@BeddieKU23 NBA doesn't care about rebounds anymore??

@BeddieKU23 That top 8 do seem like the most likely to want to drop some cash on a player! Though if I were him I'd have replaced Houston with Arkansas for max $$$

He's viewed as a 2nd round pick so another year to cash in on guaranteed money vs unguaranteed seems like an awful good deal.

Why is he so unloved by the NBA?

Keep seeing Tshiebwe may return to UK for a multi-million dollar NIL deal. Any truth to this? Wild

Kentucky might be in full panic mode with us passing them in total wins and Bill getting his second title before Cal, oh and Saint Peters. I imagine they will throw all the money they have at this problem.

@BShark I just know Self said Bobby is going to be a special player at Kansas. That is SUCH high praise from him I just don't see how he doesn't see big minutes next year. Add the point guard that led Kansas to a title who will definitely play 30+ and you've got a bunch of minutes in the back court accounted for. I still believe Yes is going to play too. He showed small bursts of what he could be and it was fun. I'd like to see more of that, personally.

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 13, 2022 01:55 PM

This is honestly the best chance any school will have I think at returning a big chunk of players from a Title team with the goal of repeated ala Florida. NIL is new and exciting for the players. They can actually earn some money and spend an entire year cashing in on the championship. Apart from Och, there are NO first round guarantees. The 2nd highest on the draft boards (Braun) is a local kid who loves Kansas and has basically a brother who will definitely be returning. Dave seems to like school and why not tack on some more degrees while cashing in on that Natty coin? Jalen could come back for a true redemption year after he got off to a shaky start this year. There's legit reasons for 4 out of 5 starters to stay next year. I still find it HIGHLY unlikely and at best we likely keep 3 of 5 but it is possible.

Question is, if we keep all 4 and only lose och, will we be athletic enough to win it again? (insert wink emoji here)

@BShark Is he our Remy next year???

I assume you are asking about Davis? Seems possible. Given the first transfer player KU has been linked with publicly was another small scoring guard, a Remy replacement seems to be desired by the staff.

Real talk, are we sure we NEED a Remy replacement? We have Juan, Yes, and Bobby all coming back. I'd think that's a pretty good set of little lead guards who can handle. Just need a shooter I'd think no matter the size but bigger would be better.

What's our fate? • Apr 11, 2022 12:36 PM

@BeddieKU23 don’t think I’ll stop watching KU games but I already don’t watch too much basketball beyond that.

I just have a hard time figuring out what was sooo bad about this situation. The worst thing they can point to actually happening is a couple of kids getting some money, MAYBE. In a sport where the coaches make millions and the ncaa even more. And from my perspective KU did everything it could to make that right by sitting the kids out, working with the NCAA on eligibility, etc. What is the WORST part of this scandal for everyone. Like which part makes you think, yeah, KU and Self really messed up with that?

Saw a thread on twitter asking about best coach in mens ncaa bb right now. Lotta love for self and wright. But this chart just reminded me how lucky I am to be a jayhawk EVERY year.

@BShark I’ve been trying to avoid your posts about this guy so I do t get excited for someone who never comes to Kansas!

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 08, 2022 04:03 PM

Anyone else notice that there were a few plays in the title game where Self tried to post Braun? That could be fun if he came back next year. Hoping Self is stealing some stuff from Wright after all their clashes in recent history. Would love for our guards/wings to start developing legit post moves and really get comfortable down there. Especially if Zach develops into a stretch big.

@BShark it makes sense. There’s really nobody right now who’s replacing Remy. More competition is good.

Agree. Small guard, big guard (Mosley plzzz), a 4 if JWill leaves. A beast 5 would be a luxury add and personally I don't see it but some people on 247 and twitter really hope we do it.

Just throwing this out into the ether - Kofi isn't on a single mock draft anywhere. Obvious mutual interest. Drop a bag and make it happen.

He'd be player of the year under Self.

@BShark that was a banger! Loved how it used Harris in that screen action. Almost wish we’d run it a few more times to see if they could figure out how to stop it.

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 06, 2022 08:22 PM

Anyone worried about Juan? He looked least enthused of the guys on the stage at the press conference post game. Not used to the spotlight? Sad about his boys leaving him behind? Still mad he stepped out? Wondering why he didn't close out the game? I don't know. Just got a weird vibe from him in that press conference. I love the kid and want him to start at PG until he graduates to be clear. Did I imagine something or did anyone else notice anything?

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 06, 2022 08:07 PM

I do wonder if KJ has more offensive skills than we are aware of simply because this team never needed his type of skills on that side of the floor. There was no room for him to drive because we had plenty of other guys to do that. Maybe I'm dreaming but with his quickness, strength, and bounce he just HAS to develop into a guy who can take it to the hoop and finish above and around the rim.

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 06, 2022 08:01 PM

@BShark I could see Zach and KJ playing together in a weird high low type of game. Zach being able to pop and shoot it, KJ maybe driving ala Wilson. We know KJ can switch on D basically 1-5 and I just don't see Self letting that skill ride the bench. KJ is the next Marcus Garret. Super defender, gonna need to learn how to score.

WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • Apr 06, 2022 07:56 PM

@drgnslayr I also think a big part of the "let off the gas" was just having Dave on the floor vs. not having him. When Mitch came in it was clear he was not physically capable of banging with Baycot the way Dave was. And even then most of the damage Carolina did was at the free throw line. They were 13-16 from the line in the first half. It's hard to stay aggressive and play fast when free throws start to pile up like that even though we didn't even have THAT many total fouls in the half.

What I MUST know and haven't found anywhere yet is DID REMY GET HIS HUG FROM COACH????????

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 06, 2022 03:18 PM

@BShark I guess I just get excited about the pressure Harris and Yesefu would put on opposing guards trying to get their offense started. The rest of the team would only have to guard for like 10 seconds by the time they get it up the court and can finally start to run something with those two hounding them.

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 06, 2022 03:05 PM

@Kcmatt7 I'd be shocked if one of Yes and Bobby isn't starting next year. Bill LOVED Bobby pre injury and Yes had a lot of good moments and if not for Remy finally getting healthy and figuring it out, would definitely have been the guard coming off the bench down the stretch. I know that's two little guards with one of those two and Harris but it's happened before. I also don't think KJ finds the "Deep bench" section next year as Self is clearly comfortable with him on D and would bring him in just to play D. That role will still be around and I'd guess he adds to that next year.

TBH though I don't know much about the new recruits but in general Self values experience first and foremost. Especially early.

WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • Apr 06, 2022 02:35 PM

And a good argument for Braun’s defense: ?s=21&t=nReQNGh5BkAuYYUp950uGg

WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • Apr 06, 2022 02:25 PM

Also, what about this teams defensive improvement in March?! I will say watching North Carolina in this tournament, their guards had me worried. Love and Davis are fast, strong, and absolute scorers. We’d struggled keeping guards out of the paint all year but Harris, Och, and Braun and even Remy all stepped up to really force those guys into bad shots. This is the ONLY reason I’d consider giving the MOP to Och. He played such good d all final four and never really got any credit for it. Harris is the clamps but Och figured out how to use his size and athleticism to make himself a great defender. That block early in the first half on the love drive set the tone for how those guards were not going to get any easy looks all night.

WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • Apr 06, 2022 12:50 PM

@BeddieKU23 For sure. Every major contributor did something along the way to get us the Championship. I also love that in the post game press conference, these guys couldn't praise their teammates fast enough with every question asked. They all just kept looking around the table to make sure everyone got their due. I feel like that is Och's true legacy as a leader. You know he heard people talking about how he needed to take over the game, but he knew THIS team was better together. His individual game would never match that of what they could do as a team.

I don't know how any of you can not watch the whole game😠. We were at the last border war, down 19 at half. Best game ever. Saw the great come back playing WV, fans(?) were leaving. Some came back. Jayhawks are a great comeback team! Each to his own!

Don't know that I've ever turned off a game because we were losing. I did put my phone down and stop reading twitter and the live chat here. I decided, I have one more half of basketball to watch this team play and win or lose they will have my full attention for the last hour or so of the season. I thought for sure they would at least mount something of a comeback at some point. My cousin reminded me at the half that the last time North Carolina played a big 12 team they gave up a 25 point lead and the last time KU played an ACC team we played the best second half of all time. I told him at the end of the game that Miami game was the SECOND best 2nd half of all time now!

Has there been a bigger offensive rebound? And he followed it with not one but TWO post buckets he basically got all on his own. 40 and 19 in the last two games is legendary.

The toughness to comeback and then not be spent and let the other team rebuild the lead was remarkable. Happens a lot. But we just kept our focus when we got back into the game and maintained it. Had they called some moving screens on Bacot it would have been an easy coast to victory.

Dude could not BUY a foul. He did everything he could to foul out of that game but the refs wouldn’t have it.

Really wish tip time wasn't 8:20 central. Is the goal of that to get west coast eyeballs? Just assuming the east coast will stay up til midnight to watch hoops? I gotta get through a full work day, then wait another several hours just to watch this game??? Come on. Surely 7:30 would be a better start...
