Yeah, seems to happen a lot with Duke. That Grayson Allen call was a joke. It seems I see a lot of it in the NFL too. I can forgive a no call much easier than a phantom call.

How can a ref possibly call something he doesn't see? Even more, something that doesn't exist?!
Any reason why the refs don't err on the side of NOT calling the foul? "You don't see it, you don't call it"? Seriously, wouldn't that make more sense? Nothing worse than watching refs trying to take over a game. Nothing better than watching a game when the refs are "letting them play", right?
I kinda wish he would've sat a bit longer just to clear his head more. Either way, I think this will help.
I can't wait until we put a spanking on Baylor with JJ eating up their zone.
Uh, duh. Mr. Bigglesworth.
I feel somewhat bad fit the kid. Lights out shooter in high school then hits the big stage and implodes.
I'm hoping this is the wakeup call he needed. He needs to focus on basketball if he wants a career out of it.
Yeah, not feeling Carlton as a critical piece at this point based on how he's played so far. Seems like his head is not in the game, I guess not surprising considering recent developments.
Conner's a junior now, right?
Can't believe this happened after midnight. I thought people made good decisions after midnight...
I'll always remember Sheraton as more of the ankle-breaking type. But both were great at driving into contact, and maybe Frank has the edge in finishing through contact.
Thoughts?
Yeah, I never even thought of the motivation factor. I hope that's not the case, would be a sad state of affairs for Lucas if it is.
It shouldn't be this way, but I bet when Bragg gets better, Lucas will also get better. Then Lucas can clean up Bragg's junk just like he cleaned up The Designer's last year.
Either way, Bragg needs to step it up. No reason for a guy with his size, speed, and athleticism to perform this poorly. I don't expect him to finish as well as Perry at this point, but he ought to at least step it up on rebounding and defense with his strength and length. He needs to work on a running hook too. If he's gonna be a finesse guy, he needs develop some moves and take advantage of his touch.

Nope it wasn't. We'll see if he ever gets himself back to his Ole Miss days. If Maxwell & Coleby are basically "last options" we should be signing as many bigs as we can get to come here
Maxwell was recruited for his younger brother, wasn't he?
I can handle them being bad until January. By the time January rolls around, they better darned well be at least average, with the exception of Bragg who better be at least above average.
I almost feel like Landon should just sit until after finals. He's useless on the floor and his foot is obviously in need of rest. He's a 5th-year senior, he knows what to do, he just doesn't feel like doing it.
Kentucky will beat our a$$es up and down the court with their bigs if we try small ball on them.
So long

His Sveet are set
Goodnight

WHY the f**k is mason playing up 20 with less than 4 to go head out off ass Self
Because Self knows Frank is invincible and immortal!
Doing his best Selden impression! Same goal!
Bragg playing horribly tonight. Not impressing the scouts
Interesting fan reaction analysis
Love the drive and dish by Jackson
That was a junk call on Doke. You call that a foul in a pickup game you get your a$$ kicked. How about erring on the side of NOT blowing the whistle? So unless you absolutely know it's a foul, don't call it.
The drawing a charge thing pisses me off. Guys aren't even playing basketball, they're just trying to take advantage of the rulebook. The rules are for the game, not the game for the rules.
These refs are putting on an amazing show. Glad I tuned in.
That steal reminded me of Sherron's
Seriously, what's up with Bill's face? Some skin condition or something?
Lucas kept the ball high on that catch and shot!
And I'm loving how Lucas isn't trying to go back up all the time, sending it back out.
Lucas doing a MUCH better job on the boards
Heck at this rate Bragg might be back
What's up with Bill Self's face?
At least his last name isn't Clinton Dix
Coleby can rebound though.
Perfect example is the wide open shot that Bragg usually makes and air-mailed.
Oh, and LL is average at best.
They're making tough shots and we're missing easy shots.
Looking at a highlight reel, he reminds me a little of the Morrii. Good shooter, not particularly explosive, kinda slow, good thick frame. Self will need to work on defense and drive.
Great post, Ralster.
No worries, Missouri is shooting themselves in the foot like usual

@chriz ha ha but we are only kidding! Hard to resist when you start itπ³ Really Tharpe over Frank?π€
No, I know. Gotta have a good time with it, right?
Not sure why I thought that back then. If I recall correctly, Naadir was a sophomore and Frank was an incoming freshman. I was straight up making fun of a dude for saying that Frank would end up getting more minutes than Naadir. I don't remember whether he did, but he obviously should've, even back then.
@kjayhawks you and me both
Literally laughing out loud! I love how he just falls out of the picture.

@chriz a lot of likes on being a dumba$$
My guess is most of it agreeing that I'm a dumbass!
I remember thinking way back in the day that there was no way Frank Mason would be better than Tharpe. What a dumbass I was!
I also don't have a problem with the T on JJ. He was being a d-bag and deserved it. It's ironic that the T was Bilas's biggest beef with the officiating. I think Bilas was trying very hard not to complain too much about the officiating since that's become his reputation.
Loved to see JJ come out in the 2nd half! He's clearly a 2nd half guy at this point, hopefully because it's just his first few games and still needs a half to figure things out and let the game slow down a bit. Hopefully it's not a motivation or mentality issue.
Mason was money, nuff said.
Landen WASN'T money. I love me some Dok.
So the fouls on screens on Mason and JJ, isn't some contact to be expected on screens? Both guys had their arms extended and whoever ran the quick cuts around the screens basically ran into their arms and initiated the contact, effectively clotheslining themselves. Did both Mason and JJ grab? Or did Duke just sell it well? If it's the latter, the NCAA needs to look into it.
Other than that, if the refs are going to be this much of a pain, it looks like it's worth waiting for as it will eventually look more like Big XII ball instead of Big Ten ball. Whatever helps scoring. Skilled, smart, athletic defense is what we're looking for, not football defense.
They gotta figure out how to call charges though. You shouldn't be able to draw a foul just because you're standing up there within a fraction of a second before the offensive player gets there. Guys are getting there at the last second, not even making a play on the ball, and getting bailed out by the rulebook.
