Coke Sucks! • Mar 25, 2017 03:55 AM

Come onnnnnnnnnn!

No Kansas fan is going to let Kentucky fans take over his house for a friggin' cancer drink. Especially an 8-ounce bottle!

What cheap Wildcat fans... they couldn't even afford 12-ounce Mexican coke.

Give me a break!

Maybe we score 120 points tomorrow... Mason 25, Jackson 23, Graham, 24, and Vick 28!

Wouldn't that throw a wrench into the remaining teams trying to scout us!

Washington Post gives KU some big love • Mar 25, 2017 03:36 AM

@ralster

Exactly.

I'm cool with not carrying all the extra pressure by having abundant media love... trying to convince our guys they already have the tournament won.

I'm glad he did... because I think he is more of a Jinxmaster than I am!

Go, Badgers!

@BeddieKU23

I'm not at all afraid of leaving the friendly confines of the Sprint Center for Phoenix.

I think our crowd helps us... but I also think home games add pressure to our guys. They want to do well so badly that it can make it stressful.

We have an experienced team that enjoys traveling and playing in different venues. They like it when they face an adverse crowd.

If you can believe it... we may not have even seen the best basketball this team can play!

Frightening thought! (at least, to our opponents)

Don't Bring A Knife To A Gun Fight... • Mar 24, 2017 03:50 PM

We out-rebounded Purdue by 7!

I'm sure Purdue is scratching their heads on that one!

Just shows that size is not the #1 factor in ripping down boards!

It really is about footwork and position. Doesn't hurt to have a quick hop, either.

DID WE LOSE DEVONTE TO THE NBA THIS WEEK? • Mar 24, 2017 03:47 PM

Hope not for our own selfish reasons.

But if we win the NC, I doubt he stays. If we don't... I'll flip a coin.

We've all heard that comment before. Usually, it sounds like an arrogant remark.

I don't mean it to sound that way, but I can't think of a more accurate statement to describe what we witnessed last night.

Our modus operandi has been determined and executed; we like to come out a little slow and feel our way into the game. For most of the first half we were studying Purdue; feeling their best shot. And then we were almost waiting. Waiting for the right moment to turn up the speed dial on the game to see how Purdue reacts.

That was like watching two different games.

Our "big guns" in this game related to pace and intensity. When we turned those up it didn't take long to see the impact on Purdue.

We emotionally wore them down!

When was the last time you heard that?

The "emotional" side of basketball is complex. It involves physical, mental and spiritual aspects. We challenged all those areas. And the results were a beatdown few teams ever experience.

Jayhawk Secret Weapon: The Magic Man • Mar 24, 2017 02:44 PM

Last night Devonte proved to me that he truly is the "Magic Man."

THAT is the Devonte I've been imagining to see for a long time!

Much of his game won't show up in the box score. But he stamped his footprint on this game!

Oregon Matchups • Mar 24, 2017 02:38 PM

@BeddieKU23

If we continue to bring the high energy... we are unstoppable!

That run last night in the second half reminded me of the first half of our UNC game in 2008. Blitzkreig!

Oregon can't run with us when we have that energy.

My only concern is a letdown. But I think it all rides on our three amigos bringing energy and pace.

We flipped the pace on Purdue last night and left them in the dust. When that happened the game created a stark contrast to what had already been played. It was like watching two different games.

I carefully watched the expressions and body language of Purdue last night. When we turned the game into a race, they showed FEAR in their faces!

You know you have a pretty friggin' scary team when you make a Big 10 team FEARFUL!

I also saw a "deer in the headlights" look from them, too. They didn't know what hit them. They just knew that a game they were competitive in just became non-competitive.

A big chunk of why this team is exploding in March this year.... Bill has a team of mostly experienced guys and he knows how to communicate the right way with them to get them to play without high anxiety.

These guys are "dialed in" and Bill isn't going to disrupt their minds. Vick was awesome last night.

I could see Bill making a kind of dark joke about it if he missed. Something to let him know he should chill on the theatrics and just make the shot, but not so much the teacher approach to teaching him a lesson. Vick knew his risks.

I thought the 360 communicated a bit of frustration with Vick. He's on the edge of showing us so much more so he gave us a sneak peak.

LOL, here is a little Karma to bite • Mar 24, 2017 02:19 PM

@approxinfinity

Perfect example of what I'm talking about with my preference for Bill handling the microphone.

Roy, claiming the ACC as the best when they failed miserably except for his team. Why make such a political statement?

Bill would have made a more generalized statement....

"We have a good conference this year. We just didn't show well in March. That happens. Last year we weren't rated so high but we performed so much better in March."

Ol' Roy just fed our chip. Thanks, Roy!

@JayHawkFanToo

That was my next question. I haven't looked at a full bracket since I filled out mine. Still haven't looked at my bracket since to see how I've done.

I'm okay warming up against the tar heels... just like '08!

I dunno, call me crazy • Mar 23, 2017 11:30 PM

@jayballer54

Trust me.... we are ALL whacko Jayhawk fans!

We could all be spending our time curing cancer, or knocking off Bill Gates from his financial perch.

But we choose to hang out and talk Jayhawk ball. It takes a "special" kind of person to give up billions and thanks from around the world for the cancer answer.

But I'm okay with that.... aren't you?

See what I mean?

LOL, here is a little Karma to bite • Mar 23, 2017 11:27 PM

@JayHawkFanToo @Texas-Hawk-10

I agree.... It would be fine to get UNC in the finals.

I think someone nailed it on why the ACC stunk so bad in the tourney; they play too soft and only finesse ball.

Even though the officiating is questionable, they still allow a little bit of contact in March.

@wissox

Yeah... sometimes it is best to just look forward. I would hate to see the KU/Syrc game again.... really... all our NCAA tournament losses are hard to watch again.

If we lose a game now, I will burn it off my DVR immediately.

If we win it all... I will torment my family by replaying KU March Madness for months! I bet I will watch the championship game 30 times or so. Yes... you read it right....

Shows how diehard my wife is... she still wants Kansas even though she will be punished later if we win it all!

BTW: My wife hasn't used the "P-word" once this season!

Does that not say something about our team?! I think so...

BOILERMAKER BUCKETS • Mar 23, 2017 05:21 PM

@lincase

So would you trade ISU for Purdue in our conference?

Uncomfortable Exchange... • Mar 23, 2017 05:19 PM

@dylans

I'd like to see people in KC start banning the Star for their ridiculous, juvenile behavior.

I know several of their staff personally.... and I'm letting them know how wrong it was for them to head up a lynch mob against us.

Rich is their photographer that attends KU games. He's the tall guy with the beard. Known him for a long time. He likes KU basketball so not a fair target of our rage.

Wow, this is going to be great! • Mar 23, 2017 05:13 PM

@wissox

Sometimes a teams' drive is all it takes. Size, etc, just becomes side notes to a game dominated by will and momentum. I'd take that over all the size and skill out there!

I didn't really think Nova was such a crazy skilled and tall team last year. But once they got rolling, they were like a buzz saw from the wood mill... grinding up teams on their way to the trophy.

For whatever reason, I associate our team this year as being like Villanova was last year.

This Badger team has a lot of heart and guts. I'm not going to sell them short on anything. I see the reality and threat they pose to us. It is real!

Heck... I doubt anyone in this tournament has a chip like Wisconsin. It still hurts thinking back when Coach K worked over the refs to throw the championship game. That will go down in my books as being one of the worst rigged games ever in college basketball. I will not forget it nor will I forgive Duke and K.

LOL, here is a little Karma to bite • Mar 23, 2017 05:06 PM

@JayHawkFanToo

Precisely why I try to stay out of bracket pools. My wife roped me into her office pool this year. I did it but told her not to tell her office that I'm a basketball nerd.

I still haven't even looked at my bracket to see how I'm doing. I know I picked KANSAS to win it all! That's the only thing I care about!

BOILERMAKER BUCKETS • Mar 23, 2017 05:01 PM

@dylans

I've known several Purdue grads. Engineers. Pretty bright group that appreciates ball. Purdue has had some good teams over the years. Enough to help spark their fans into being legit.

I wouldn't be ashamed to lose to a Purdue team. But... this year.. I'd be extremely pissed to go home early!

I'd be happy to trade ISU for Purdue in our conference. A huge step up in class. HUGE!

Wow, this is going to be great! • Mar 23, 2017 04:51 PM

@wissox

"The Badgers are not going to win it all this year."

Obviously... I'm a Jayhawk so I'm for Kansas winning it all... but if we don't, I'm pulling for the Badgers. Hey... they took out the #1-rated team in the tourney. That not only shows they can beat anyone, but also should be a monster momentum builder moving forward.

How many times have we lost to the eventual National Champion? I know we did last year. When teams beat us they pick up momentum.

I'm expecting some damn good Badger ball against Florida... and beyond! Go, Badgers!

Anybody see this? • Mar 23, 2017 04:43 PM

@kjayhawks

Concerning all the bad press...

Look at it this way. We are obviously moving to a higher level and are threatening to east coast media. For heaven's sake, they may even have to start coming out here to games now and then or have to write articles about Midwest character... something they know nothing about.

I believe we have so much dominant positive news these days so now is the time we are going to see adverse reactions by people that don't like us.

Take the KC Star...

I have to do this • Mar 23, 2017 04:37 PM

@stupidmichael

Heck.... you should be buzzing today!

4 big games tonight including ours.

Food, drinks, friends, basketball...

Have a GREAT time tonight!

NCAA Referees Have Their Own Sort Of March Madness ↗

@JayHawkFanToo

""This game will come down to pace,” Greenberg said. "The faster it is, the better for Kansas. Purdue’s got to take care for he basketball. Live ball turnovers with Frank Mason and Josh Jackson are basically scoring opportunities.

"You’re going to see (Purdue's) Caleb Swanigan at the 5 and Vince Edwards at the 4, their best chance to win. I still like Kansas in this game and I think they’ll speed the game up.”"

I couldn't agree more!

Imagine having face-to-face contact with a Cyclone fan to buy their tickets....

"Uh... sorry you guys lost. Better luck next time (with a smirk)!"

I wanted another shot at the Clones. Now that it really counts.

Bob lutz Wichita eagle question. • Mar 23, 2017 04:16 PM

@HighEliteMajor

I doubt Lutz was having mean-spirited thoughts. But he should be aware of the politics between WSU and KU.... and he resides in "enemy territory."

So, naturally, when events happen that can be taken a negative way, those events will be open for criticism.

And there is still plenty of bad feelings after our last on-court battle with WSU.

@&#%%$*! ! ! I really wanted to play the Shockers this year! I wanted Frank to avenge his previous loss!

Uncomfortable Exchange... • Mar 23, 2017 04:04 PM

!exchange.jpg ↗

Iowa State fans have taken over the Sprint Center in recent years during the Big 12 Conference Tournament.

I bet a big chunk of the Sweet 16 tickets at Sprint were sold to Cyclone fans.

And now Kansas fans are on the hunt for those tickets.

Wouldn't that be an uncomfortable exchange?

Great quote from Landen • Mar 23, 2017 01:42 AM

@approxinfinity

It's taken me LeBron's entire career to get to the point where I can stand him. I've softened up on him because of his level of commitment to Ohio. It has helped me deal with all his ego moments and tantrums.

I know how hard it can be to see another idea when a strong vision comes into mind about it. I'm there constantly!

All I want is a fair share of fair calls. I have no desire to hustle another team out of calls that we don't deserve because we tricked the refs to make a bad call.

I guarantee you that I'm positioned in this to later say, "I told you so" if we have the horrible situation where we get ripped off down the stretch on a call that costs us the National Championship. If that happens, then suddenly everyone will understand what I'm barking about and suddenly everyone will understand the difference between "selling a call" and "flopping."
