This guy’s got some gutter balls
Makes total sense to me. Even if he gets recruited over he gets to learn on a top shelf program then transfer out with 2 years of eligibility
@wissox what a sweet storyline! Must have been very satisfying as a fan. Felt like the luckiest fans on the planet for one shining moment?
@patoh3 lol. Thats good intel. Definitely hoping he can be a franchise player in San Antonio. Will be fun to see what Pop can do with him.
Curious everyones thoughts.
7’5 230, moves like a guard, shoots like Durant, some say. 8 foot wingspan.
Comps…
Holmgren: 7’1 205. Injured foot, out for season.
Embiid: 7’1 250: injured foot, out for 2 seasons.
At 7’5, having a hard time imagining a prolonged career doing guard things in the nba.
@RockkChalkk thats why i am a little scared what losing basketball is going to do destabilizing him. But maybe its the only way to change.
@RockkChalkk makes you wonder if his personal life is total chaos with basketball the only rational constant.
It will be hard to stomach if they dont look like this when Berhalter returns. BJ Callahan for mayor!
@BShark yes, yes he is.
Love the front line plus Reyna in the midfield. Really dangerous. Weah has been very very good too
@stoptheflop with you. Huggins did a lot of good things and was good to a lot of people. Much rather see a lowkey Huggins farewell tour with a salty top transfer class than a Coach K bonanza with a crappy lot of underachieving diaper dandies.
Seems like the end to me.
@rockchalkjayhawk agree 100% you control the game not the fans. Ref failed
The one good shot Mexico had, Turner passed it up the middle to Musah lazily checking back. Reminded me of similar non challance that cost us a goal against Netherlands from the midfield (I think Musah).
Thought Dest had his most complete game Ive seen. Really great on ball, off ball, dispossessing and passing. Pulisic was a worthy captain. McKinnie seems to pass without scanning too often but second goal was beautifully facilitated. Good to see Miles Robinson back. Chris Richards was solid. Really loved the backline. Didnt want to see Zimmerman. Thought Gio Balogun musah and Weah were solid. Really like Gio in the midfield. Logical to me. Gives us the creativity of De la torre with more size and power. Think Pepi off the bench is good. Aaronsen off bench is good. Let them be energy guys.
The ref was a weenus. Lost control when he didnt call second yellow on Alvarez after his hit job on Reyna. -“oh, we can do that?” Loved Pepi icing it with third goal. I was not beyond lobbing profanities at Mexico from the comfort of my couch. Something about fornicators ingesting feces.
@rockchalkjayhawk yeah! Interested to hear your thoughts. I loved almost everything about that ass kicking!
@Texas-Hawk-10 yeah. I’m not thrilled. This group is talented and hungry and Berhalter doesnt give the appearance of being either.
And boom goes the Dynamite. Pulisic 1 Mexico 0
Liking what i am seeing against mexico in first half. We are absolutely dominating possession, we need to be a little more creative in the final 3rd. Long balls on the ground up the middle is too tight a window. Should be 1-0 on Pulisics 1v1 move. He is torching Sanchez.

Gut check… hmm. Yep. Still SUCKS
Now CB needs to get on the Olympics 2024 squad so he can win that too.
Braun with a nasty rebound over Bam and Butler, then the stickback (at about 2 to go in the 2nd quarter)
@Texas-Hawk-10 is fitness an issue with Hunter at all? I think i read recently that Jokic lost weight and got in prime condition and that was how he made the leap to superstar level, but he was already an all star at that point.
@patoh3 all good points. Thanks for the addditional info. Im still skeptical that they can achieve a sustainable critical mass of interest, but there does appear to be a recent concerted effort to do so. Guess we will see!
@patoh3 this article doesn't make me think Mexican basketball is on the rise. It sounds like it is failing to build momentum and has had stops and starts. Anything about the here and now gets vague, nothing quantifiable. :man_shrugging:
@wissox i dont pretend to be an expert in soccer tactics but learning a new sport from scratch, a sport that has an amazing history, and world wide support, i think rejuvenated my interest in profession sports where its entirely possible i would have just tuned out altogether otherwise. American professional sports just aren’t nearly as enjoyable.
Anyway, i can understand how a self taught soccer dad had a wealth of knowledge. Its easy to love soccer.
@kjayhawks 22nd ranked SF in his 2019 class according to rivals. good stuff.
7-8? Wow!
@wissox beautiful. My soccer knowledge has grown up with the older 2 as theyve progressed. Maybe i will take a swing at junior high coach at some point too! My eldest was goalie for his and they went undefeated. Was story book. But 9-4-1 is def legit!
Okafor was soft. And bound to the earth. I know i hate Duke but i never would have drafted him, unlike some other Dukies who were clearly talented.
I get your point though. Its fair.
I guess I didn’t realize how bad Philly drafted. Its almost up there with Cleveland
@Texas-Hawk-10 drafting a big man i understand. Drafting okafor in particular i do not.
2017 Draft Class was loaded. Imagine what Philly could have gotten instead of Fultz at #1 https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2017.html ↗
Tatum, Mitchell, Fox, Adabayo
@rockchalkjayhawk yeah Gaga has already played with the senior team. Hes solid. Couple others too have played up. Watched the game too. The own goal was tough, hope the kid bounces back.
Too early to pick up a custom Balogun 9 jersey?
An embarrassment of riches. No harm no foul, good luck Chris.
I wonder if anyone has plotted what the stars would look like from a foreign world and made up that worlds constellations, including our sun.
@mayjay winner! You just floored me with yoda backup 5
@mayjay are alien plants carnivorous? Asking for a friend.

Alright. Lockerino! Lol
Maybe we should talk about something else. Whether we're labeling Self, or labeling the comments about him or the people who made them or whatever, I think maybe this topic has gotten a little stale? It was a good discussion, but we may have exhausted it, for now anyway.
Let's hope for the best?
I think the topic about Ernest being not that good as a replacement Braun is an interesting one we can all fight about :)
@approxinfinity could be a :angry_face_with_horns: :cat: lot worse
I’m glad he’s in conference and we will get a chance to watch him grow. Think this is great.
@jayballer67 feels better than mlb minors maybe? Cost of a scholarship is worth more than what a lot of those guys make.
@jayballer67 i think he was suggesting that kids might learn from fighting through challenges rather than running away from them.
If i had to guess i think Udeh surprised him more than any transfer ever and he had plans for Udeh in the future, whether real or imaginary.
I do think in Udeh’s case, there is a real chance that his future may have been brighter staying at KU. I agree, it should be his choice. Time will tell if the choice he made works out better for him. Hope so.
@Texas-Hawk-10 you’ve listened to a lot more of interviews of his than me i think. I dont recall mentions of troubling instances of drinking but i wasnt looking for it as a tell.
Swelling of the face and weight gain are also symptoms of congestive heart failure. :man_shrugging_light_skin_tone:
@P-H-C thanks. I may be wrong. But if I am, I think he is well equipped to kick the habit.
It’s possible @Texas-Hawk-10, but couldnt the puffiness be due to lack of exercise, poor sleep and a poor diet? Doesn’t seem like definitive proof that he drinks regularly.
@kuballin10 Im going to guess that he got drunk socially a couple times after the championship and his guilty conscience considered that to be “two weeks straight”. Nothing about the guy’s personality suggests alcoholic to me. You can see it in Huggy and others. A subdermal anger, a misalignment, a discontent. Self’s mastery of interviews speaks to an ability to navigate this world without a crutch. I’m sure he sees sobriety as an advantage and better existance and sticks close to it.
@kuballin10 i doubt Self drinks like a fish.
