Bloody Knee Kev?
If we are going to win, Dajuan has to focus 2nd half. KJ needs to be a presence and the ball needs to find open shooters. Wish Timberlake could be a zone buster in a game like this.
It is truly a mess right now. Need someone other than Furphy hitting 3s
@DanR i feel like we are spent already and their athleticism and depth is going to overwhelm us.
we got confused in transition d both last 2 possessions, good time for tv timeout
We need to get some stops and get to halftime, recharge. Hope we dont come out flat.
Mccullar is having a forced shots game
Scrappy Dajuan
My wife is funny “aint no boomering its not coming back to you!” Lol
@wissox Bill Walton, final answer
Dont get all Geometry on us Jay. Nerd.
This crowd is all over Furphy
Ooof
Furphy :)
Maybe Fran said Mccullah 50 times in quick succession when he heard he was calling our game, thinking it was a done deal.
Furph is a savant, he just gets it.
Big time ovation
Im dreaming of Furphy showcasing what he can do across 6 games in March.
No Fran, thankfully
@nuleafjhawk you serious?
I dont see where Josh Eilert has the beat KU, bonus, cancer research donation thing.
@benshawks08 what can Braun D for you?
Omg grab the ball
Was that ball actually in the air?
@jayballer67 lets see where those teams end the season
With Siakam being traded Gradeys playing time seems to be taking an uptick and he has shot the ball well the last 3 games he has played in.
Mccullar got us out of the danger zone on a slow start. Here we go.
We should have picked our Battles.
Just got home. We struggling? Hows the Furph? Whos hot whos not?
Jordan Bells postgame interview after the Oregon defeat lacked any semblance of grace. And i dont think the apple fell very far from Dana Altman’s tree.
When Boeheim was at Syracuse, they were in the mix.
Not a big fan of the Arkansas coach, or the Oregon coach that beat us. Both seem like asshats.
@dylans you are kidding right? Straight back to Hell of course.
I'm excited that UNC / Duke could get blown up. That warms my heart.
@drgnslayr wouldnt teams often salivate at the idea of leaving guys to develop with Self, given how we finishes guys skillsets?
@drgnslayr interesting thought. What if the nba draft / ncaa rules change to allowing the kid to stay at college a year after getting drafted rather than going to g league? Just retain the draft rights to them? Is this not allowed and a reason why this isnt a thing?
@drgnslayr except in poker your King cant blow out his knee and you wont accidentally expose your Ace.
Plus I have seen him in ridiculous commercials when I set my VPN to Canada. Kid is making bank.
@drgnslayr Gradey Dick signed a 4 year / $21,422,551 contract with the Toronto Raptors, including $21,422,551 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $5,355,638.
Furph is a Flying Fox, biggest bat in Oz, Aussie Batman.
Hes actually from French Lick Indiana and is a total hick. Furphy’s a made up name.
From The Athletic:
Furphy had 15 points (which ties his season-high) on 5-of-6 shooting, three made 3s, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and no turnovers against the Cowboys. KenPom even gave him the game MVP designation for that performance. Two games is a small sample size, but is Furphy the fifth starter Kansas has been waiting on? It’s too early to say, but something here smells intriguing. Per CBB Analytics, the lineup Self started the last two games — despite only playing 92 minutes this season — is Kansas’ most efficient (amongst lineups that have played at least 10 minutes) by a significant margin. — Marks
Wild take: Juan is the focus of the offense next year and on Wooden Watch!
@Gorilla72 dont forget 5 steals!
@kuballin10 I should qualify that.
VAGUE prognostications of doom are annoying.
But its not new to this board by any means.
I think we should talk about Big Dave.
I was one of the guys who did not hold my tongue when it came to saying "Big Dave Ain't It" his senior season. We talked about Sweet 16 outs, etc.
I was wrong. Bill Self knew things I didn't. Dave Mccormack lived his life and I observed it.
Of course, speculation is what we do. But, let's be creative about it. Maybe there are wrinkles we haven't discussed. Thats where a narrative like "Furphy gives Dajuan another shooter and makes his passfirst approach more comfortable in big games" is a more interesting narrative than "Dajuan needs to shoot!"
It's like a kids soccer game where theres the one parent screaming "shoot it! shoot it! score score score!" when their kid has the ball. It's 1-dimensional.
And I don't want to single you out, so much as discuss the meta of how we talk about our our players.
@kuballin10 all of these things are reasonable, the questions they bring up though are:
Why doesnt he shoot the 3 more?
Im sure Self approves of the unguarded 3.
What are the consequences when he doesnt shoot it? Bench him? Are you sure EJ possesses enough of Juans abilities to make benching Juan in a dogfight an option? I dont think so. Is confidence an issue if you start benching him?
I just dont see EJ being anywhere close as effective as Juan at the 1, so you can see hes our dude, and theres a low threshold to where repeatedly complaining about the things he doesn't do just has no actionable soluiton and sounds like complaining and dogging Juan. And prognostications of doom are annoying. Theres nothing else we can do until Elmarko grows and i trust Self to know when that is. He was right with Furphy and every other dude that has grown on this team. We dont get to see practice. Have some faith, however it goes.
@Texas-Hawk-10 kills the narrative that Bill and we are dumb expecting a freshman to step up and score, letting Dajuan do Dajuan things when thats exactly what happens and we demolish a team for 40 minutes.
I like 90 points
Man im hitting the wall where i have zero fear and a comfy couch
Nice Juan
Love that Furph is trusted as a facilitator suddenly, feels like Gradey
Furphy is playing chess.
Ice cold execution
Michael Jordan looks like an old Johnny Furphy
