@BeddieKU23 I figured it would account for effective FG% and give that extra boost for 3s. Does it not?
@BeddieKU23 Or is it more that most of Dave's numbers come in smaller amounts of minutes on the floor? He rarely plays 30+ minutes...
@BeddieKU23 Are rebounds just over weighted in the formula? If so you'd think Jalen would have gone up more in the last half of the season.
@BShark Seems like there could be a pattern there. He did say his new goal as a coach with recruiting is trying to figure out how to get old and stay old. The dream is still a core of upperclassmen with a superstar freshmen but that hasn't really worked out for us yet.
This might lead to some tempering of expectations for next year if we do actually lose Och, Dave, Jalen and Braun. Really need one of those last two to stay for the stability of the program next year but I hope they make the best decisions for themselves.
Feel like all the stats and PERs and data go out the window tonight. Anything can happen in one game. We are the better team on paper but none of that matters if they end up making more baskets than us tonight! Do think it's fitting that Big Dave is at the top of that list as presumably the most important player on this roster. When he plays well we are just so tough to beat.
Och finally had his hot shooting night I'd been waiting for all season going 6-7 from 3 but unfortunately didn't combine that with his more steady all around type games he's put in over the course of the year. Here's hoping he comes up big tonight with 30 plus scored from EVERYWHERE not just behind the arc. I really want him to be the MOP of the final four but I'd settle for Dave getting 20 and 10 and taking it away from him.

Were a 4 point favorite BUT something that kind of caught me a little by surprise - - BPI has us as a 71.9 % chance of winning the game -- love my Hawks just seems that might be a pinch high
I'd think about that 71.9 % chance of winning this way. In a 10 game series we'd probably win about 7. That seems about right to me. Isn't anything close to a guarantee but we ARE the better team.

I’d really like to hate wright and nova but find it very difficult.

@mayjay I think that was one of those ankle turns that was more scary than painful. The real question is what happens to it today.
As far as guarding their guards I think we will likely just switch a lot like normal until we see who has the hot hand and then throw Juan on him to try and clamp him down. Either or both love and Davis can be dangerous and I would NOT want to triangle and two Carolina with manek having free reign to float around and catch and shoot. It will take a team effort on d. Thankfully that’s what we’ve been getting from the guys this tournament.
@drgnslayr interesting stat that I didn’t notice until Jesse posted it on Twitter, the game had the fewest possessions since 2016 yet we still scored 81 point. Just a complete game on the offensive end from everyone. Only Remy never really got in the flow and he still hit a big shot.

This next game will be so different. Carolina likes to run as much if not more than we do. They give up quite a few runouts on live ball turnovers if we can get in the passing lanes. But their guards are FAST and fearless and take and make tough shots. I hope Baycots ankle recovers quickly because I want to see that matchup with Dave. Two great offensive rebounders who do it purely with want to. Neither are picking balls off the top of the backboard.
Let’s go overtime.

@Kcmatt7 if he gets 20 and 10 again not sure how you keep him out. Could still come back next year… I’d take that Dave all year…
@bskeet wonder what’s it’s like for those people who literally can’t do that every year because their team misses the dance.
@bskeet never filled out a bracket with Kansas not winning it all.
@bskeet they’re still hungry.
@BShark I worry less about this in the tournament. Nothing to lose. Jay took out the starters. It’s fine.
@BShark woulda had 30 with most refs.
@BShark his d to start the game was HUGE
@Kcmatt7 and we’ve lost shooters on those all night.
That nova run was also without Dave on the floor.
Calls got them back in it. Gonna need another burst to get some separation in the second half.
I’d have taken 40-29 as a half time score at the start of the game.

That’s a foul.
Wow.
Can’t let bad calls be a factor in this. Just keep burying them.
He just camped out for that. Best play he’s made all game…
@nwhawkfan gotta keep folks interested before Duke Carolina.
Terrible d Braun.
Zone.
I do think Mitch can score on these guys too.
Nova needed that foul call to neutralize Dave.
Wow. Not sure about that call.
Just ran away from that rebound.
Braun could wake up and I’d be real happy.
No answer for Dave. Run it up.
This team is good at taking what the defense gives em. Not used to Och threes being what the defense funnels the ball to.
Oscar who???
Maybe should have been some articles about nova needing to run Och of the 3 line.
Might need Juan on the floor…
Keep throwing it to him.
That was a shooting foul??
Juan taking his defense assignments personally tonight.
They have no answer for Dave yet.
Keep this energy!
@BeddieKU23 If he gets in 1000 shots a day this summer no reason he couldn't be a 35-40% shooter from 3.
@BeddieKU23 Read Self is thinking of trying to run him at the 3 spot. Says he shoots it well in practice and would love running 3 bigs together on the back line of a 2-3 zone he's been working on.
@wissox Agree that MSU should probably be an "on the cusp team" in that list. I feel like Indiana was once a blueblood and still just backsliding from there so I'd have them closer to the good programs compared to the great...
Crazy thing is, even if Nova were to win it all this year I don't think that bumps them up to the top of this list. They only have 6 final fours total. Kansas has the fewest on that blueblood line with 16! That's the big difference. And even if Nova keeps piling up final fours, unless the current blue bloods STOP making it (see Indiana) how will they EVER catch up?
Nova is tied in Final fours with the following schools: Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Syracuse. They are behind: Michigan State (10), Ohio State (10), Indiana (8), Louisville (8). So yeah, I'd say MSU is closer to a blue blood than Nova... Plus they are in the Champions Classic. Blue blood isn't any official title or anything, just perception. And playing with Duke, KU, and Kentucky every year helps that perception.
Read an interesting tidbit this morning. Talking about North Carolina in the final four as an AP unranked team. The last team to win it all who was unranked by the AP? Danny and the Miracles. The last one before that? You cannot make this up. Villanova in 85. What a wild Final Four!
