, KG! Awesome! This isn't the first time I've seen the end of an online community (in this case, maybe not the end, but the end as we know it, if the people we've come to enjoy don't continue showing up in the new format). I used to play Spades on a ladder team in an MSN game room. Like this, it was truly a community, and one day, it basically got bulldozed by MSN, because it wasn't making money. Old relationships fade, new relationships begin, and that's the natural order of things, but when a designated meeting ground is no longer available, and that's the reason why a community scatters to the wind... well, that feels like a church or a quiet bar shutting its doors on its regulars, maybe even harsher than that online, because we're all over the place to begin with. We won't be bumping into each other in town. At least not me.. I live in Virginia. I recently listened to this episode of my favorite podcast, which describes a similar occurance, and this was really inspirational to me.

No problem, my pleasure, it's good to see you guys!
We were at the American game β last year where Naadir dropped 12 dimes in 20 minutes of play, I think it was 8 in the first half... It was a real breakout game for him. That Naadir is a LOT of fun to watch. Love the confidence, and the weapons around him. Think he's going to have a monster year.

To be honest, my motivation for setting up this site was fueled in large part by thinking about Jaybate being in the wind. Where is that guy?!
Another things that will be taken care of ->
Pictures not working is related to the namespace not resolving to IP (if the url included port# you'd see the pic, it uploads fine). This will be fixed at same time..
