Recruiting Master Thread Part Deux • Mar 31, 2017 01:52 AM

@jayballer54

There are more transfers every year.

Part of it is the widely-held perception on transfers. They used to be viewed very negatively, like divorced people used to be treated.

But as it has become more common, the negative perception has died down, just like with divorced people, too.

MASON AP PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ALL AMERICAN • Mar 31, 2017 01:36 AM

Super congrats to my man Frank! Wow!

Frank may not be the tallest, but he is the biggest stud ever to wear a Kansas uniform!

KU Players Leaving/Staying Tracker • Mar 31, 2017 01:32 AM

@Barney

Me, too. Your perspective on this is interesting. I can't say I can recall enough of last year to compare. It would help to look at old video.

@chriz

When he was at KSU he mentioned KU many times in a very positive light.

I'm for Frank Martin 100%!

I've always been a fan of Frank's... and it just intensified when he said all those great things about Kansas.

Frank is the real deal.

Go, Gamecocks!

@KUSTEVE

Wow. Lexington riot police involved.

Does Lawrence even have riot police?

KU got beat by a better team • Mar 30, 2017 01:40 AM

@betterfireE

I thought we had the best backcourt in America this year. Sure... we could have used more height. But if you look back at past NC teams... having a huge backcourt isn't required.

I just thought we played tired and without ambition. We quickly became lost in this game. I didn't recognize this team, perhaps similar to what we experienced in Morgantown.

Many of our missed treys were wide open set shots.

I thought this was our worst game played all year. Frank was proof of that. Oregon didn't stop him from getting his points. He got blocked once or twice, but he was doing everything 100% on his own. He had absolutely NO help from his teammates.

This is the hardest loss I've ever had as a Jayhawk.

I have total belief in Frank Mason. But after this game... I lost confidence in the rest of our team. I thought they left him out there alone. I felt ZERO team concept. ZERO. And I can't think of many if any past games like this, even when Sherron took games under his complete control.

@Blown

Good response. Naadir... BG moved forward with his game but not sure about his attitude.

KU got beat by a better team • Mar 29, 2017 03:29 PM

@jayhawk-007

So you think if Kansas played Oregon in a best of 7... Oregon would win?

I'm not quite there yet.

KU Players Leaving/Staying Tracker • Mar 29, 2017 03:26 PM

@truehawk93

We need the first-year Bragg... not the second-year Bragg. I've never seen a guy move backwards in development like he has.

Ken Pom • Mar 28, 2017 02:55 AM

I never opened my bracket after I filled it out.

I'm afraid to compare mine to my wife's... well.. actually... I already know she kicked my butt!

@mayjay

I thought this was Bill Self's best year ever. Yes... even better than '08!

Bill is now "not a young man" but he has shown a lot of the abilities of a young man by being open-minded to adapting his game.

As long as we have THIS Bill Self, we are bound to improve because Bill is improving, too.

This loss really caught me off guard. Why? Because I thought we were better prepared this March than any previous March. Bill did what he could to rest his guys even though we had a short bench.

I still want someone to explain to me what I saw last night and how it could happen?

We didn't even give up this bad when we got shellacked by Kentucky a few years ago when they blocked a bunch of our shots.

I just threw this out there.

I never saw them quit all year until this game.

How do we explain their lack of effort and willing to give up?

We didn't even run offense.

Frank is the only Jayhawk that looked like himself all year.

@Crimsonorblue22

Can you think of a better explanation? I'm open... just an idea.

But... we were at home for this game. The night before we had our biggest game all year and dominated. Lots of reasons to party. And this team has already shown a weakness for the ladies.

@Blown

I never had sex the night before a big game I played in... and my biggest game was one-millionth as big as this!

I'd like to know what our guys did on Friday night? Is their accountability?

I could barely watch that game.

After halfway through the first half I already told her we were going to lose, and she agreed.

This was NOT the same team we saw the first 3 games. It wasn't even the team we saw all year.

During this game, I kept pulling my hair, screaming about everything and looking for answers.

There was one minute left in this game, we knew it was over already. My wife told me why we lost.

"They all got laid last night," she said.

While I was busy thinking Xs and Os in my head, my wife gave me the only reason that ended up making sense.

Having sex the night before a game like this could easily drain a team of their energy and slow them down. It also kills aggression. Sure sounds like what I saw on the tube. We've seen this team go through a lot tougher battles this year, on the road. They put up a better fight than what we saw last night. This team had nothing in their tanks. No energy, no drive, no ambition. They quickly seem to give up before even really pushing harder. Sex will do that to a man. There is a reason why boxers NEVER have sex before a fight.

Frank Mason carried the entire team through this game. You could see his frustration and his heartache throughout the game. I really feel for him. His teammates TOTALLY let him down! Frank has a child. I doubt he was partying on Friday night.

When I look back over this season, outside of losing Udoka, we only had one issue: off-court trouble! It was all about chasing girls. I kept warning that we would be in trouble if we don't have a team "mom" with a real security structure to keep our guys on the right path. If my theory above is correct... we paid the ultimate price.

This could be way off. This is only my opinion. Oregon was good, but not THAT good! And Oregon was on the road... their guys weren't out having sex the night before! I will never be for having NCAA games at Sprint again! It is a massive disadvantage for us.

Kansas annihilates Oregon in Elite 8 • Mar 25, 2017 09:04 PM

@wissox

Yeah... those missed FTs killed them. They had that game and blew it at the line. Also... the refs stunk. I didn't understand why they didn't just put good FT shooters in at the end, when they had the lead. They weren't stopping them from scoring anyways... so at least make sure to hit the FTs when fouled.

Why did they keep feeding the ball to Hayes? His FTs where way way off. You just knew he wasn't going to start hitting those.

Kansas annihilates Oregon in Elite 8 • Mar 25, 2017 09:02 PM

@BeddieKU23

I just hope we don't pull out ahead too early. Our best situation is to stay about even for half the first half or more and then gradually turn it up... maintaining good momentum the rest of the way.

If they come out in a zone, we might pull a 20-point lead if a few minutes.

The classy wildcats strike again • Mar 25, 2017 08:58 PM

@HawkChamp

Or... maybe he knows his team has ZERO chance of winning unless he can get under our skin on this which could make our guys anxious.

Pretty desperate, idiotic idea since it just helps guarantee we are geared up for this game. I was worried about the possibility of a letdown game... now... not so much!

@jaybate-1.0

You made me think about the gambling world.

Point spreads are all about evening out the money, which reduces the risks for the house.

What if we go 6 games and win by a 30-pt margin every game?

We still going to only be favored by 5 or 6?

This is where you get an accurate sense of what America thinks about our guys' chances to win.

@nuleafjhawk

Or... "Kansas SHOCKS the basketball world with their huge upset!"

@ralster

Not without knowing who they are. UK strangers? No way.

I have Dukeys in my house because they are part of my family. We are smart enough not to watch KU/Duke games together.

The classy wildcats strike again • Mar 25, 2017 05:27 PM

@ralster

Glad you mentioned Morris.

Big difference between Morris and Altman. Morris was recruited to just play basketball. Players are expected to be good representatives of the university, but not nearly to the level of coaches.

Altman is a full-fledged representative for the University of Oregon. When he talks he has to be accountable for his words just like the top administrators of the university.

When he uses words like "Chickenhawk" he not only is calling our team a derogatory name, but also our fans and university. That is political and on the administrative level political statements have to follow prudent guidelines.

I never had much of an opinion of Altman before since we haven't battled much or since he was a purple kitty. But now, he lost my respect for being able to handle a microphone.

I hope we thrash Altman this evening. Give him more to whine about.

Coke Sucks! • Mar 25, 2017 05:16 PM

@mayjay

My question; why didn't these UK fans pay their electric bill?

@jaybate-1.0

I don't believe we've peaked yet... for several reasons.

We've just had 3 games with this NEW Jayhawk team. And this is a new team.... different from the regular season. Our commitment to excellence has really stepped up to transform this team. We are doing better in probably every statistical column because we are better focused and we have plenty of motivation.

So there is a great chance we continue to IMPROVE as we get used to playing at a higher level.

And the main reason why I don't think we have peaked.... as we play through the tournament, every game gets a little tougher. Our guys step up when facing tough adversaries and situations therefore every game now promises to be tougher which actually helps us raise our game.

We are lucky that the media is still not focusing on Kansas. It is becoming hilarious.... we are averaging over 95 points a game and have outplayed every team in the tourney by a long shot... but we are still buried at the bottom of the sports page. Love it.

@wissox

I was curious to know how you were doing. Those last second dagger shots hurt more than anything else.

KU Players NCAAT Point Tracker • Mar 25, 2017 04:35 PM

I'm curious if Vick's numbers are suddenly going to climb.

Once he shows more confidence out there he is bound to bring his numbers up because he doesn't push to score... but if he does he is bound to have some success!

KU Players NCAAT Point Tracker • Mar 25, 2017 04:31 PM

@jayballer54

All indications that our guys are better focused than they have been all year!

In the past, we all complained that our team didn't PEAK at the right time.

Not this time!

Let's just hope we keep the hot hand. It's not like we are just getting lucky by hitting tough shots. We are working hard to get open. Most of our shots are open, and the shots that aren't open become open because our guys are able to create scoring space.

The classy wildcats strike again • Mar 25, 2017 04:27 PM

Let's give Altman a real reason to hate us.

100 - 50 should do the trick.

The classy wildcats strike again • Mar 25, 2017 04:25 PM

I guess so. He is on the national stage and acts like a 5 yr old purple kitty fan.
